Description from the manager
On Kauai’s north shore in the charming town of Hanalei, this Hawaiian plantation-style home is very comfortable and has a fenced yard that is ideal for families. Its location across the street from a beach access path makes it a very short walk to the beach at crescent-shaped Hanalei Bay. 2 houses on one property. Rent both homes for larger groups, Ipo Hale is the back house and larger of the two.

Raleigh, NC, United StatesHome away from home
Left on 04/02/2013 for a stay in March 2013
The house was perfect for our group and he location couldn't have been better. It's a quick walk to the river to paddleboard, a few blocks from town and right near the beach. We rented both houses which made it extremely convenient for us. The house was clean and well maintained, with a big kitchen for our group to gather. It's perfect for a reunion or (in our case) a graduate class trip.

This house is not somebody's home, but a plain rental house. It is clean, tidy and practical, but lacks in personal touch.

Springfield, OR, United StatesA Great Place to Stay with a Few Flaws
Left on 01/06/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We rented the house for 11 nights/12 days in early December 2012. The house was immaculately clean. The kitchen was well equipped, with a large refrigerator/freezer with an ice maker, quiet dishwasher and excellent pots and pans. There was a good selection of dull kitchen knives. The kitchen facuet had the button missing for turning on the fine spray; we informed the agency, but nothing was done about it. The square dining table expands to a round table (but the extensions droop, one precariously). We enjoyed using the charcoal grill; a table next to it would be nice.
The master bedroom and king bed were very comfortable. The small balcony off the master bedroom had only one chair, the bedroom had none. All rooms had ceiling fans. There was only one floor fan, but when requested, two more were delivered on the next day.
There were 3 beach towels, we requested one more, and 2 more were delivered the next day. There were plenty of good-quality bath towels. One shower head was badly encrusted with calcium causing a very harsh spray. We informed the agency, but nothing was done about it. The clothes dryer had damp towels in it when we arrived.
The lanai is quite narrow and had no reclining furniture and there was no outside seating area.
The master bedroom has a vintage14" CRT TV on a cabinet too low for watching it comfortably. The living room has a 23" LCD flat screen TV, but no list of cable channels. The secure wi-fi was free and very fast. There were adequate ceiling lights in the living/kitchen/dining area, but only 2 table lamps in the master bedroom. The lights in the utility room did not work, but were replaced two days later. A few inside and outside lights did not light.
In comparison to other rentals we had in equally good locations in Hanalei (better maintained, fewer deficiencies), the cost was a bit high (almost $500 per night including fees and taxes). -

Denver, ColoradoOk House but not suitable for young Children
Left on 12/07/2012 for a stay in November 2012
Our rental broker urged us to choose this house over the front cottage and we were very let down. While the house is clean - it is not suitable for young kids. Very little Lanai with a lot of steps and no grass, sharp rocks under the house. The front house is very much on top of the house in front, banging doors and little privacy. Love Hanalei, but would not rent this house again with small children.

United StatesIpo Hale a gem
Left on 09/25/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We shared the house with another couple- plenty of space! This property is well cared for and is perfectly situated- 2 blocks to the beach, 2 blocks to town. We took advantage if their concierge, who was quick and professional and was able to get us booked at events. She wasn't pushy and was able to provide us with answers to all of our questions. I will always go with Hawaii Life!

Shackleford, UK, United StatesGreat stay in Hanalei
Left on 09/09/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Ipo Hale has a great location, on Weke Road which runs parallel to the beach behind the beachfront properties. Easy access to beach. Also convenient for stores and restaurants in Hanalei centre. Property itself is spacious with three good sized bedrooms which was plenty for our family of 5. Also a large sitting room/dining/kitchen area. Good to have a barbecue available to use and various beach toys. Other than bedrooms and crockery/cutlery, the property is furnished more for 4 people (that number of dining chairs on lanai and around dining table). Lanai has just enough space to dine on. Other house on the plot is pretty close and means there is effectively no garden, just a parking spot, but that didn't bother us during our stay. Similarly lack of curtains in bedrooms 2 and 3 may bother others, but was fine for us.

I loved the place. My only complaint is that I think if you're renting the place for two weeks, the housekeeper should come once during your stay

Fredrick, CA, United StatesPerfect vacation
Left on 07/04/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We rented both cottages w a group of eight adults. Ipo Hale was our gathering place for meals and hanging out together. Served it's purpose well. Very enjoyable. Excellent spot to enjoy Hanale Bay, the town and all of the activities available on the North Shore. Highly recommend this if you're looking for reasonably priced, casual, relaxing, quiet accommodations.

We were pleased with our first experience renting a house in Hanalei, Kauai. It was convenient to the beach and the town, was safe, and I thought the house / kitchen was well stocked with everything you needed to cook and enjoy a meal there. There was some basic staples there such as olive oil and butter (that we had forgot to purchase) that was appreciated. Wish we would have known there was beach towels provided and we would not have brought our own.

This is a perfect spot to vacation with your family. Our family was able to enjoy the freedom to walk to town or beach. Other snorkeling beaches were a short drive away. We love Hanalei.

Pleasanton, CAGreat location; Updated; Nice Layout
Left on 07/07/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Overall, we had a nice stay here. The location is excellent - 5 minute walk to beach and center of town. The house has been recently updated with 6-panel doors, modern hardware, newer windows, crown molding, etc. Great for kids as it is set off from the road. The only things I didn't like as much -- the common areas (kitchen, living room) never felt cool (didn't catch the trade winds, fans didn't do the trick, no A/C like most homes in the area) and the living room TV is small. Management agency was very professional and responsive. I thought it was a good value price-wise for the location and the updated features.
