Truckee, CA, United StatesNeat property but very hot!
Left on 10/07/2012 for a stay in September 2012
I would not recommend to anyone who is looking to nap babies and kids in the middle of the day! Very hot and sticky and for the money I would expect air as an option if needed! Alas the property was very clean and had a great location.

We've been coming to Hanalei since 1979 and have always stayed in a home on Hanalei Bay. This was our first time to stay at Lani Kai. It has a beautifully landscaped yard, gorgeous view of the ocean, just out the back gate you are at the beach and the house itself is really very lovely with an open and a great floor plan. We also appreciated and used all the nice extras like the boogie boards, ping pong table, beach chairs, puzzles, cards, CD player, the bbq grill, lounge chairs and eating fresh oranges off of the trees! We loved staying there and will be coming back!! And I must say working with Hawaii Life could not have been easier or more pleasant. Everything was wonderful!
I do not want this to go in the review because we loved everything about Lani Kai. I just wanted to say when we got to the house around 9:30pm we were beyond exhausted from the trip and hungry. We ate and were ready to go to bed and was a little disappointed the twin beds in the office were not made up with sheets. Since we had never stayed there before we had to look for the sheets and then make the beds. It would have been a nice to get to just fall into bed. No huge deal, just would have been a nice. This is only a suggestion since we had 8 staying there, but if the rooms with the 2 double beds and the little office had mirrors in there would have helped. We'd all shower and then go to our rooms to finish getting ready, but we were all trying to get to a mirror for final touches. ALSO, not a big deal, just a suggestion! We are very spoiled by the houses on Hanalei Bay we have stayed in and Lani Kai is certainly one of our favorite places!!! Can't wait to come back! MAHALO!!! -

Lani Kai was a perfect rental. A great view of the ocean yet set back and private from the beach. The house is beautiful, very clean with a well supplied kitchen. To find this rental online and have it turn out so pleasing was wonderful. If the owners want to make it any better, add a hot tub!

We could not have been happier with Lana Kai. The location is ideal right on the beach, yet walking distance to town. The house was absolutely beautiful, stocked with all the items one could wish for while cooking or heading to the beach and impeccably clean. The landscaping was beautiful. To find a home on the internet and have it turn out as well as it did was nice. I was concerned about rooster noise before our arrival after reading a previous Tripadvisor review, but the management assured us they would work with us on this issue, but they didn't need to because we hardly heard any roosters while we were there. This is a 5 star property - one that you feel lucky is available to rent!

United StatesBeautiful Location but too Loud.
Left on 02/15/2012 for a stay in February 2012
The location and the home itself is great. The layout of the home is perfect. The beach is nice. BUT the noise from the chickens/roosters through the night was unbearable. The roosters in the front yard start crowing as early as midnight and continue through the night until 7am. And it's LOUD. Several nights I physically got up at 12, at 4am, 6am and went to the front yard in order to scare the roosters out. This happened every night except the last night when someone with a dog checked in to the house next door and i guess that scared off the roosters.
My family and I have NEVER had a worse week of sleep. No matter how wonderful the location may be it can't make up for lack of sleep. And vacations are meant to be restful. So, as a result I could never recommend this location due to the noise. Which is a shame because the house is so great.Response from Hawaii Life Real Estate Services - 06/04/2012

Aloha, Thank you for your comments. Kauai is known for it's roosters and we do our best to help alleviate the noisy early mornings. Had we known of this issue during your stay, we would have set cages already set up in the yard to attract the animals and remove them from the property as humanely as possible. The owners valued your experience so they offered a 50% refund of rent for the inconvenience. Since your departure we have had zero complaints in regards to roosters. Should they start crowing again, we are prepared with cages. We do hope that you will return to Lani Kai and enjoy Hanalei Bay again. Mahalo!
