What Past Guests Are Saying
immaculate, bright centrally located studio where I was preciousl
Its just a lovely little spot there are four windows in the studio-and another off the bath-well lit-lots of fresh air-a darling little patio & courtyard for my pleasure
5 minutes from the harbour.
Tricia was very attentive to my needs-you can tell she loves what she is doing--for her it is a pleasure- and that feeling comes across
The island of Bermuda is just a gem and I loved walking around various roadways & trails -however may I suggest the authorities make way for more one way roads-it really would be a smart move I think
I did not take my camera on this trip so no photos to share
Fun in Bermuda
Unless money is no object, stay here.
What you are getting is a room or 2 in Tricia's house. You have separate entrances and your own facilities, but if you are a 5 star snob, go somewhere else, like Grotto Bay. Very nice but 3X more expensive. Tricia's place is where normal people can stay in Bermuda. Bermuda is very expensive, so take advantage of the kitchenette in your room. Tricia is very helpful and friendly. We will come again. Two tips, the nicest beach in Bermuda is 5 min away by Taxi. A bay at the bottom of the admirality house. Also save your money on the high priced crystal caves. There are free caves to be had that no one knows about. Take a bus to Grotto Beach resort, walk up to the front. You will see a path to the left, take that.Follow the signs to the caves. You can even swim in them (unlike the crystal caves) so bring your bathing suit. You will have saved so much money, treat yourself to a nice feast at the beachside restaurant.
Good location, cost & cozy outdoor space for morning coffee :)
We love Sunflower! The room was clean & cozy. Meeting Tricia was like seeing a long lost friend. She is terrific, helpful & sweet. She gave us good tips & shared local Bermudian wisdom which came in very handy :) The short walk to ferry terminal & bus station made it possible for us to see the entire island in 4 days using public transportation. Our favorite beach, only 10-15 minute by bus. Ferry boats are a beautiful way to travel. Bermuda is a gorgeous island. Buy a sheet of transportation coupons, best value "ticket to ride". Watch out for scooters & cars. Roads are narrow, the Pina Coladas are strong. Left side driving a challenge where there are no sidewalks. We had the best time visiting Bermuda. The island is expensive for visitors on a budget (like us). We recommend staying at Sunflower. Everything we needed to survive in comfort was provided. Our room had a little kitchen area with toaster oven, micro wave, refrigerator etc. which made it possible to prepare simple food. There's also a BBQ in the garden but we were too busy to use it:) When we come back to Bermuda, we plan to stay @ Sunflower again. It was cozy and comfortable.Be prepared for the nightly loud & charming chorus of tree frogs, they "rule" the island and can keep you awake at night :) Thanks again for a wonderful stay Tricia ! Big hugs & much love from Siss and Sissi, your friends from Norway - you are the best !!! :)
Happy Repeat Visitor
The Sunflower is a great value in a great location on a great island. This is our second visit and we enjoyed it as much as our first time. We've traveled pretty extensively around the world and Bermuda and as one of our favorite places.
Hamilton serves as an excellent home base as it is centrally located, has far more restaurant choices and is the main transportation hub (if you stay elsewhere and you're going somewhere on the other side of the island, you'll most likely have to go through Hamilton first to connect). The Sunflower is perfectly located only a few minutes walk from the main ferry terminal and central bus terminal.
Tricia Thompson-Browne, the owner, is very friendly and helpful and makes you feel right at home. She's pays a lot of attention to details to add a "special touch" to your stay. For example, she provides snorkel gear and big beach towels for guests to use, a prepaid cell phone (just have to reimburse for minutes used), and a large DVD library for watching movies in your room. The rooms are comfortable, well appointed and cheery. They are also private with a separate outside entrance.
If you decide to stay, here are some of our tips and recommendations:
1) favorite restaurants for dinner: Cairo Cafe and Portofino's, both in Hamilton. For lunch, Lemon Tree Cafe.
2) favorite hike/walk: Railway Trail section through Paget Parish. Lots of nice, shady, flat stretches and good views.
3) best ferry ride: take the Pink Route right before sunset!
4) favorite beach: Port Royal Cove (right next to Horseshoe Beach)
Primo Location, Comfort, Cleanliness, Charm...and a Bargain!
The Sunflower combines the warmth and comfort of home with the great location and personalized attention of the boutique hotels which surround it on Rosemont avenue. The room - I had the upper studio- is bright, spotless and comfortable. It's a quick walk down past The Rosedon, cross Pitts Bay Road by the Hamilton Princess, then a couple blocks around the bend to Front Street, the harbor, ferry station and village. The wonderful Miles Market is close by and convenient for a grocery stop. Tricia's hospitality overflows ( the numerous positive reviews are accurate) and makes one feel welcome and comfortable from the start. She is a generous soul, happy to help with logistics and travel information. Attentive to detail, she's thought of it all, freeing the guest to just relax and enjoy Bermuda's beauty. With all this to recommend it, Sunflower's rates are a fraction of what you'd pay for nearby lodging, and there's free, fast WiFi ( WiFi at the Hamilton Princess will cost you $15 a day!) What have I forgotten? Lovely soft sheets, very comfortable bed, thick terry towels, books, Dvds, helpful notations on The Sunflower map...
Thanks, Tricia! ( I'm already peeking at the calendar, mulling my return:-)
A delightful room.
My stay was exactly what I had hoped it would be. The Sunflower is very close to the center of town and the Hamilton Princess (where I needed to go to a wedding) and it was a comfortable, charming, welcoming place to return to after a day of being out and about. It had all the amenities I needed and a little porch where I drank my tea, read and looked at the flowers. Thank you, Tricia.
Clean, Comfortable, Cute, and Cool - Sunflower Studios has it al
The location of Sunflower Studios is perfect, close to the ferry and bus terminal. The room is decorated in bright colors that make you feel at home. Everything you need for a fun summer trip is provided for you, even snorkeling gear! Tricia is a gracious host who is always willing to help in any way that she can. I will definitely stay at the Sunflower Studios on my next visit to Bermuda.
Thank you for a fantastic stay Tricia!

Wonderful host, wonderful place
Tricia was a wonderful host for myself and my colleague, who were in Hamilton for the NatWest Island Games. We needed a central base with a space to work and room to relax, and we got it here. Everything we needed was there, wonderful air-con and an awesome little kitchen so we could get things in for breakfast and drink a well-earned brew.
Tricia popped in every now and then to check in and make sure all was ok, and could not have done enough for us.
I'll definitely be back, bringing my husband with me this time, for tourist things and not business. Just need to start saving up now!!
Family Fun in the sun in Bermuda
The Sunflower Studios were everything we hoped them to be! Traveling with two teenagers, we booked both studios and that worked out great. The kids enjoyed their private studio and loved having a movie night each evening! The studios came fully equipped with all the kitchen essentials to have quick and easy breakfasts, and snacks on hand, which saved us a lot of money. The location was perfect, exactly what we wanted in Hamilton, a short walk to the ferry and the bus terminal, or a walk right down the hill to waiting taxis. The best part was the service, since Tricia could not have been more helpful and accommodating! We had a fantastic vacation in Bermuda!

Delightful, comfortable and homely, upper level, studio apartmen
This little corner of Hamilton,so close to city centre, was for us a 'home from home'. Our short stay was enhanced by Tricia's homely touches and friendly help.
We loved the little balcony and shady garden.

You must stay here
The Sunflower was perfect for us. We visited Bermuda to participate in the Natwest Island Games so to stay at a home away from home with a fantastic host made it for us. Tricia and her husband were amazing and really looked after us. The apartment was clean, tidy and so welcoming. The little touches that count made it so special. If only I could have brought the bed home with me so so comfy. I was sorry to leave but will be back.
A charming place to getaway in Bermuda
Felt very much like home and Ms. Thompson made sure that I was very comfortable. She is a warm and inviting soul.
Just 5 minutes away from Hamilton with all charm that Bermuda has to offer.
Great place for a couple looking to just wind down and have a romantic getaway.
Great stay! Would definitely recommend the Sunflower
The Sunflower was a great place to stay! The studio is spacious, comfortable, reasonably priced, and in a great location. The owner is very thoughtful, accessible, and responsive. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the Sunflower to others.

Excellent accommodation / ideal location
Tricia was a most gracious host, was there when we needed to ask questions but never imposing. Accommodation was excellent for our needs - parents with two adult children. We hired both apartments and this worked out very well. All that we needed was already supplied in terms of towels, beach towels, snorkels, basic toiletries, etc. Also a supply of Dvd's if you wanted. Tricia also does washing at a very reasonable price; all dried and folded and back within same day/next day. Bbq on site and gas/cooking utensils supplied. Accommodation is 5 minutes from town centre and just up the road from the Princess Hotel.
Secret Garden Sanctuary Nestled in the Heart of Hamilton
For that discerning traveler, Who needs the comforts of home and the proximity of the city at a very reasonable rate, Look no further. Tricia just thought of everything That I would need. Don't have to call for a taxi, They're down the hill at The Hamilton princess 24/7. Miles Market for the healthy eater, And a Myriad of fine and local dining Within walking distance. Dvd library For the whole family (teens too - Original martial arts Classics you can't even buy anymore), you won't even miss cable. Prepaid Digicel cellphone, that has saved me when I need a taxi off the beaten path, and Tricia always has cards for $5. You barely need it with free wireless Internet (enough for Skyping the envious back home!)
Laundry, Turndown service (reasonable extras if you need them) Brand-new rain shower, A mattress that rivals my Tempur-pedic. I can't wait to go back! I don't have to tell you how wonderful Tricia and her family are, Find out for yourself! One side note, smokers are cool as long as you don't smoke inside and respect that windows are open all around. Remember it's our choice, not theirs. The hidden garden and quaint rooms cannot be described - you gotta see it to believe it! I am not going to stay anywhere else (unless she's booked!)
Great location, great price for first time visit!
First off, the relationship started great right away before even getting to the island. Tricia was very prompt to return any questions I had about the rental and she always followed up with me. The rental itself was exactly as described so there were no surprises when we got there. Everything was very clean and the shower and bathroom was brand new. The kitchenette area was a big plus compared to staying at a hotel. And Tricia had snorkeling equipment and beach towels available for use. The unit also has air conditioning! This rental had twice the amenities of the fancy hotel down the street for half the price! The location was perfect for us as first time visitors on the island. The scooter rental was right down the street so it was easy to get to either end of the island to tour around. It was also a quick and easy walk into the city of Hamilton. We slept 3 in the lower unit and the sofa bed worked out just fine, though is more suitable for children. Its unwraps using the cushions as the bed, rather than it being a heavy duty sofa bed with metal supports. Great experience overall and we can't wait to go back!
What a place
What can I say about Bermuda and Sunflower in particular other than its brilliant.
Tricia is a gracious host and presents an immaculate property. Extremely helpful but unobtrusive.
The property is clean, large, air conditioned and an amazing bed.
The location being just a 100 metres from the Fairmont Hamilton and a short walk to all the facilities of Hamilton.
Bermuda is stunning.
Definitely will be coming again.
Well what can i say about Sunflower, other than it was so relaxing, fantasic location, one of the most comfortable beds i have ever slept in!!!
The place was spotless and tidy, and Trisha is a wonderful host, would recommend to any one, we will all be back to stay again.
Excellent value, great location, thoughtful host
We lucked into this great lodging in Hamilton. Comforts of home, small private garden, mini-kitchen for coffee and snacks. Short walk to main street with shopping, restaurants and the bus/ferry terminal leading to everywhere. We hated to leave...
Perfect location & excellent hospitality
Sunflower is located in the heart of Hamilton and was a perfect location for our family of 4 with two boys. The lower studio which we rented for 8 nights was very well equipped, clean and very functional. Tricia is an excellent hostess and was very gracious during our stay, providing us umbrellas on a rainy day or tips for local eateries. We have rented apartments in several locations across the world over the past few years and this was the first one where the towels were changed, trash removed and the room received a minor tidy up every alternate day. I appreciate the effort that Tricia has put into Sunflower. Staying here provided excellent value for our $$s.

Excellent hospitality and great location!
Spent 2 nights at Sunflower BB in Bermuda - which now has become our favorite location:
not only great value for moderate costs (which is very rare in Bermuda) but also a superb location and charming, clean rooms with working wifi, lots of very helpful information and even a local mobile one can use
can only highly recommend this place and hope it isn't booked when we next come to Bermuda
Wonderfully relaxing few days at Sunflower!
My husband and I stayed at Sunflower for a few days as part of our one week whirlwind tour of Bermuda. It was a fantastic stay!
We stayed in the upstairs room. It was clean, neat, and absolutely the perfect size for the two of us and all of our 'stuff'. It was so nice to have a fridge- we were able to have breakfast in our room and even take back leftovers from some dinners.
Everything worked so well- the wi-fi was fast and efficient, the aC was cold (and it was hot outside), the shower was hot with good pressure- I can't think of anything that wasn't perfect. The cell phone use is an amazing perk, the DVD library is unbelievably extensive, and the room has snorkel gear too!
Some other reviews comment about the walking distances. I can't imagine how it takes people 15 minutes to walk to town! 10 minutes, max, even in crazy hot weather! It is no more than 5 minutes to the ferry terminal. There are good restaurants within 3 - 5 minutes- we really liked Bouchee on Front St. and the restaurants on Bermudiana Road.
There are 'whistling tree frogs' that you can hear at night. I found that to be peaceful and relaxing, but if you aren't used to cicadas, etc. it might be noisy to some people. We liked it.
Finally, Tricia, the owner, was great. Very helpful with extra tickets, the cell phone use (which is awesome!!), chatting, and just making you feel at home. She is totally, 100% in the perfect line of work!!
Can't wait to go back!!!

The room very spacious with all ameneties, one would need, with everything provided and more.
Great location for Hamilton town centre, 5mins walk.
Very reasonable for Bermuda!!!
Tricia, the hostess very helpful and welcoming.
Would definitely return there and would recommend it.
Home away from home
I recently spent a week at the sunflower studio apartment. It was a wonderful experience. Tricia has all the details worked out for your at home stay. You are steps away from the Hamilton Princess and all of the action of Front Street. I would highly recommend staying here, I will again.
The perfect home-base
We Loved staying at the Sunflower while in Bermuda. It was very comfortable, and Tricia was so gracious. We felt at home and it gave us the perfect central location from which to explore the island on via scooter & ferry. I loved running around Hamilton in the mornings, and it was an easy walk on foot for evening entertainment. My family used both of the Sunflower's units and it worked very nicely to be close, but also to have our own space. Tricia has thought of everything with the accommodations; snorkels, books, movies, dishes. We'd recommend it to anyone!
Cozy corner close to Hamilton
I really enjoyed this little gem. Walking distance to Hamilton. Handy for the Bus and Ferry terminals. Tricia has thought of everything that you might possibly need and was most welcoming and friendly. There was useful information about near bye amenities. The room was clean the bed was really comfortable.
Great rental studio!
We just stayed at the Sunflower for a week. It is comfortable, clean, adorable and in a great location in the heart of Hamilton. Tricia was really nice and easy to talk to. The studio was well layed out with attention to details and had everything you would need. We rented a scooter for the week and saw the whole island. We did some watersports: jet ski, catamaran, bimini boat rental. Wednesday night is Harbor Nights with a local parade-like show in walking distance from the studio. We ate out some but also went to the market and made dinner on the BBQ grill a couple times. The only place we didn't like was eating at the Harbourfront Restaurant - it was really pricy and kind of snobby - and the food was no better than other less expensive and more comfortable places, such as Flanagans. We would definitely go to Bermuda again and stay at the Sunflower!
great place to stay
We stayed at Sunflower 6/19/12 through 06/25/12.we found Trish to be very friendly and helpful. We rented both units since we were traveling with friends. Both units were clean and neat. The location is perfect.Pleasant walk to both ferry and bus terminal.very close to Fairmont Princess.would definitely stay there again.
Great stay, again!
2nd time staying with Tricia - she's wonderful, and the location of the guesthouse is perfect (near the ferry and bus terminals). Will certainly be back!

Perfect anniversary get-a-way
Having been to Bermuda five previous times in major hotels,
this apartment was definitely not a let-down and perfect for
our budget. We found it to be clean, comfortable and well
located. Five minute walk to Hamilton Princess and 10 minute walk to Front St. Tricia's welcome made us feel very comfortable. She was very knowledgeable and went out of her way to be helpful and accommodating. We look forward to returning to this peaceful apt. in the near future.
Great stay, perfect location, everything you could want in a vacation rental!
Little gem of a place to stay.
we stayed at the Sunflower, we found this little gem through trip advisor, read the reviews. we found Sunflower to be a perfect location for exploring the beautiful island . Sunflower is within walking distance to the city, bus and ferry terminals. Supermarket also nearby, depends on your walking pace 5-10 minutes walk away.We would recommend the supermarkets in Hamilton town which are less expensive. When you arrive at Sunflower , Tricia will have a lot more information on the area. Information also in your room on arrival. You can cook in your room and sit outside to eat and watch colourful birds in the garden. Tricia has 3 cats , we only saw them twice during our stay . Tricia can also wash and iron your laundry all within one day, this for a small charge. There is a washing line available . beach towels available in your room also. Tricia is always around to help and advise you during your stay. Being not far from the bus and ferry terminal you can explore this beautiful island , bus drivers are very accommodating and helpful with your destination , when to get off and catch the return trip. You can purchase a all day pass to use on the bus and ferry all day. would we stay again at the Sunflower, yes , this would be our first choice, there are other small guest houses nearby and large hotels, not Sunflower offers a more personal feel to a holiday experience. We walked a lot exploring small little coves etc with no one else on the beach and getting lost a few times , local bermudian people are very helpful to help get you back on track again. you will find local will stop to help when you get the map out. on 3 occasions locals would drive to the place you want to go to ensure you have arrived. locals will stop and have a chat on your journey , always with a smile. Tricia thank you for a 12 night stay.
Wonderfully equipped studio with relaxing yard, helpful host, a
My husband and I stayed for a week in the upstairs studio (one of two) in early/mid-April. It was our first trip to Bermuda, or any sun/beach island. Bermuda has amazing beaches, snorkeling and sights and the Sunflower is in a great spot to take advantage of everything. The location is great for Hamilton - the bus and ferry terminals, restaurants and shops are all a pleasant 10 minute walk away. All buses and ferries go from Hamilton, which is in the middle of the island so you can be anywhere in an hour or less. (you can rent mopeds from several places nearby as well if you wish). The studio is very comfortable with everything we needed (and them some! it's so stocked there are probably some amenities I missed). Fridge, microwave, dishes, dish soap, coffeemaker, soap, shampoo, hair dryer, 2 sets of snorkel gear, beach towels, a cell phone (great for checking tourist info, in case of emergency, reaching Tricia if need be - $5 phone cards available everywhere), a large umbrella, alarm radio, lots of Bermuda information, TV (no cable but large DVD library downstairs). In the yard: 3 cats (but not in the room), flowers, table and chairs and a gas grill. Not a sterile hotel room environment! You can hear the tree frogs at night which is a lovely sound. The host Tricia has plenty of recommendations for things to do in Bermuda and they were great. She has lived in Bermuda many years and is very familiar with everything. If you live in an rural area and you're used to very quiet nights you might want to bring earplugs for the early morning commute hours as there are some motor scooter/mopeds going by. (This would be true anywhere in Bermuda though.) We didn't mind, although we live in an urban area so some traffic noise is normal to us. The price was very reasonable, it was spotless and we can't wait to go back!
Tricia was gracious host and the room was comfortable and had everything we needed; a mini refrigerator, dishes and kitchen utensils, microwave, beach towels, maps about town and the island, and a small simple cell phone that was perfect for making local calls around the island without driving up your verizon bill! Tricia quickly became a friend, like someone you have met in the past. She was very easy to talk to and answered any questions you had about the island. It really almost felt like we were staying with family or a friend. The Sunflower is a five minute walk to the center of Hamilton, where you can find anything you need... The most useful of places to us were the marketplace grocery store and Hog Penny Restaurant. Our trip was a wonderful experience; staying at the Sunflower with Tricia was exactly the kind of getaway we were looking for! Highly recommended.
convenient, lovely location
easy, pretty walk to town; reasonable rates, lovely to meet Tricia
West Des Moines
Fantastic location and value
We picked this studio because of location and were not disappointed. It's a couple of minutes walk from the Princess Hotel and about a 15 minute walk from the main bus stop in Hamilton. Also, Tricia is a great person to deal with -- we checked in a few hours early and checked out a few hours late and she had no problems with that. We think the value it offers is very good.
5 star service!
We came to Bermuda to run the marathon. The location is just perfect, less then 5 minutes from the start. I love the little kitchen. It really helps with cost if you are on a budget like we are. The service was great. The place was very clean. I had found it on the internet . It was called "Bermuda's best kept secret". Not anymore!!!
Privacy and local comfort
I stayed here with a friend for a long weekend in October. Right from the start, Tricia was very helpful and thorough about making sure we were comfortable and giving us the rundown on the resources she made available for our stay. These included a washer/dryer, snorkel gear and beach towels, a cell phone, local guides, an outdoor seating area with grill, and a vast DVD library (with a great deal of quality anime selections!) . My friend was able to sleep on the pull out sofa included in our apartment, but if traveling with a larger family or group I'd recommend renting out the other unit as well (there are 2 units, each with a private entrance). I enjoyed the local, private feeling of the place as well. We even sat out in the yard late one night and I never saw the occupant of the other unit. Tricia only popped by to deliver phone messages (and to remind us to turn off the aC when we go out. Apparently leaving it on is a big no-no.)
The location of the Sunflower turned out to be great. It's just a quick walk down the street from the Hamilton Princess, where you can go to easily grab a taxi or a drink. It was also very easy to walk to the main streets of Hamilton as well (and I usually tend to complain about long walks), so I never felt cut off or far away from the action.
This is a great spot for practical comfort and good location. The only reason I didn't give the highest rating for "comfort" was because I felt sticky a lot of the time, owing to our conservation of a/C and electricity. Overall, I would definitely return. I now feel like I have a friend and a home away from home in Bermuda.
Exactly what I needed
The room is clean, leisure and business friendly. Micro wave, ref & coffee maker just what I need and use. Oatmeal in the morning on the porch overlooking beautiful flowers is a nice way to start the day. No cable which is fine with me but I understand Tricia has a large selection of dvd's. I catch up with reading and work. Tricia is a doll and always available to help. A nice walk into Hamilton10-15 minutes, depending on if you window shop. After dark I walked to the Princess and got a quick cab ride up to the room. Love the place !
Tricia does an incredibly attentive job of tending to the Sunflower. She went above and beyond, and made sure that we had everything we needed. She even sent us an email with tips for traveling the island upon making our reservation. Really amazing business woman, that one.
We stayed in the smaller of the two rooms. Between two people, there was plenty of space. It was clean with warm water, fresh sheets, and there was even snorkeling equipment and towels for the beach. For someone in reasonable shape, it's an easy (although uphill) walk from the bus station. It's an even easier walk from the Hamilton bar scene.
I highly recommend the Sunflower and would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We traveled to Bermuda for one week vacation. We were looking to stay at a central place, where we could walk to most things and close to bus service.
We choose to stay at Sunflower after reading other guests reviews.
Sunflower turned out to be perfect. The studio was everything we expected.
Tricia made us feel right at home as soon as we arrived and checked to make sure we had everything we needed. She provided us with maps and information and was always willing to answer any questions we had.
Will be happy to stay there again next time and will recommend it to our friends.
!! Follow the yellow brick road !!
Tricia is a wonderful host. She makes you feel as if you are at home. My boyfriend and I stayed at this gem for about 10 days. We got very lucky... and also the weather was beautiful, hee hee! When we arrived we entered an extremely creative, unique and personable one bedroom suite. It includes a refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave, dishes, silverware, dish-drying utensil, comfy bed, tv, dvd (she has an excellent movie library for all to enjoy), free Internet, desk, tons of island info, and gosh... it is just a beautiful place. Tricia reviews some local guidelines when you first arrive, which made us feel very comfortable. She also has put together a helpful arrangement of pamphlets of local businesses which we used and were happy with each one. Bermuda is very expensive and staying at this location saved us a lot of money. We were able to visit the local grocery store and use the brand new grill to cook some delicious steak, fish, corn, and other items. Belive me, this is the place to stay if you would like to enjoy some Bermudian culture, take pleasure in the island, make a new friend, relax, and not spend your last dollar. Also, I must say again that Tricia is, hmm... how should I put it? Oh, yes! - A doll might come to mind. So, basically if you are looking - look no more. This is the place for you, even if you usually prefer the luxurious accommodations of the close by Fairmont hotel, please step out of your comfort zone and into the comfort zone of the local experience of the Sunflower guest house.
Great value on a beautiful island
We rented both units, upstairs for my husband and I, downstairs for 2 teenagers. Both units are very well equipped with anything you may need. Easy walk to downtown and ferry terminal.
Some convenience from home without the exorbant prices of hotels
Tricia is delightful and a wonderful host. The area was safe and a 10-15 minute walk to the ferries and bus station. We traveled with our three year old daughter and the room was a good size for the value. A bathtub would have been better since our little one had never had a shower but it worked. Also, would have liked a pool for more convenience but you can't beat the price for what we received. The kitchenette was wonderful though you had to use the bathroom sink for water. Plenty of places to eat in walking distance but there no sidewalks and the Bermudian drivers are nuts! A little dangerous with a little one but would have been perfect for a couples getaway. Thanks for a great stay!

Thanks to Tricia we had an amazing stay at "Sunflower apartments" and would highly recommend this property to any single traveller or couple. It was the perfect location for town with just a short walk to shops, retaurants, ferry and buses. The accomodation was comfortably simple with all the charm of staying at a friends house. Amazing value and genuine hospitality.
Extraordinary Service and Value
While the cooking area was a little cramped, both the service and extra touches that Tricia provides created an experience that far exceeded our expectations.
This was our first trip to bermuda and we luckily found a wonderful place to stay with a Great Hostess who made us feel comfortable from the beginning .We found the guest house very clean and inviting . It has a very comfortable bed and a nice little area to prepare any snacks or something quick to eat . The refrigerator keeps your drinks and food cold. Snorkle gear and beach towels to use , a dvd library for some movies to watch if you so desire and wireless internet access for your use . The location in Hamilton could not be better. It is within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants in Hamilton and the waterfront , The Fairmont Princess Hotel (free entertainment on Friday nights), the scooter rentals , Bus stop . Tricia gave us some encouragement about renting a scooter, as I must say after the taxi ride from the airport I felt a little uncomfortable thinking about renting a scooter and driving on the island. Do Not be afraid of this as I found it one of the best parts of my trip. just stay off the road during rush hour . Once you have a scooter you can park it in her driveway and have easy access to any beach you desire and anything you want to explore . From here you can access just about anywhere on island in 45 minutes . I did not find her cats to aggravate my allergies in the guesthouse . In fact I did not even see a cat while I was there. If you are looking for a very nice place to stay with most of the comforts of home I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank You Tricia for such a wonderful place to stay .
We stayed at the Sunflower for 4 nights. It was very clean and great location for walking into Hamilton. Tricia was very nice and made our stay comfortable. It was so nice to have a refrigerator and microwave that helped to save on the cost of food!! We would definitely stay here again.

Staying at the Sunflower was like visiting an old friend.
We had the most wonderful stay at the Sunflower this past June-July, 2011. As frequent travelors, we rarely visit the same place twice. After our stay in Bermuda, I can proudly say that we will return. Tricia was the most gracious host, providing us with all the comforts of home. Talking with her was like talking to an old friend. I truly wish we had more time to spend together. The Sunflower is clean, affordable (Yes, even in Bermuda) and literally steps away from any activity be it shopping, dining, a great cup of coffee (Buzz)and ferry & bus terminals. The residential setting offers a safe environment for travelors choosing to stay away from expensive hotels and cruise ship travelors. Tricia proved to be a wealth of knowledge from sites, to events and even thrift store shopping. My wife and I travel often and seldom return to the same place twice. We were so captivated with Bermuda's smile, welcome and natural beauty that we have already discussed returing. The people of Bermuda were kind, fun and beautiful hosts for the eight days of our trip. I suggest Buzz on Front to start your day, grocery shopping near the bus terminal (cheaper than the market near the harbor) and using the week long bus pass which also provides unlimited ferry rides as well. The Sunflower's residential setting is so peaceful that you forget you are away from home. Tricia provides proof that Bermuda can be done on a budget. Why pay more when you can stay at a friend's house? Enjoy, walk the beaches, visit the Swizzle Inn (either or both) and return home to a safe place that is clean, affordable and just a few glorious steps away from anything. I will return, and I just cannot wait. Thank you Tricia!
Cosy and Comfortable
Wonderful place to be right in the center of Bermuda; great proprietor
Excellent value for an expensive island
Thank you Tricia for helping us with a memorable Bermuda holiday! You'll find Sunflower to be like home, except when you open the door, you're on a beautiful island! The Queen bed in the downstairs unit was very comfortable; we slept very well there (except for sunburn...thanks Tricia for a hunk of your aloe plant to help with that). Clean surroundings and we felt safe as well. We appreciated and used all the amenities that come included (except for the umbrella which we didn't need!). Any possible negatives?: The sofa is best as a pull-out bed rather than to sit on. You can always call cabs, but if you don't, you will be walking a good bit to the bus station. I was fine with that but hubby isn't used to walking (good work-out)! If you sleep in, you will hear scooters zipping into town. Favorite places we visited: love horseshoe bay and tobacco bay! Love Bailey's ice cream! Take the free tour of Hamilton with the Town Crier...meet on the steps of Town Hall at 10:30 a.m. weekdays. If you haven't been to Bermuda, stay with Tricia, save some money for food which can run the tab up. You'll be impressed how Bermuda keeps their lovely island clean and civil! Thanks all!
Second time to stay at the Sunflower & booking for next year too
The Sunflower which is owned by Tricia is a wonderful place to stay in Hamilton, Bermuda!! Not only is it the most affordable place to stay but it is on a quiet road with an easy walk to the grocery store, marina, restaurants, ferries and into downtown Hamilton.
I will be making my reservation at the Sunflower again for next summer when my husband is fishing in Bermuda for the Triple Crown Billfish tournaments!
Stay Here Use the Princess Pool.
This is a great value, like staying at a distant relatives house. First i will list the negatives,The place is on the top of a long hill about 400 yards long.I liked having to walk up it at night but this could be a problem.Second your renting a room inside a basement,it has full windows and door like a walkout.Third your not in a hotel with unlimited ice and towels.Last service and check in,you don't have the staffing of a hotel. Now the positives If your reading this your on a limited budget the price is fantastic,We were 400 yards away from 550.a night rooms, in 3 minutes your at the Hamilton Princess. Second very very clean my wife and I would never try to save money by staying at a room that was the least bit dirty , the room was nicely furnished and had a refrig and microwave both came in handy. Third Location Hamilton is were the action is this location was within walking distance to ferry and bus station Forth phone Trica gives you a phone you have to buy the minutes but was a great convience, calling home at .60 a minute.Last and not least Trica is a great host runs a tiddy little Inn,does a great job will stay here again when we come back. She told us how to save a lot of money were to drink and eat and were to shop.Good Luck Mate and have a great vacation.
Bermuda's Best Kept Secret
Sunflower is a delightful little guest studio and Tricia is the best hostess ever. Her attention to detail is superb. We were made to feel special the minute we arrived. Our studio was cheerful, immaculate and the bed very comfortable. It was especially nice having access to a fully-equipped laundry area, so you don't have to pack a lot of clothing. And having the toaster, microwave, coffee pot and refrigerator was very convenient for eating breakfast in (or outside in the garden) and for snacks. The location is excellent; just a short walk to town for shopping, dining, catching the bus and the ferry; yet the neighborhood is very quiet. There is a nearby grocery store as well. Sunflower rates are very reasonable, especially for Bermuda, and I would definitely stay there again.
A nice place
A clean room, no bugs, good location near city center. Hosts were lovely and helpful and you could have your privacy.

Welcoming, comfortable, clean and convenient location
We really enjoyed our stay at Sunflower studios. Tricia was very welcoming and helpful. The studio was compact but well equipped with all that you need. The inclusion of beach towels was great, as was WiFi access. We found the location handy for walking into Hamilton in the evening - a short 5 min walk - and for exploring the rest of the island. Tricia had produced a good map of the Hamilton area, showing key locations such as supermarkets, with routes marked to access these. We were able to hire a scooter and leave it at the studio for collection at the end of our stay.
We would certainly consider staying here again, if we wanted to base ourselves around Hamilton.

Babymoon Stay in Bermuda Sunflower
We were referred to Sunflower by my sister who stayed there a few years back. Tricia was great and the location is wonderful and an easy walk to town, even at 8 months pregnant! She provides beach towels, snorkel equipment, and a movie closet to make your stay more comfortable. She also provides recommendations for restaurants which helped.
This is an excellent place with comfortable accomodations and an easy way to afford visiting Bermuda!
The Sunflower - a Fantastic Bermuda Retreat
Tricia and Thomas are fabulous hosts! Prior to our trip to Bermuda, Tricia was most helpful with information about the island & other inquiries. The location was perfectly situated near the main town of Hamilton, within easy walking distance of the ferry & bus terminals, grocery & restaurants. The room was clean & well equipped - a coffee maker, fridge and microwave made for easy breakfasts and late night snacks. The extraordinary touches are the use of cell phone(local), maps, brochures, beach towels, sunscreen, snorkel & rain gear & honest information. - Thank you Tricia & Thomas!!

clean and comfortable
Clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, and centrally located vacation rental. Short walk to the ferry terminal (make sure you purchase a bus & ferry pass, as the Bermuda transit system is excellent), and downtown Hamilton. Taxi from airport will cost you approximately $40 USD.
Pleasant and very relaxing small bedroom studio in a great location to downtown Hamilton.spotlessly clean and well presented . Lack of TV reception could be a problem to some vacationers.

convient lovely spot to stay in Bermuda
Tricia was very welcoming and accomodating, we had fun while in Bermuda, and the location was close to town, enjoyed having breakfast on the porch, walking to town, and easy for friends in Bermuda to find us.
Quaint, cottage style, convenient location
My friend & I rented the basement room and were quite comfortable. We were able to make breakfast and light meals in the room and dine on the patio. The property is located close to town, so we could walk to restaurants, ferry and bus. Tricia checked in on us each day to make sure we had everything we needed. The local cell phone that she provided was a godsend for contacting our mates in Bermuda.
Fab Stay at the Sunflower
We arrived early evening for our week long stay at The Sunflower and were met by Tricia before the taxi had even stopped. She was helpful and friendly throughout our stay but not intrusive. We stayed in the double apartment which was comfortable and there were extra touches such as umbrella, poncho, pay as you go mobile, web access, hairdryer and iron, which were really appreciated. It was evident that a real effort was made to ensure we were comfortable, which you don't necessarily get at larger franchises. The location was good for us, a short walk into centre of Hamilton and to the main bus stop. We got the week long bus/ferry pass which we made good use of. (Please note that if you plan on walking, most places have limited pavements/sidewalks so care must be taken.)
If you want a place in a good location in Hamilton with lots of character and comforts of home, I would recommend staying here.
We will definitely go back!

Like staying with friends
We stayed in both full size bed and queen apartments, both very nice and homey and clean. Perfect location, Tricia could not be nicer. Kitchen is stocked very nicely for eating in. Walk 1 block to Miles and save money on food.
We left wallet in apartment, called Tricia, she is air shipping it to us with $100 in wallet, gold star for her.
Great find - wonderful owner
Staying at Sunflower studio was like staying with obsessively hospitable friends.
The owner is very welcoming and made sure we were happy at her house.
My husband and I stayed with our two young children and there was just enough room for us. The little kitchen area has everything you need to prepare small meals and a good cup of coffee in the morning.
It is very close to the city center, bus and ferry terminal.

We were locals for the weekend!
This really was a wonderful experience.
Before: Prior to leaving, Tricia was incredibly helpful in answering any questions both about the lodging and the island. She even helped badger the place from which we were renting our scooter via the phone when we had trouble getting in touch with them via email from afar!
When we were there: Tricia's a kind and thoughtful host who is happy to share any information or stay out of your way, depending on your interest, and her husband is happy to help (we forgot to buy milk for our coffee when we got groceries, and he was happy to get us a saucer and even warm it up). The room is exactly as advertised: a studio apartment with warm yellow walls, kitchenette provisions (mini fridge, toaster oven, microwave, bottle openers, flatware/plates/cups, etc.), and a full bathroom. We went to sleep to the quiet whistling frogs and woke up to sweet island birds. And I have stayed places where charming wildlife is really a loud cacophony, but this was not the case at Sunflower Studios. My boyfriend and I slept better than we had in months. And it was nice to feel so at home, rather than in a hotel. We used the setup to keep some bread and cheese in the fridge to save on breakfasts and a few beers for late-night drinks in the cool breeze of Bermuda nights. And if you want to unwind with a movie, Sunflower Studios also has an extensive dvd and vhs library. Finally, should you miss your dog as we did ours, their sweet dog, Swag will happily sate your pup-love desires!
To fellow independent travelers, we couldn't recommend anywhere more. Great home, great location, serene stay.
Sunflower review - Nichole Squair
The location was perfectly situated near the main town of Hamilton. There were plenty of shopping and restaurants easily accessible. The room itself, was clean, comfortable, and wonderfully decorated to reflect the islands culture. This was a perfect place to relax and get away for a few days vacation.
Local, affordable, easy guest room on a gorgeous island
We made many fond memories on this trip, and it started with feeling totally welcomed and at-ease at the Sunflower. This is a 5-minute walk from anything we wanted to see/do in Hamilton, including getting to the bus station which then gave us access to everything on the island (beaches, points of interest, etc). We stayed in the queen studio, which was perfect for the three of us (including our 2 1/2 year old)--more spacious than I anticipated and with a very convenient kitchenette. There was a lovely little terrace and garden space to eat/read/sunbathe outside, perfect for our little daughter. There was everything, and more, that we needed. Tricia and Thomas are fabulous hosts--giving us the scoop on how to get around, personally assisting with anything we needed, leaving us to enjoy our vacation on our own. It was quiet, easy, and nice to feel that we were staying with friends instead of at an impersonal hotel. We hope to come back many times!
Relaxing and peaceful home away from home
This was my first visit to Bermuda. We were extremely fortunate to have found the Sunflower Cottage. Tricia helped in many warm ways. Although weather kept us from using the snorkels provided, we explored most of the island on foot by bus and ferry with affordable week passes (both stations, plus a market are within walking distance) . We especially enjoyed our creatively-furnished room and sunny patio.
great value for alternative to pricey hotel stay in Bermuda
Four of us friends stayed in Tricia's sunflower hotel as an alternative to the high priced hotels..we had both units for 3 nights. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable--each had a balcony or outside sitting area and we used the barbecue to save money one night as food/restaurant prices are high in Bermuda. Water pressure could have been higher, but overall the stay was well worth it!! Tricia was on hand and very friendly and accomodating. We really enjoyed our visit and would definitely stay again there. The walk into town is quick but you have to walk up a steep hill and there are no sidewalks.

What a wonderful location, Close to downtown and scooter rentals. Hospitality was very nice, and helpful .Would definatly go back.
Great time at the Sunflower!
The Sunflower is a delightful guest house in a great location. It's walking distance to Front St. in Hamilton and only takes 5 minutes to be in the heart of the city. I highly recommend it and will stay there next time I'm on the island.
Great location, great people!
This was my second stay at Sunflower (this time for a month and a half), and I will go back there whenever I return to Bermuda! The guesthouse has two rooms, and both have fridges, toaster ovens and microwaves, which gives you some independence and helps you cut costs...food is very expensive in Bermuda so this goes a long way. Hamilton is just a ten minute walk away, as is the dock for ferries to other areas of the island. The rooms are really comfortable and warmly decorated, so you really feel like you're in a home rather than a hotel room. Tricia is a wonderful host and will help you with anything you need. She is hyper-organized (meaning she's thought of everything - a cell phone for you to use while you're there with numbers for taxis...etc. already programmed into it, directions on how to get everywhere, extra toiletry supplies in case you forgot something) but also easy-going (meaning you feel relaxed). My favourite guesthouse by far, and I travel a lot!

Our trip to Bermuda was great. The Sunflower was an excellent place to stay. The town, ferries and bus terminal were all within walking distance. The Princess Hotel is a 4 minute walk at the bottom of the hill, and serves great meals at pub prices in their Heritage Court Restaurant. Trisha and Thomas were extremely good hosts. Hope to visit again. Thanks Trisha!!

Bermuda at its best
I have always stayed in a large hotel in Hamilton but for a change I wanted to experience the local people of Bermuda. Well Tricia is the one that will do it for you. A nice welcome upon arrival and anything she can do to make your stay more enjoyable is a given. The apartment has everything you need is spotlessly clean. Does that sound like a recommendation? I think so.
Friendly Immaculate Guest House
We would recommend the sunflower to anyone seeking an alternative to a hotel. Tricia, the owner is exceptionally friendly and hospitable. From our intial communication via email we found her accommodating and reliable.
We were greeted upon our arrival and immediately shown our colorful, unique room. It was equipped with everything we needed for an extremely comfortable stay. We were both impressed with the care taken in preparing the room for our arrival. She even ironed the sheets :)
The location was perfect for us - a very pleasant short walk into Hamilton and convenient access to restaurants, shops and the ferry.
We look forward to returning soon!

Convenient and Comfortable
Tricia is very helpful and will advise you on the beaches, restaurants and places to visit that would suit you best.
Sunflower is within easy walking distance of shops, supermarkets and restaurants in Hamilton (you will find a map in your room showing where these are)
We stayed in the lower studio which was very comfortable and included a cell phone - this came in handy for booking taxis and other local calls.

Tricia makes it fun and easy while respecting your own privacy
This was my second stay at Sunflower and now I look forward to my annual work trip to Bermuda. It's great to return to this perfect home-away-from-home. It has everything I need: easy walk to shops and town, groceries; a good niche for reading and writing; taxis at the bottom of the hill. Tricia makes it easy and fun, safe and reliable for the single traveling woman while giving you your privacy.

Bermuda hospitality at its best
My husband and I visited Bermuda for the first time and wanted to stay away from the bigger hotels/guest colonies.
Based on other reviews we chose Sunflower and it was a great decision. Tricia, the host, is friendly and great with visitor tips/info. Our room was cheery and spotless. The location is perfect - a 5 minute walk to the waterfront area and another few minutes to the shopping district. The coffee maker, fridge, toaster oven and microwave made for easy breakfasts and late night snacks. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at Sunflower again. 10 out of 10, Tricia!
The Relaxed Traveler
Great Location and Well Organized
Sunflower is a cozy place to stay. If you like the feeling of staying in place that is a home away from home. My room was really clean, in fact I have stayed in four star hotels that cannot compare with how clean Tricia keeps her guest studio. Tricia was very helpful with questions regarding local attractions and how to use public transportation such as the buses or the ferry for getting around Bermuda. I will definitely visit Bermuda again in the future and stay at the Sunflower.

Tricia is the absolute best hostess. She's thoughtful and kind. She and I could chat for hours. My room was spotless and fantastic. I loved every minute of my stay at Sunflower; I didn't want to leave. I would definitely recommend Sunflower.
We had a wonderful time in Bermuda! We enjoyed our stay at the Sunflower! It is located so close to Hamilton and the bus/ferry terminal as well as a grocery store and a local pub (Robin Hood). Tricia was great, giving us advice, directions as well as taking such good care of us :) The Sunflower is super clean and feels like home and has everything you need (snorkel gear, beach towels, coffee maker, cell phone, refrig, and more). We definitely will be staying at the Sunflower the next time we visit! Thanks again Tricia for making our stay in Bermuda such a memorable experience!
A wonderful stay!
We def enjoyed staying at Guest Studios - Sunflower. The room was really clean and nice and Tricia was very helpful and kind. The location is also very good (The best value); close to the center of Hamilton. We would like to go back next summer again! Thank you.
best host ever!
Tricia is awesome and it is the perfect way to see Bermuda on a budget. :) It was like my home away from home.

Tricia's warmth and friendliness made the week a delight.
We were on a tight budget for this our first ever trip to Bermuda, and Tricia's place was perfect. All of Bermuda was at our fingertips with only a fifteen minute walk to either the bus terminal or the ferry terminal. If we were too tired to walk home, taxis were everywhere. After a hard day of sightseeing, we cold relax with cold drinks at her back yard umbrella table. The Queen-size bed was excellent.

Sunflower is the perfect location to stay in Bermuda on a budget
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Sunflower studios. We got to experienced both studios and both are perfect for couple. The location is perfect, in the middle of the island, within walking distance to shopping and the city. We rented a scooter for the whole week and explored the whole isalnd! Thank you so much Tricia for the warm hospitality and the perfect clean place to stay!

Best value in Bermuda, especially if you have a toddler!
When I was researching hotels in Bermuda, the prices shocked me and can't believe that people would actually spend that much for accommodation. We paid 3 times less and probably saw the same beaches as them (spent our four days on the beach -Shelly Bay, Snorkel Park, Warwick Long Bay, Horseshoe Bay & Tobacco Bay). I feel the location actually makes it possible to see all of them, including the Caves because all ferries and buses go through Hamilton. I also want to point out that I've contacted two other guesthouses/B&B; but they don't allow toddlers (understandably). So the separate entrance at the Sunflower is perfect for us, Tricia is such a gracious and accommodating host, and the amenities in the room (microwave, fridge, especially) definitely come in handy when your toddler's eating/drinking schedule does not necessarily match yours. We packed leftovers, bought his milk at the supermarket and even used the grill one night. Sunflower may not be all-inclusive and glamorous, but hey, the era of unlimited me-time and swim-up bars is over for us anyway (at least for now!).
Toms River NJ
Nestled just a block outside Hamilton city center is this charming and surprisingly comfortable and tranquill guest house. My wife and I enjoyed Tricia's hospitality and the Bermuda's beauty. Though just a 2 unit guest house it boasts the best value in the area.
Fantastic Bermuda Retreat
I loved our stay at the Sunflower! It was more than we were expecting and the hosts were incredibly gracious.
The photos on the site don't do the facilities justice. The room is spacious bright and clean with plenty of space for 2 to move about even with luggage (we had 2 full size suitcases). Ample storage for clothes, travel toiletries were provided, beach towels, snorkel gear and beach bags were in the closet for us. The room also had a fridge, micro and toaster oven which made out day. We indulged in cheese on toast on the balcony in the mornings before heading out for the day.
This is the way to go when in Bermuda. We would like to make this a regular trip and plan to stay at the Sunflower every time.
Really, one has to stay here to understand why it is so lovely.

Comfortable and enjoyable visit aSunflower and Island of Bermuda
We stayed at Sunflower from 7/24 thru 7/31/2010..both studios..our family w/2 teenage boys..extra space worked out well. The larger downstairs studio would be adequate for small family w/young child. Bedding comfortable & space/amenities were fine. Tricia was very friendly/helpful & made sure we had everything we needed. Our boys appreciated the available DVD collection/snorkel gear/extra beach towels/(local calls) cell phone. The kitchenette was sufficient for us (no sink-all water from bathrm). We ate breakfast there & packed lunches for outings each day to historical sights/attractions/shopping/beaches all over the island. We even used their bbq. It helped with our budget, as prices are at least 2X more than the U.S., some higher. We walked everywhere..grocery(10-15min), island bus terminal(20min), ferry(15min) and around to all sightseeing. Hamilton is 10-15min 'down the hill' where you can get taxi/bus/ferry to travel around. We used the 'weekly pass' for bus/ferry. The return walk to Sunflower (up the hill) got easier as days went by & we enjoyed our 'hiking'. For those who want taxis, they are easily accessible, waiting in many local spots to be hired. Best public beach we enjoyed w/'surf' was Horseshoe Bay (snack stand/rentals & changing areas/restrms, lifeguards). Best snorkeling was Tobacco Bay (snack stand/rentals, restrms). We didn't get to Church Bay, but heard it also was good. Best family dining in Hamilton--Robin Hood. Especially for our teenagers, the portions fit their appetite & the prices were reasonable. If you like cheesecake, be sure to try a slice of their mango/raspberry..delicious!! Dining at Dockyard-recommend Bone Fish Grill & in St. Georges-recommend the White Horse Tavern..gratuities are usually added onto bills at restaurants (15-17%). Note that there is a Kentucky Fried Chicken in Hamilton (the one 'fast food' place on island). We very much enjoyed our visit and would certainly love to return.
Excellent! Comfortable and clean!
This was definitely the best choice my friend and I could have made for accommodations on the island, especially considering our modest budget. Tricia is very helpful and makes sure that you have a very comfortable stay in Bermuda. I was worried that this place would be very different from what I read online and from how Tricia described it over the phone, but her description was very accurate. The room had everything we needed, including a few extras. It had an aC (which looked like it was brand new), bathroom necessities, bath and beach towels, and even sunblock and snorkeling equipment. And everything was very clean! It was literally a five minute walk to the center of town, so getting around was very easy. The prices are very reasonable as well - the most reasonable I found on the island. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is not looking for a resort-type hotel with a pool and an ocean view. As I told Tricia before I left, I will definitely be back next summer.
Cozy, clean and friendly
The Sunflower was cosy and clean. Just what we were looking for during our stay in Burmuda. Close to the city of Hamilton-but not too close. Trish's attention to detail and attentiveness to our needs was superb.
An amazing find
This has to be one of the best accommodations I have ever found. It is very comfortable, with the owner providing everything one requires. It is very central to bus and ferry transport on the island, and a 5 minute walk from the centre of town. One could not find a better apartment.

How to see Bermuda without spending a lot of money
Stayed at a guest house called The Sunflower - location is great - near downtown Hamilton where you can catch the ferries or buses. Can walk into the city even if you have a walking problem - good exercise. Accommodation was great value and Tricia is very accommodating. Will certainly stay at The Sunflower if we should visit Bermuda again .

Our Enjoyable stay at the Sunflower
We enjoyed our stay in the Sunflower Guest house very much. Trica does her best to see that all your needs are taken care of. The use of a cell phone was a thoughtful touch. The Sunflower is centrally located with easy access to taxis, buses and ferries. A mini kitchen and barbeque cuts the cost of having to eat out all the time.
Outstanding Location, Great Value
Really a terrific place to stay in Bermuda... convenient to downtown Hamilton and so clean and cozy! Would recommend to anyone looking for a great value with warm hospitality.
Good value for money
As most people looking at these reviews would know by now, Bermuda is pricy even for the most basic of rooms. The Sunflower, however, is all you need, clean comfortable air conditioned rooms with all the conveniences of your own home and even a local cell phone to use. The location is a short walk down the hill to the centre of Hamilton and everywhere else is a scooter ride away. Tricia is very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. If you are looking for good value for money, clean rooms in a convenient location then The Sunflower is a great place to start
Such a wonderful place!
Sunflower was a wonderful place to stay! Tricia was an exceptional host and very friendly. The room was a great place to come "home" to and relax after a long day. I hope to be able to visit again sometime soon!
Inexpensive and Central
Not all business travelers are looking for luxury. I stayed at this little guest house while in Bermuda this spring. The room was clean and tidy with easy and free internet acces - essential for my business. The owner was always available when I had a question and was keen to make my stay as agreeable as possible. The place is located walking distance from the business hub and only a few hundred yards from Bermuda's newest watering hole.
holiday to remember
We received a warm welcome from Tricia and Thomas, who were on hand with help or information when needed. The accomodation was excellent and the huge bed very comfortable, we had use of the washing machine which was a boon because we stayed for the whole month. The supermarket was only about ten minutes away, the only drawback was the climb back up the hill, but we think now we have lost a lot of weight this would not be so much of a problem and would not put us off staying in the Studio again. Hamilton was also a short walk away and we were able to join the library' there is also an information centre on the quay which lets you know what is happening each week. Getting a ticket weekly or monthly for the bus or ferry also was very good, saved worrying about change. There are lots of places to visit and the beaches are lovely. We found everybody on Bermuda very friendly, and because my husband is blind the help and welcomeLudham we got made our holiday stress free. We hope to visit again soon and will use the Sunflower Studios again.
It was the perfect Bermuda vacation for us!
Just writing to say that we had a wonderful time staying at the Sunflower guest studios, run by Tricia. She was welcoming and accommodating from the very moment we arrived.
We chose to stay in the lower-level studio, and appreciated the opportunity to cook for ourselves and have our own privacy. Giant resorts can be so impersonal, so it was such a treat to find a place that immediately felt like home.
The location is also great: five-minute walk to a great market to buy groceries, five-minute walk to the ferry terminal and the downtown area.
We loved it so much we are thinking of returning this summer!
The Sunflower in Bermuda Review
I spent the entire month of October at the Sunflower as well as some time in June and July. I loved my room. It was cozy and clean and the owner Tricia really did a great job with the decor which she created. Tricia and Thomas became friends. You could not have asked for better hosts and they tended to your every need. Tricia always kept me informed of events happening in Bermuda. They have everything you would need such as snorkelling gear and rain jackets. The Sunflower is very close to town and all amenities. I would highly recommend the Sunflower guest suites.
Very enjoyable and pleasant stay
I can thoroughly recommend Sunflower apartments if you are looking for a place to stay in Bermuda. Tricia is a very friendly host and will look after all your needs. The apartment itself is comfortable and in a great location being just a short walk from the center of Hamilton.
It was excellent and very comfortable.
The place was lovely and very convinent to town. It was a very easy walk to buses and the ferries. It was also very nice to have a washer and dryer available and the cell phone came in very handy. I would definately go back and reccomend it to my friends.
Easy and Tidy
Tricia was so friendly and helpful to us over the course of our stay. The apartment had all the little things that come in useful, from a microwave and coffee maker to a washer and dryer, even a cell phone for island use, and don't forget wi fi. The whole apartmet was clean and comfortable and it was so easy to go into Hamilton, just walk down the hill. I will definately be returning personally and would recommend it to others.
Thanks again Tricia for making a difficult trip (family reasons) that much easier.
Sunflower guest house
I been in so many countries and hotels around the world because of my work and many times in Bermuda on business and the last 5 times that I worked in Bermuda I stayed at sunflower guest house.Business o pleasure this is the place to stay it is clean
affordable and well maintained place by the owner
restaurants and supermarkets 5 minutes away.
I absolutely recommend sunflower to anyone who wants to spend a peaceful vacation in Bermuda
Thanks you so much tricia for all that you do
for me everytime that I travel to Bermuda.
Out of town accommodation
Pleasant welcome from Trica. Accommodation not quite what expected from on-line booking presentation especially the basement area. Clean and very basic facilities on the outskirts of Hamilton town centre. Fellow travellers found the trek on foot up the steep hill to the accommodation a struggle.
If you are looking for a basic alternative to hotels & don't need all the associated facilities & prime location then Sunflower should be OK.

Safe, Homey, Comfortable, Caring, Great Location
I arrived with a damaged leg and a walker. Tricia could not have been more caring and wonderful in watching over me. A friend had recommended Sunflower and she was correct. This is where I needed to be in Bermuda.
Our room was perfect for us. We had Bermudain style amenities of home. It was great, easy fun. In the afternoon we sat on our little balcony and enjoyed a favored beverage and relaxed. Tricia was available to do laundry, make recommendations, or share a conversation.
Having a kitchenette made life easier. Markets are withing walking distance and if you don't finish your meal in a restaurant, you don't feel badly as you can package it and bring it home for later!
Sunflower is a true Bermuda home with a yard and friendly pets. When visiting you are away, yet connected to Bermuda in a family way. It is a grand experience to share this beautiful island with homeowners. You become more of guest than a tourist.
The location is close to all happenings. We walked everywhere, yes, even with a walker. Helped to remove some of those calories one tends to collect on vacation.
One caution - there are only two rooms at the family friendly Sunflower, so book early and enjoy the wonderfully warm Thompson-Browne hospitality. If you want to go beaching, Tricia offers up beach towels and snorkels. Perfect.
Giving this review is painful, because Sunflower is so special to me. I don't want the rest of the world to know about this gem. Bookings can get tight with pocket-book friendly rates, location and only two rooms.
We are headed back soon and I cannot wait. A conversation with Tricia is a treat. Yes, I booked way in advance! mls, usa

Like staying with a relative...one that you actually like!
I had a wonderful two-week stay at Sunflower Guest Studios in June 2009. Everything - the hosts, the room, the amenities - make you feel like you're visiting friends/relatives rather than staying in a hotel. Tricia and Thomas are incredibly welcoming, funny, honest, truly care about your well-being, and will help you out in any way possible both in preparing for your trip and once you've arrived. The room I stayed in (the smaller of the two) was spotless and the colorful, quirky and warm design are much more personal than most guesthouses/hotels; plus the bed is incredibly comfortable and the sheets super-soft...a very rare occurrence! There are also lots of great little perks - a cell phone to use while you're in town that you can load with minutes, a booklet with info on the basics (nearby restaurants, attractions...etc) and a fridge and microwave. There's a great grocery store just down the road (sort of a Whole Foods style with a good deli/take-away section) and its just a 10 minute walk to the center of Hamilton, restaurants, shops, bus depot...etc. Plus the price is unbeatable (believe me, I looked, Bermuda is expensive!). But at Sunflower, you definitely get your money's worth. I can't recommend this place more!
The Sunflower is a wonderful way to enjoy Bermuda. We've stayed in both rooms on 2 separate occasions and equally enjoyed the cleanliness, comfort and simple amenities offered. The perk about the place (in addition to the wonderful hosts) is the location....you are a few minutes walking distance to the heart of Hamilton and from there have easy access to the whole island. The Sunflower offers a unique local's perspective of what to see and do and Tricia and Thomas made every effort to ensure we were comfortable. I recommend the place for travelers looking for an affordable and down to earth place to stay.
A hidden gem in Bermuda
My stays at the Sunflower have been lovely in every
aspect. A small, private home, meticulously maintained, the Sunflower is cozy and charming. Only
a few blocks from Front Street in downtown Hamilton,
you have easy access to shops and restaurants.
I love visiting the Sunflower and plan my trips
around room availability. I recommend booking early
as there are only two rooms for guests.
When I stay at the Sunflower, I feel like a guest at
a friend's house.

charming little getaway residence, with many extra conveniences
The service from the owner of this guesthouse, Tricia Thompson-Browne, was exceptional. Tricia was a great source of useful advice, and very warm and inviting. There was a local cell-phone for me to use, and the fridge was stocked with basics, exactly what I had asked for. Miles market is just a short walk away for delicious meals and gourmet groceries. The apartment was clean and well-supplied with toiletries and towels, with a mini kitchenette, at a very economical price for Bermuda.
I returned with my mother and daughter in August, so I can attest to the well-functioning a/c. We were so comfortable when we arrived 'home' from the heat and humidity of Bermuda's pretty streets and beaches.
Comfortable, Clean and Great Location
Our company rented both rooms for a last minute business trip and we were pleasantly surprised with the Sunflower Studios. The rooms, while not luxurious, were clean and comfortable with plenty of AC, if desired. They are located just up a steep hill from the Princess and downtown Hamilton, so location is ideal. Tricia and her family were more than accommodating and willing to offer any help or advice we needed. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and enjoyed a more than good value on an island not known for its great deals for lodging.
