This 16th century, semi-detached stone barn conversion sleeps six people in three bedrooms in the Shropshire village of Halford. 1 Church Farm Barn is a 16th century, semi-detached stone barn conversion in the small Shropshire village of Halford just a short walk away from Craven Arms. With two bedrooms (one twin and one double) and a family bathroom on the ground floor and an ensuite twin on the first floor, this cottage can sleep six people in comfort. The rest of the accommodation is made up of an open plan living area with a fitted kitchen, dining area and a sitting room with a woodburner and doors to the sun lounge. Outside the cottage... is private parking for one car, additional off road parking and an enclosed walled garden with a patio, lawn and outdoor furniture. Within walking distance of all the amenities of Craven Arms, 1 Church Farm Barn is a wonderful holiday cottage for anyone wishing to discover the delights of Shropshire.

Shropshire Hill Discovery Centre 1.5 miles.

Region: A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

Town: The village of Halford boasts an ancient church and stands close to the River Onny, which divides the village from the small market town of Craven Arms, a 12 minute walk away. This is an ideal base, with fine walks from the village to lovely Stokesay Castle, one of England's finest fortified manors, or the Shropshire Hill Discovery Centre, and just a short drive to Wenlock Edge. Church Stretton, known as Little Switzerland, is just a few miles away and nestles between the Long Mynd and Caradoc Hills, renowned for their scenic walks and excellent golf course. Craven Arms has some charming and historic houses, including a round house, thought to be a recognisable rest house for pilgrims travelling between Wigmore and Shrewsbury Abbeys. The historic towns of Bishops Castle, Ludlow and Shrewsbury are a short drive, and offer magnificent castles, riverside walks, wonderful shops, pubs, restaurants and exciting theatres and a variety of festivals.Read more

Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  I chose this property because it is pet friendly, i.e. a walled garden. The openplan kitchen/dining room/lounge is spacious and well equipped, together with a small sunlounge.
  The barn is situated on a small road, with no through traffic, but within a short walk to local amenities, the local tourist information office and the a road to Ludlow or Church Stretton. There are many local walks, and a varied supply of information is available in the barn. As a dog owner, keen to walk, this property is perfect for me and I have rebooked for May 2013.
  
  All of the arrangements made by Sykes, were efficiently handled, except that it appears to be impossible to book on-line!

  Fantastic warm and cosy winter break

  We wanted somewhere within handy reach of Ludlow that was suitable for a family with 2 young lads and 2 dogs. Having checked through Sykes the owners confirmed they were happy for us to bring the 2nd pet. On arrival we were more than impressed with the quality of the cottage - the furnishings and decor were more than appropriate for the style of the property and the wealth of maps and literature available prompted us to take several lovely walks in the locality. A very handy guide was provided by the owners explaining how to work everything there. Highly recommended. :-) We hope to visit again in 2011
