The staff at seaside getaways went above the call of duty in helping us to find a property that would accept our dogs.We were surprised at the quality and condition of the dog friendly property that was above many we have visited in the past in every way.We have always rented at Hunting island cabin row in the past because we enjoyed the secluded setting. Now that that area has washed away we were happy to discover that Harbor island is also pristine and private. We believe that Harbor island is a great value over properties on Fripp island and with much less of a urban golf vibe. The kitchen was modern and nice and the overall property was comfortable. We hope that we can stay at this location next year also.

Knoxville, TNRelaxing, comfortable and so enjoyable!
Left on 07/18/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We loved everything! Loved the house, location, service etc! Seaside Getaways contacted us before, during, and after our experience to make sure all was well. They are so organized and do not miss a beat. A recommendation is that the kitchen needs to be equipped better with cooking utensils, and more dishes. We cooked a lot and it made it a little difficult with the kitchen being sparsely equipped. Need more furniture in the living room. Not comfortable enough for 4 or 5 guests. We loved the home, though. It was decorated beautifully! Airy and bright colors made us feel great and so relaxed! We felt like it was our's and it was sooo clean! We were close to the pool, Hunting Island and shopping in Beaufort. Everything that we needed was right at our finger tips.

atlantaGreat house, but...
Left on 07/04/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Nice house, but lots of dead and live bugs. Cleaners need to do a better job of cleaning behind the TV etc. They also need to re-stock the silverware, there we only four knives so I was constantly doing the dishes so that we would have knives. Also the bottom drawer of the refrigerator would not open, so we lost that room for storage. Very frustrating when you have a loaded frig. Rental staff was great (Audrey!!!), we appreciated their assistance with helping us find a last-minute rental. Great location on the island and loved the screen porch. Also, dog friendly :-)

Athens, GeorgiaA great stay for our second time
Left on 06/15/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Our second stay here with our boys (11 and 8) was just as great as the first time. The house is just the right size for our family, and we love the screened porch and the closeness to the beach. The house was clean and very well-maintained. We'll definitely be back!

Left on 05/03/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We knew we'd enjoy the area, but we had not idea how lucky we'd be to be visiting during nesting season when dozens of baby birds were hatching and growing right before our very eyes.
The house was well kept and clean. We didn't mind the lack of updates referred to in the palms ratings. Everything was perfect from the comfy King bed to the magnificent screened-in front porch with its hammock and swing. Chase & Bailey, our two Labs found it especially comfortable and welcoming.
Our initial purpose for the visit was fly-fishing in the area with a side trip to Laurel Hill Wildlife Drive. It was a bit windy this particular week so we didn't fish at all, but the wildlife in the back yard lagoon was mesmerizing, the beach was fabulous for walks and wading, and we took jaunts to Hunting Island, Laurel Hill, Savannah for wildlife viewing. We ate delicious food at Dockside, Boondocks, and Johnson's Creek and stored snacks "at home".
The place is outfitted with everything you forgot to bring! We're pretty sure we'll be returning ... maybe next Fall if time permits.

This was our second stay at Break Time and it did not disappoint. The accommodations were perfect. A short walk to the beach, a screened porch for rocking & swinging, and best of all an observation deck to watch the Great Egrets nesting. We even had a daily visit by an alligator who rested at a sandy spot in the backyard.

Lexington, KYBeaufort Vacation
Left on 03/07/2012 for a stay in February 2012
We loved the area. Beaufort was really nice and we liked the location of the house. It was very comfortable and we loved watching the alligators sunning themselves. We would recommend that the home owners upgrade the living room furniture. We are getting up there in age and the furniture was hard for us to get into and out of. It sits so low to the ground and it is getting worn out. Also, they should invest about $25 in a coffeepot with an automatic shutoff. It would eliminate the coffeepot overheating and possibly starting a fire. It is a small price to pay to help protect your house.
The management team was terrific to work with and we appreciate them so much!!! -

The perfect beach home for a family of four
Left on 03/01/2012 for a stay in July 2011
Our family "found" Harbor Island a few years ago when searching for a South Carolina beach getaway that was not crowded and commercial. We have been back several times and now consider it to be "our place".
Go-cart tracks, putt-putt and t-shirt shops are not our thing - beautiful, unspoiled natural barrier sea islands are.
We always rent from Ron & Greta at Seaside Getaways and absolutely love their service. They are just like Harbor Island - friendly, personal and welcoming.
We've stayed in a couple of different homes, but really found Break Time to fit our needs perfectly. The house is situated on the marsh and is just a short walk to the beach. We love having the best of both marsh and beach as we watched egrets and aligators from the balcony.
There are two large bedrooms that accommodated my wife and I along with our two children (13 & 10). The screened front porch is a great perch in the afternoon for a nap or to read a book. The kitchen is far from gourmet, but is simple and well appointed enough for our low-country boil and other traditional nightly family dinners. The property has a gas grill, but we did not use it while there.
We travel with our dog but always worry that 'pet friendly' means 'smelly & messy'; not true for Break Time. It is clean and neat and ready for your beach getaway.
We will be back! -

This was a lovely home in a good spot 1+ block from the beach and pool. The house overlooks the rookery and that's awesome.l. Bird watching from the back porch or just looking out the window was a constant form of entertainment. Even got to see a 10 foot alligator in the lagoon. We had friends come for for a day and they wound up staying over. It was truly a pleasure for them as well.

This was our first stay on Harbor Island. We have been guests on Hunting Island for 35 years. With the erosion of Hunting we needed a new place to stay & Harbor Island was a wonderful find.
Our home was very comfortable. Loved the observation deck up top to view the wildlife in the early morning & evening. The front poarch with swing & rockers was great for afternoon cocktails. We enjoyed the beach especially at high tide. I even saw a loggerhead turtle while out for a morning run. We will be back!! -

Left on 06/23/2011 for a stay in June 2011
This was our second time staying at this home and I highly recommend it. The lagoon behind the house is gorgeous, filled with wonderful birds, turtles, and a few alligators. The beach is only a few minutes' walk. The island is peaceful, and the people are friendly. Great place to relax.

Left on 05/18/2011 for a stay in May 2011
This lovely little house is about a five-minute walk from the beach, but we often found ourselves more interested in the view off the backyard than the one at the ocean. The house backs onto a bird rookery, which, when we visited in May, was full of egret mothers carefully tending to their babies. From time to time the peaceful scene was punctured by the presence of an alligator surveying the scene for dinner prospects. One of our group actually saw an alligator scoop up a baby egret who fell from the nest.
We were a group of four adults, and the only downside of this vacation home is the twin bed set up in the second bedroom. The beds are tiny and just not comfortable for adults. Everything else was perfect. -

Burford, Ontario, CanadaGreat March Break on Harbor Island!
Left on 04/04/2011 for a stay in March 2011
We stayed at Break Time for the week of March Break and loved it! The house was just the right size for our family of four (two boys ages 10 and 8) and the location was perfect. We loved being on the canal! It was like having a wildlife sancuary in our back yard! Every day the alligator would come to sun himself on the patch of sand directly across from our back deck. The egrets were building their nests, and we got to see their progress over the course of the week.
The walk to the beach was short and easy, and the beach is fabulous - one of the nicest beaches I've ever been to. We spent some time at Hunting Island State Park, which we all enjoyed, and did a bit of shopping in Beaufort. The house had everything we needed and was very clean with charming seaside decor. My only recommendation would be for the owners to purchase some 100% cotton sheets for the master bedroom. We would definitely stay at Break Time again. -

Left on 09/20/2009 for a stay in June 2009
We loved the house, especially its location on the rookery. We also really enjoyed the screened porch and spent a lot of time on the swing.
Although the house is close to the beach, we have a two-year old, and use of a golf cart would have been appreciated.
Also, based on the web-site regarding the accommodations, we expected a crib in the house (there wasn't one). -

Left on 09/18/2009 for a stay in June 2009
Stayed here for a week with our two boys (8 and 5) and had a great time.
House was clean and just the right size for the four of us. Everything was well-
maintained, and kitchen was well-equipped; had absolutely no problems
during our visit. Great screened-in front porch and linoleum-floored back
entry made it easy to keep the house clean. Screened porch with hammock
was fabulous in the evenings. Also loved the roof-level balcony in the back,
with it's great views of the rookery and lightning from distant storms. Very
short walk to the beach. We plan to come back, that's for sure.
