We have been vacationing in the Low Country for 35 years. This is our first stay and Charleston Charm and it was wonderful. Although the weather was cool and windy for half of the week the accomodations were the best. A lovely home, an ocean view, and a great reading selection. It was a comfortable and relaxing week. We would definately come again!!

Bethalto, ILThe most relaxing vacation ever.

Everything was wonderful. We loved the house and the location to the beach and pool was great. Harbor Island was fantastic, very quiet and peaceful. Everyone was very friendly and the private beach was great. The only thing they need to do is extend the walkway to the beach just a little further so that it goes all the way to the actual beach sand.

This is a comfortable, nicely furnished home in a gated community. There is not a lot of commercialism in the area so be prepared to relax, sit back and enjoy the time with your family, The convenience of two beautiful pools and a short walk to the ocean makes your stay complete.

We thoroughly enjoyed this beach house - the location, the decor of the home with all of its amenities, made our stay wonderful. The house furnishings were comfy and well appointed, and the home was stocked with plenty of items, some of which, turned out to be an added plus - kudos for this. The hot tub was put to use and enjoyed by each of us - a nice treat at the end f the day. We thoroughly enjoyed use of the gas grill and captured lots of pics of the wonderful porch views. The only downsides were that we couldn't get the DVD player to work in the living room, which the kids found disappointing, and a golf cart was not included, which we typically use. This is a wonderful home and we thank you for providing such a lovely place to enjoy our beach trip!

Thank you for recommending Charleston Charm. It was excellent! Very clean/neat. We don't eat out, so the well equipped kitchen was awesome. The gasgrill is awesome. Pictures don't do this justice. The location is the best on the Island. There's a pool right in front of the backporch and the ocean is just past it. The upstairs MBR faces the ocean. The 2 smaller bdrms are upstairs too and face inland(they both have french doors & lead out onto an upper front porch for viewing the beautiful sunsets). The MBR has a good size walkin closet & large masterbath. The MBR bath has a separate shower & big jetted soaker tub. The ClubHouse is directly across the ST(larger/deeper swimmingpool, volleyball, playground, kiddie pool, workoutroom, tennis/basketball and bike rentals). A Golf Carts is not needed (everything is so close). What we loved the most."sunrise". Mbr faces the ocean to the NE, so you can lay in bed & see the sunrise every morning(it comes up directly through the french doors. their are two sets of french doors in the MBR).The views/sound of the ocean is excellent from both back porches. Charleston Charm's back porch faces the ocean, so its in the cool shade by noon each day. The highs were in the mid 80s, but because of the ocean breeze & the shade it was cool sitting on the upper porch outside of the MBR(really). I love the beach, but I'm no sun-worshiper(I love the cool shade for reading). The hottub on the lower porch being at deck level was a great idea(it doesn't get in the way of the view, but it also gives you privacy late at night).Recommendations:1 have a working DVD player in the livingroom & put one in the MBR(my son likes to snuggle before bed each night & watch his favorite DVD). 2 put a hammock on one of the porches oceanside. Luckily I had brought one with me & I could not imagine not taking one of my afternoon naps without it(laying in my hammock in the shade on the upper porch with the cool ocean breeze/sounds knocks me out every time).

We stayed at Charleston Charm with our daughter and her family, which included 2 young children. We had the most fabulous time! The house was immaculate when we arrived and so stylishly decorated, too. My husband and I had the master bedroom and loved opening the two doors at night while watching TV. There was an absolutely gorgeous view of the pool, which is lit up at night, and the ocean. The kids had lots of fun swimming at the pools. We also loved watching and listening to the egrets and other birds at the estuary near the big pool, which is straight across the street. Everything was close. We even enjoyed our trips to the grocery stores which were easy to find. We took a day trip to Charleston and had a wonderful time there, too. Beaufort is a wonderful and beautiful small town. My husband and I want to rent this house again in the fall of 2013. We are looking forward to it. We loved it so much!

Harbor Island is lovely with attractive and fresh looking homes. Be prepared for a couple of glitches, and you will enjoy yourselves. This home is nice. Naturalistic and protected area & it was everything we needed in that respect. Nice quiet beach with a couple of pools on site. Wish the property did include bikes or golf cart. House interior is good, and bright morning and bright late afternoon light. Sleeps 6 & beds are comfortable. We did cook most all of our meals.
Tw o2 tvs, lest you be confused by the printed information. Large book & movie collection.
Beaufort is a lovely city to visit and dine. In Charleston was a cruise dinner- Loved that visit.
There were 2 problems- trash collection, so we carried trash daily to a recycling and trash site about 1/2 way to Beaufort; we probably would have been going that direction- Publix, liquor stores, and dollar stores being that direction.
Secondly, our family did arrive and leave on differing days; total of 4 vehicles, with only quick overlap, yet which did require at least 3 passes. (Every car has to have a pass, even a 45 minute visitor.)
The first day we tried to bring alternating vehicles in to unpack, gate guards seemed to believe we were out to "no good". The first few minutes on Harbor Island, we were threatened to be given a ticket by the gate-keepers. Bought 2 passes, adding $100.00 more for the cost of the week.(One pass is included.)
We were there just one week before their school year ended. Was relaxing and quiet visit. Both neighborswere really nice folks. All owners seem to use the golf carts to travel about the development. As a result, there is little vehicle noise.
Hunting Island State Park- we bought the annual pass which is all of S.C. State, including the beach parks. Well worth the money.

Left on 11/02/2011 for a stay in October 2011
The house and beach were beautiful, couldn't have asked for better weather for my daughters wedding... The only negative thing was the extra cost for parking for more than one car. We had extended family staying at the house, some were from out of state and also, on the day of the wedding, the cost of the car passes for the guests for only a couple hours. Other than that, we had a wonderful time...

We traveled to South Carolina for our son's marine bootcamp graduation at Parris Island. This beach house was the perfect setting for our family. The beach was so alive with wildlife. The whole family had a great time. We had a wide range of ages, from my father-in-law, age 83 to my grandson, 8 months. thank you for sharing your home.

Syracuse NYWonderful Ocean Views
Left on 05/06/2011 for a stay in January 2011
We were very pleased with the house itself and the great views of the atlantic. Harbor Island itself is a quiet location and the community pool is only 2 minutes from the house. The ocean beach, less than a 5 minute walk, was generally people scarce during our stay , from January 1 through april 16.
The house contains a hot tub which we didn't use. The only change I would suggest would be to place the telephone on the first floor to avoid the trip to the master bedroom to answer a call. The house is not wifi but that did not pose a problem as we could tap into a nearby server.
Overall, I would highly recommend 4 Shipwatch Circle and the people at Seaside Getaway were pleasant to work with. -

This particular beach home and beach was more than exceptional! We have visited almost every beach / resort on the SC coast (no kidding) and have decided Harbor Island to be our favorite. It is perfect for families with small children or families looking for a stress-free vacation. The home itself was very, very clean upon arrival, tastefully decorated and offered more than enough kitchen utensils, towels, etc. (There was an unbelievable collection of VHS movies and books ... but who had time for that?) We loved the proximity to the beach, two pools and the club house for internet access. A golf cart or bicycles would have been nice, but with everything else being more than perfect, we were fine without. The rental process was friendly and hassle free. We would definitely stay here again and plan on it next summer, but will need a bigger place since we are bringing more people!! See ya'll real soon! SMJ
