Enjoy the best of both worlds in our comfortable, spacious cottage on the ridge overlooking the lake in a forest setting, close to the town of Haliburton. Unwind in a hot ensuite bath with a view of the lake and the surrounding hills. Try your hand at making your own pizza in our wood-fired bakeoven one day, pop into town to enjoy one of the great new restraurants the next.

So far we have a perfect record - everyone who has stayed at Maple Arbour has made only positive comments

Additional Location Information

We're located just 3 km from the centre of the town of Haliburton. Here's a short list of the many attractions in the area.

Sir Sams [18 km]
Sir Sams ski area now has an 1100' covered lift that can transport 2000 skiers per hour up the hill.

Nordic cross-country ski trails [5 km]
Make friends with winter - a great set of cross country trails just a few minutes from the centre of town.

Haliburton Forest [21 km]
This huge tract of privately held land was rescued from an oblivion of exploitation and has become one of the world's earliest and finest examples of how to rebuild a forest and make a buck at the same time. Home of an amazingly diverse set of attractions, including dogsledding, snowmobiling, the Walk in the Clouds canopy tour and the wolf centre, camplng, fishing, trails for walking, biking, an astronomical observatory and... a submarine! Unfortunately the sub is now grounded, apparently because the government can't figure out how to regulate it.

Sculpture Forest [5 km]
A wonderful little walk in the woods in the presence of a diverse collection of spirits.

Haliburton Highlands Water Trails
Approximately 28,000 + hectares of provincial and municipal public lands comprised of countless lakes, rivers, trails and continuous forest, including the Leslie Frost Centre.

Algonquin Park [56 km to access point 15 at Kingscote Lake, 95 km to the west gate]
Does it need any introduction? It's a huge park and you can easily spend a week or more there, at various levels of engagement. Kingscote Lake at access point 15 is a great place for a day of canoeing and swimming. A quick sampler, and a personal favourite, is a short canoe trip up the Oxtounge River to Ragged Falls, accessible from the western border of the park. A canoe can be rented at the point of entry, no need to transport it on wheels.

Wintergreen [21 km]
Spring's magical elixer, the quintessential Canadian food - get some and see it in production at Wintergreen.

Wind in the Willows Spa [11 km]

A great place to eat or to pick up gourmet food on the way up to Haliburton.

The Art Hive
A local Artist/Artisan Collective located on highway 118 between Carnarvon and Haliburton.

Kinmount Theatre [41 km]
Not your typical movie theatre - this has to be the funkiest cinema in the world, a theatre, cinema museum and art piece. Worth the price of admission just to take a tour of the film paraphernalia. See if you can figure out how they managed to get five theatres with 550 seats in there.

Haliburton Highlands Trails and Tours Network
Haliburton has an extensive network of hiking and biking trails.
