ChicagoWe enjoyed a lovely week at The Kottage.
Left on 09/06/2012 for a stay in August 2012
The Kottage has all the ingredients for a perfect vacation. The bedrooms are comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, the linens are plentiful and the common room is spacious and perfectly set up for socializing. We loved sitting on the swing on the porch. Everything is clearly marked and instructions easy to find. We especially enjoyed using the outdoor grill and the fire pit - big hit with my teenagers for making s'mores! Great to have the beach so close, as well as Lakeshore Road for biking. And our new favorite Harbor Country spot is the Swedish Bakery, which is a just-right walk from the house to work off a few calories from the pastries! My only critique is that the house does not have beach chairs, which are a nuisance to pack in the car. Otherwise, a perfect spot and well-equipped house.

Nice cottage w/all the amenities. Really loved where
Situated and going down to beach. Kids, 9 & 6, really enjoyed also.
They loved having their own nice rooms upstairs. The only negative
is that the bed mattresses are extremely worn out or just
Of very bad quality. They need be replaced to be in line
W/the high quality of the rest of the Kottage. Great kitchen.
Oh yeah, no shower bath soap in any of the bathrooms, that
Should be provided. But. Overall really nice place and had an ejoyable
Stay. Also, working w/Rsvp was a pleasure.Response from RSVP Rentals, Inc. - 04/30/2012

The master king bedroom mattress was replaced last year(2011) with a Select Sleeper mattress so I can only imagine either you didn't mean that one or didn't know how to 'select' it for your comfort. I will speak to the homeowner about the other mattresses to see if they need replacing also. Thank you for your input and feedback!

Clean, extensive and comprehensive kitchen utensils, good climate control with multiple fans and balanced a/c, quiet, and reasonable distance to beach. Only area of concern was lack of comfortable seating in living room and porch.

Thank you for your comments! I will pass along your seating concerns to the homeowners who, I assume will take your issues into consideration.

Overall the Kottage is a great rental. It is in great condition, well laid out, roomy while still feeling cozy and homey. Small things we noted: put "real" doors on screened in porch to keep out mosquitos, floors were sandy/dirty when we checked in, put in a larger washer & dryer so check out is easier on guests.

Left on 08/01/2010 for a stay in July 2010
This home is decorated to look like a model home. I am a stay at home mom of 3 kids: 8, 6, 11months. The upstairs bedroom with the twin beds and reading nook my two girls fell in love with. The other upstairs room with the queen bed my 11month boy slept in his pack & play. The master bedroom has a large walk in closet and on suite bath with a wonderful large steem shower. The great room has a 2 story fireplace. The floor plan is well thought out. The mud room is off the back door. When we returned from a day at the beach we dropped all our stuff there. It went straight into the wash. Beach toyes, flip flops etc were washed in the slop sink. The handy battery powered dust buster cleaned up any stray sand before it could be tracked throughout the house. This house is walking distance to the beach and a very short drive to the Swedish backery. The pictures do not do it justice! There are so many creature comfortes like TV/DVD, fans in each bedroom. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, pans if you want to cook & all on stainless appliances. In this house you do not feel like you are intruding on someone elses space but it appeals to the masses. It is almost hotel like but not cold. We will go back this september to view the changing seasons. I would recomend it to all.

CosyKottagers
Chicago, IllinoisA Complete Gem!
Left on 07/19/2009 for a stay in July 2009
This was our third summer vacationing at The Kottage, and there are reasons we keep coming back: the house is clean, comfortable, nicely appointed, and perfectly located (although we hope the "public" beach is not further narrowed). We can point out only two drawbacks: as with most rentals, the smallest investment seems to have gone into one of the most important details--the quality of mattresses and box springs--how about fewer TVs and a mattress to guarantee a good night's sleep? Second, the backyard area gets little to no sun, and so can become a bit moldy, especially after this year's extensive rain--something should be done to control the moss and erosion of the brick pavers. But these are mere quibbles: this is a beautiful, quiet, airy, comfortable summer home located just a short walk from an uncrowded sandy stretch of beach. Everything about it spells complete relaxation: the sauna and indoor whirlpool, the cool screened in front porch, the pleasant shady walk to the water's edge, and the convenience to local attractions (e.g., Cap'n Mikes charming amusement park and the divine breakfast at Louisa's). We love this "cosy cabin" and look forward all year to returning.

Great weekend get-away from the city. Easy to find and a short walk to the beach. House was furnished very nicely (my husband loved the flat screen TV in the living room) and kitchen had enough supplies for the weekend.

Peaceful and Perfect!
Left on 08/27/2008 for a stay in August 2008
The Kottage had everything we could have wanted! It was spotlessly clean when we arrived and they provided every kitchen utensil, pan or tool you could ever need. The house is beautifully shaded so it always remains cool and the large screened porch and spacious backyard provided wonderful outdoor space for our toddlers to play and for the adults to relax. The beach is a short walk down the road and it is spectacular! (Beach access is via some stairs which would not accomodate wheelchairs, etc.) There are plenty of restaurants very nearby if you don't feel like cooking. We had an absolutely wonderful week and hope to return soon. The Kottage is peaceful, quiet, well appointed and has everything!
