Heliconia Grove 8 was a great place to stay. It had an impressive view off the balcony, it was a lovely spacious apartment and the use of the private buggy was lots of fun and gave us the freedom to go where we wanted at any time. The apartment was located in a quiet area and had all the facilities needed for a relaxing long weekend. We didn't do any cooking during our stay or washing but there was a full kitchen and washing machine if we needed it. Highly recommend it as a place to stay when in Hamilton Island. Other than a smoke detector that needed new batteries on the first night, we couldn't fault it. We were even allowed to check in at 10am, which was great.

It was our 25th wedding anniversary and Heliconia Grove 8 was a wonderful place to celebrate. We were very happy with the unit, beautiful view, well appointed, comfortable and very relaxing. Only issue was the DVD players were not working properly in main TV and Bedroom TV, though the view out the front was better than anything on TV. Was great to have the golf buggy and it worked fine, notthe fastest but adequate and it was needed considering we were up the hill and a bit of a distance from shops and other resorts. But would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

We were picked up from the airport and given the keys to our buggy for the duration of the stay, we were also shown how to charged the buggy.
The apartment was spacious, with full amenities, great views across the Whitsundays, it is conveniently located close to the Marina and shops. The laundry with drier was a big help especially with the unseasonal weather.
Very clean and comfortable. A good apartment.

Nice view of the island especially the sunset, TV channels where good and the apartment had good amenities the buggy needs to be replaced as it was a joke going up hills and being overtaken by walkers and going down hills was a scary experience as the buggy needs new brakes, customer service / maintenance was poor as TV in bedroom was faulty for two weeks.
Overall we had a good time as the island is a great place to be with many activities for all ages. Read more
Thank you for your feedback, we have contacted the owners and they have now replaced the old buggy with a brand new one for this apartment.

Second visit to this lovely apartment and wont be our last! We knew this time to take our own basic ingredients along (tea, salt and pepper). The buggy seems to be on its last legs, but we weren't in a hurry to get anyway and I'm sure it was quicker than our legs would have been Read more
Great news the owners of this apartment have now purchased a brand new buggy. Thank you for your feed back.

This apartment was a great place to stay. Very close to the marina and main street and with the buggy only minutes to the main resort and beach. We loved this side of the island and the view was superb. We even saw whales from the balcony one day. The balcony has great views of all the boats coming and going and of the sunset. We would recommend this to anyone. The apartment had everything we needed. When the buggy wasn't charging someone was there in 5 mins to fix it and Sam who picked us up made a great first impression of the island. My only negative, and this is because I'm a clean freak, is that behind and or under furniture had not been cleaned in a while. but other than that everything was clean and well looked after. Had a great stay.

This is a great place to stay. It is very comfortable, has views that are magnificent and excellent amenities. Our stay was for 3 nights and I wish we could have stayed for more. The price is very good considering you also have a buggy in the price. The buggy could do with sides for wintry weather - particularly as we were attending a wedding. We had a slight problem with ants but the owners were on to it very quickly. We didn't use the pool but it looked inviting.

This is a beautifully appointed unit with a beautiful water view. It was very quiet as no one was using the pool. Beautiful birds visited us every day (we did not feed them) and we even had a family of possums drop by in the evening. The golf cart was awesome and very necessary. Staff was excellent. They allowed us to keep the golf cart and leave our bags with them, which they delivered to the airport, as we were on a later flight than standard check out. Any questions or concerns were addressed promptly. Would most definitely stay in this unit again.

We went to Hamilton Island for the 1st time at the end of april and it was just beautiful. The apartment is lovely, everything you might need, with a stunning view over the water. You can lounge out on the balcony and enjoy the sunset - we loved the birds being so tame, though be careful as they come into the apartment! The lighting in the apartment in the evening could be a bit cosier but it's nothing major. The fact that the golfbuggy comes with the apartment is very convenient. A brilliant stay.
Good value for the price

Great view, good size apartment.
The oven did not work properly and there was hair in the drain from previous guests. Other then that a good value unit, that was clean everywhere else. It was raining during our visit and the buggy's brakes didn't work properly and it didn't have rain zippers, which made it difficult to go anywhere with a 6 week old baby as the rain came straight in the sides. Have been to Hamilton Island many times and would probably not stay in this apartment again.

Great spot for weary couples to take a relaxing break. Much nicer than being in a poky hotel room- we could rustle up a meal and then sit outside on the spacious balcony for some alfresco dining with a great view

Over the years we have stayed at several properties on the island. This apartment is one of the best. Sit back on the balcony and watch, yachts sail in and out of the marina, planes fly past and land, birds in the trees and the magnificent sunsets. The apartment had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The valet service was great. We can highly recommend this apartment. We'll be back.

Wasn't sure what to expect - so many opinions, so many websites offering various accommodationpaaackages. We had previous experience with Hamilton Island Biz on a previous occasion and were impressed with the Port Stephens accommodation so decided to try Heleconia 8. We were blown away from the arrival at the ferry jetty. Wonderful greeting from the concierge - Lyell, a quick trip around the island (pointing out the main shops, pools and other facilities) and then taken to the unit. The view was marvellous. Just like the website's photos and description. Couldn't wait for sunset to have the first G & T (so we didn't)on the balcony. The unit was clean, spacious and equipped with all we required. We had organised for a delivery of groceries and that was waiting for us upon our arrival. Lyell had brought it inside earlier, out of the sun - thoughtful. Due to new oh & S rules, some kitchen basics are not provided, but I always travel with a few necessities - just in case (S + P). The buggy supplied with the unit was cute - so many of them buzzing around the island. Hubby loved the golf course so he bought the polo shirt to prove it. We treasured the view from the bed every morning - we left the divider open. There is a pool at this complex - great for a quiet swim or sunbake - for more entertainment there is the pool at Catseye Beach. Every venue we visited on the Island had friendly and helpful staff. A visit to the yacht club deck in the afternoon is not to be missed. It's a direct and quick flight to and from Sydney, all the better. Five nights was definitely not enough so we are hoping to go back next year, and the year after that, and the following one... Thank you.

Greeted at the airport by a smiling Stephanie our valet, we then jumped in our buggy and headed off to our apartment. The apartment did not disappoint, it was clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable with a welcoming deck and the most perfect view. The Cockatoo's were keen to join happy hour, uninvited and all. Cruisy walk down hill to Restaurants and the orange and green bus comes in handy heading back up the hill. We were there 5 nights and the only disappointment was the pool was ordinary on arrival and cleaned on day 5 of our stay ie last day, so not very inviting.

This was our third trip to Hamilton Island and when first viewing the appartment were very impressed. It was airy and spacious with a great view.
The buggy was a very handy item to have on hand due to the steep location of the prperty and a lot of fun to drive. Our dinner cruise on the Dennison Star was unforunately cancelled due to the maintenance program but instead settled for On The Edge Cruise to Whitehaven Beach which was the better choice in the end. My wife and i had a great time there enjoying the food in most cases and the atmosphere of the whole place.

The heliconia 8 was comfortable, cool, and clean. We had no disturbances from either staff or neighbours. The furniture was clean and new. The kitchen was lacking basic supplies like salt and pepper and dishwashing liquid, but otherwise the kitchen facilities were adequate and clean, except the dishwasher was not functioning well, leaving dishes still dirty. The pool was greenish on our first day there but someone came and cleaned it the following day. Upon arrival the a/c was turned to 18 and the machine itself was running alot of water down the back of kitchen cabinetry with electricals. This was turned down by us and the problem stopped.
What a beautiful place...

Unit very comfortable, good view. Unit had everything that you would need, just like home. Thank you to the young people who met us & delivered us to unit, showing us around & taking us back to airport. Buggy was excellent for us to see the sights.

My husband & I cannot recommend Heliconia Grove 8 more highly! We spent nearly a week there in early Nov 2010 & it was just what we needed. It was private, spacious, had great amenities and a fabulous balcony (we spent quite a bit of time on the balcony given that the weather was rainy for the majority of our stay).
Service was unobtrusive but great the couple of times we needed it. The woman who picked us up at the airport was very pleasant & accommodating (I've long since forgotten her name unfortunately)-- she made a great first impression!
Hamilton Island was our first stop of a 5-week vacation & we couldn't have planned it better. Due to work & other stresses prior to the trip, we were able to completely unwind & relax-- the apartment was key in making that happen!
We also loved the fact that we had our own golfcart garage-- came in very handy given the weather elements!
Given the lodging alternatives on Hamilton Island, this was by far, a great value for the money! Enjoy your stay!
My 21st Birthday Present

My partner arranged a getaway to Hamilton Island as my 21st birthday present and it was splendid. With outstanding views, pretty surroundings, beautiful beaches and scrumptious food and drink, I hardly wanted to leave. However, if you are looking for a crowded holiday, somewhere to party or a lot to do than Hamilton Island isn't really the place to be. I thought it perfect for a small romantic getaway with my partner where we could spend time together and relax. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is calm, not exactly cheap but is definitely worth the money you spend. Loved it!

Lovely apartment, everthing you needed was there.
View changes throughtout the day, so there is always something new to look at. Lovely and quiet and great service if you needed something. We left very relaxed.
Payment process was simple and painless.
My only suggestion would be to stongly recommend that you bring your own food as the only shop is outrageously expensive and has a very narrow range and the restaurants are mediocre at best.
We loved the apartment, but didn't think the Hamilton Island facilities offered as much as it should, it is run down (not the physically, but content wise) and needs some variety. We stayed 10 days, 5 would be my recommendation.

1) Not a true one bedroom as the bedroom is separated from the living area with bi fold doors, noise an issue.
2) Not keen to stay in a property with balcony with a young child. Is possible for them to push chair up to railing and climb the chair and possibly the railing.
3) Out child tripped and fell on the tile flooring and hit his head hard. Better to have children in an apt with floorboards.
4) On the friday evening (our second last night of four nights) there was a large event happening down in the village, loud music, loud partying, base playing hard. Awful to listen to as a paying guest up on the hill. No notification was given of this party before booking accommodation. couldn't go to sleep until finished at midnight. We normally go to bed at 9pm.
5) An additional playground on the island (only 1) for children would ad a bit of variety.
I wouldn't recommend Heliconnia 8 to a family with any young children. It's more suited to an adult couple.

We have stayed at Hamilton Island approx 10 times over the last 15 years. Always enjoyed our holidays but Heliconia where we stayed the last two times is our favourite. It is peaceful with beautiful views and close to the village if we decided to walk instead of using the buggy. We have stayed in a variety of accomodation, including a couple of times at the Beach Club but Heliconia is our pick.
