      Great location and apartment

Left on 11/05/2012 for a stay in October 2012

I booked a 5 night stay at Hibiscus 001 after reading positive reviews on Tripadvisor.
Having stayed up on the hill before I was keen to stay closer to the pools & beach too. This apartment was perfect location wise - the grassed area out the front of the apartment was also a real bonus for kids.
Pick up from the airport & my Coles online delivery being at the door made for a great arrival too. All questions asked before arrival were answered in a helpful & prompt fashion.
The apartment was fully decked out with everything you need including some pantry/washing supplies (leftovers from previous guests I suspect). However I suspect a family with really young children would need a bath.
Overall I was very pleased with my choice and enjoyed my stay. I would say I would return again however I note a couple of minor points which weren't as I expected and if they were improved i would definitely return 1) tiled floors in bathrooms felt like they needed a good scrub (grout looked dirty); 2) all the pillows provided were like hard bricks - I would suggest providing a few varieties. 3)The chest of drawers in the second bedroom (stuck in the wardrobe) didn't fit & you couldn't open the drawers (hence a previous guests clothing item was found) 4) leather couch is starting to flake in parts.
Many positive points for this apartment though including the beautiful beach & ocean glimpses seen between the palm trees. Buggy worked well too.

Great apartment, great location, great island!

Left on 10/19/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Apartment was very spacious and well-furnished with a modern feel. The location was perfect, just opposite the beach and with a pool close by. Also near to the start point for walks in the hills, crazy golf, tennis etc.

We loved the golf buggy, being able to zip to the shops and restaurants by the marina. The pick up and collection from the service all worked well.

The apartment and island are not the cheapest, but as a family with teenagers we have a brilliant few days there and wished we could have stayed longer.

A great week in Hibiscus 001 - spacious, fresh, relaxing - moder

Left on 05/03/2012 for a stay in March 2012

The kitchen in Hibiscus 001 worked perfectly for us, and I loved the shiny black counter tops that displayed our fruit and salads beautifully as we prepared our own meals. The large indoor and outdoor dining tables provided plenty of space for us and our friends who were staying upstairs.
The bedroom was spacious, and felt so open with views directly across the patio and lawn to the garden and palm trees, with the ocean beyond. Our bathroom was great, with a window onto the bedroom and the view outdoors from there. Showering with a view and privacy at the same time.
We used the unit's laundry twice during our stay and everything worked well. The unit was open plan, cool and spacious, easy to keep it tidy and it was welcoming to our friends, too.
The outdoor light didn't work, unfortunately, so we didn't dine outside at night. But the patio was great in the sunshine.
We found that all the outdoor tiles, at our unit and along the walkways and at our friends' upstairs units were very slippery in the rain. Very slippery. Beware.

      Terrific Family accommodation

Left on 04/23/2012 for a stay in March 2012

Great Family accommodation. Front lawn was great for the boys to kick the footy and play, as well as watching the birds. Great outlook/view.
Close to pools and beach. Buggy was a favourite addition for all of us!
Kitchen, high chair, trundle bed, laundry etc very useful.

Only problem was the little step leading out to the porch area was dangerous for the 2 year old as was the tiles when wet (rain). Actually was surprised by how many slippery surfaces there were around the whole resort, when it rained, surprised Hamilton Island has not implemented safer surfaces i.e. tiled paving near main reception.

Having said that we had a terrific holiday, easy to get to - flying to the island then easy transfers.

      relaxing and comfortable stay

Left on 10/18/2011 for a stay in September 2011

The apartment was very comfortable and spacious, with good quality furniture and fittings. A spacious ensuite and walk in robe was a bonus. The 2nd bedroom had it's own bathroom which made sharing with an adult son an easy option. The buggy which came with this unit was a little old and in need of updating. The brakes were a bit dodgy and no seat belts were installed, which made travelling with small grandchildren difficult. Other apartments in this block had newer buggies. But apart from this, I would recommend this apartment with it's easy access to the beach and to the Reef View Hotel with it's heated swimming pool.

We really enjoyed our time on Hamilton Island and loved staying at the Hibiscus Lodge. It was confortable, in a good location and clean. We were very impressed with our concierge - John. He went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and hassle-free. The location near the beach and facilites meant that we utilised them. The only criticism is that the buggy has no seat belts. I was aware of this from reading similar reviews but had hoped that the owner would have acted responsibily by now and had them installed.

      lovely family holiday

Left on 09/03/2011 for a stay in August 2011

Had a lovely holiday stay with our two kids a 2 year old and 6 month old. Apartment was as I expected based on other reviews. Location is brilliant - ground floor and super easy access to beach. Apartment had everything we needed. Not sure why they are described as "luxury"apartments as I think this would set some peoples expectations too high. The apartment is a comfortable basic 2 bedroom apartment. The valet service was great. One gripe was the portacot provided was not very good and had a plastic foot in the middle of the mattress section which pokes up. Uncomfortable for baby and we ended up propping the four corners up so the foot/support in the middle hung down. Considering you can get a decent portacot for $60 from aldi its probably time to upgrade it. Also there were no beach towels provided. Otherwise we had a fantastic week and I would recommend the apartment to other families so long as they didn't expect luxury.

Best week ever...can't wait to go back

Left on 08/30/2011 for a stay in March 2011

We stayed in March this year (2011) for a week at Hamilton Island staying at the Hibiscus apartments. We stayed in 001 which was a newly renovated two bedroom, ground floor apartment. It had everything we need, full kitchen, two bathrooms, two tv's with austar, beach towels and of course the apartment comes with a buggy. This is very handy as most of the restaurants and shops are on the marina side of the island over one very big hill!! The ground foor was perfect for my son, who was able to play on the grassed area near our patio. The apartment is also close enough to be able to walk to Catseye Beach, the Bouganivllia Pool and the Pool Terrace restaurant at the Reef View Hotel.
We have previously stayed at Hamiltion Island in the Whitsunday Holiday apartments when our son was just over one. We found it very difficult to get around the island without a buggy and they are quite expensive to hire, $80 day! They have buses running, but it was very hard with a child, pram and nappy bag. This time with the buggy included it was fantastic. We could do what we wanted, when we wanted...and much more freedom.
While we were on the island, my husband did a fishing trip and caught a fish that we were able to cook up on the BBQ on the patio. We also did a day trip on the Banjo Paterson. It was a great way to see Whitehaven and Chalkies beaches...nothing bets turning the motor off and sailing!!!
We ate at the Manta Ray cafe, the Marina Tavern, the Pool Terrace Restaurant and all were great. The pizzas at the Manta Ray Cafe were our favourite. We also had breakfast with the koalas twice, which was excellent. It was a buffet with a great selection of hot and cold food.
We did sunset cocktails on one tree hill on our last night. Even though the sunset was not the best, we had a great time. Cocktails were delicious!!
We had the best time and can't wait to go back :)

The service is very good on checkin and out. We liked the appartment, it was spacious and good for small children with grassed area outside. However the floor was dirty, there were old undies in the cupboard and we had to move furniture to be able to use the draws. It is close to pools, beach and hotel restaurants although the breakfast was very expensive. It was great to have the buggy which you needed to get around to the marina, but disappointed that it had no seatbelts as many other buggies did and would have been much better with children. We enjoyed our stay and would choose this appartment again.

Disappointing to the extent of becoming comical

Left on 04/02/2011 for a stay in June 2010

When we arrived at te apartment, there was somebody else's washed laundry in the washing machine. Can you believe that??
The dinner set comprised of 3 plates & 2 bowls as the remaining cutlery / crockery were locked in a broken dishwasher that could not be opened or repaired during our entire stay!!
Downlights didn't work in the bathroom
Toaster was broken and had to be replaced.
Dvd had to be tuned and did not work until someone came to tune it in for us.
The entire stay was a debacle and we saw more of the people who looked after the property that we did of our whole family - it was an appalling experience and no compensation was offered other than a very apologetic property manager who who described us as "very unlucky" - what an insult! As for 'constructive' comments - how about doing a thorough inspection before checking someone in??? Pretty basic, isn't it!

Often travelling with children, even to a tropical paradise can be stressful. We found staying at Hibiscus 001 very relaxing as the children could step out of the apartment and play on the grass area. We didn't have to compete with crowds for our meals if we didn't want to and the beach and main pool were a short walk away. The apartment had plenty of room and was extremely comfortable. It was very pleasant in the evening sitting on the balcony watching the sunset over the ocean. When we go to Hamilton again we will definately be asking for Hibiscus 001 again.

      Nice but Filthy

Left on 04/01/2011 for a stay in April 2010

I'm a real estate agent in Wa and I felt sorry for the owners who had obviously spent money up grading the unit some years ago. Primarily for the reason their investment had not been well maintained do to the obvious short comings of the ongoing "pooled" management. This revolved around internal fixtures either being broken, loose, not working efficiently or filthy. ie cockcroaches in dishwasher along with all other areas of cleaning being neglected apart from bathrooms and toilets. We had to insist the unit be cleaned again as the bed linen appeared not to have been changed prior to us taking occupancy. Sheets crumpled and hair in beds in both main and single.Linen press that most probably should be locked looked like a "dogs breakfast"
and contained dirty tea towels, towels and sheets. In summary the young staff who are friendly and efficient with the meet and greet side of things are not trained in the art of efficiently cleaning the units and reporting damage and short falls in the inventory. For the tariff charged one would expect a lot better. On initially walking into the unit you think it's great.(modern, spacious and a pleasant outlook and feeling. On a closer examination you quickly change your mind.

We travelled with young children who are used to wide open spaces so the ground floor location was ideal. The apartment was very close to the beach, lagoon pool and other resort facilities. The golf buggy is essential for trips to 'town'. The apartment was very nicely decorated and had a dishwasher. The only thing I missed with little ones was a bath, but the laundry trough was a good substitute.

A nicely decorated 2 bedroom unit based on the ground floor, so access with a pram is very easy. Verandah leads out to a lovely grassed area which is perfect for kids to play ball on. The apartment is on the end of the block beside the road. It can be a little noisy when golf buggies and buses are using that road when you wish to go to sleep at night. There is no bath so bathing kids must be done in a shower. Pick up and drop off from the airport was excellent. Staff were very helpful. A convenient and comfortable unit to stay in.
