Thank you for viewing 'Blueberry Ledge' on the bold ledge frontage of Taunton Bay in Hancock, just 25 minutes to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Our cottage is perfect for a quiet getaway and sleeps four adults comfortably or up to six people when using the loft bedroom.

Enjoy privacy and comfort in this quaint cottage. We have put a lot of special care into this cottage. We hope you will come and enjoy the peaceful surroundings as much as we do.

Built new in (2004), this 2500 square foot, three-bedroom cottage sleeps six. The... main floor includes a large master bedroom with queen bed and full private bath. There is a nice guest room with a queen bed; another full bathroom;large foyer, full kitchen, dining area, and living room with a granite fireplace. The Cottage has cathedral, native cedar ceilings, floors are tile and hardwood(carpet in bedrooms)

The loft is complete with two twin beds and a cozy, tranquil space perfect for reading or relaxing, overlooking the living room and bay.

The walk-out basement boasts full views of the bay as well. Along with the view you will enjoy board games, cards, puzzles, books, or peaceful moments awaiting the changing of the tide every six hours, which offers a new and exciting view every day.

Each room is complete with large windows and sliding glass doors opening onto a large, private deck overlooking the bay.

The home is located on a very private lot offering 600 feet of rugged, bold, ledge frontage where the home sits on a point high above the shore 75 feet from water's edge. There is easy access to the shore or you may choose the lounge chairs high atop the point. We do not have a beach.

A heads up for parents with small children; although the ledge frontage is beautiful, in places it is very steep and drops dramatically into the bay.

Start your days picking wild blueberries, August and September only, for your very own muffins, cereal or pancakes. Just a quick jaunt off from the deck will land you in the blueberry bushes atop the ledge.

Spend your days exploring Maine's coastal towns or visit Mount Desert Island with its many villages and Acadia National Park. Opportunities are endless, including whale watch trips, boat rentals, fishing, swimming, kayaking, shopping, tennis or make use of the many hiking trails.

Ellsworth is only seven minutes away, where you will find a variety of shops and stores. However, Country Stores are nearby for all your basic needs. Our cottage is the perfect center point to begin your exploring regardless of your destination. (We are approximately 30 minutes away from Bangor, Blue Hill, Bucksport, Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, Milbridge or Cherryfield.)

If you need a break from the daily site seeing, cook your own lobster on the deck with our outside steamer, or enjoy steaks and burgers on the grill. These options let you enjoy your vacation to the fullest.

This delightful coastal community offers many dining opportunities as well. We keep menus on hand to show the local "hot spots".

Our cottage is located 7 miles from Ellsworth on Rt 1.
Regardless of the direction you wish to explore, many wonderful places and adventures are within a 30 mile radius of the cottage.
Bar Harbor is a short drive, 25 miles away..traveling on Rt 3 to Mt. Desert Island you will find several places to eat fresh lobster! A wonderful gift shop (Mainly Maine) and other great activities. There are wonderful places "off the beaten path" which are many times overlooked and I have complete details to share.

  Perfect spot for a quiet vacation. My wife and I spent the days visiting interesting towns and attractions in the area and "lunching out". Whale watching is a must - we saw 15-20 of them. The lobster truck about two miles out of town provided the makings for several dinners after happy hour on the wonderful deck. The cottage is well-furnished and has everything a guests and gourmet cooks need, including many condiments/spices. My wife is a cleanliness freak and Wanda gets an a plus in that area. While technically "waterfront", the low tides in the bay inhibit and beach-type activities,but the view is nice.

  For new guests thinking of staying at your cottage, the overview of the cottages states it is located on "rugged, bold, ledge frontage where the home sits on a point high above the shore 75 feet from water's edge".
  We do not have a beach as the entire cove is beautiful bold ledge.

  Wonderful vacation spot!

  We have been renting a cottage from Wanda for the last several years. She has become our good friend! Our cabin is always spotless and ready when we get there. The view from the porch is stunning. The kitchen is well equipped and we make most of our meals there. The Lobster Pot is so handy as we cook lobsters at least a couple of nights! Our grandsons love to pick blueberries from outside the cabin for pancakes! A wonderful family vacation, close to acadia Park, Bar Harbor, Ellsworth, etc. We plan to rent from Wanda as long as we are able!

  We happened upon this beautiful cottage while doing a web search for homes near acadia. We had traveled to Maine on our honeymoon and wanted to return with our daughter. The home was more than we could possibly have wished for. We have rented many homes for our vacations and are used to having to pack and bring even the basic things like a sharp knife for cooking. Needless to say, we unpacked nothing! Wanda and Bill thought of everything...soft fluffy towels, red and white wine glasses, all you need for a great barbeque and even a lobster pot that is actually big enough to cook lobsters! The home is beautiful and a very short drive to the park as well as the many other attractions in Maine. There is so much more to see there than just acadia and this home is located perfectly to do just that. Whether you want to take a day trip to site see or just relax on the deck and watch the bald eagles or deer that visit each day. The house is actually built on top of a rock that is exposed in the basement-great for photos and provides natural air conditioning for hot summer days. This one is too good to pass up!
