Ridge Loft is a 2.5 star rated property located on top of a hillside in Birchwood Farms Golf and Country Club. This cottage is a budget valued rental with a sleeping loft, spiral staircase and birds-eye-views. Our guests called Ridge Loft “a cozy little treasure of a cabin”, “a great getaway in the woods”, “quiet, peaceful and pleasant”. This past Christmas, I was fortunate to be able to rent this lovely Ridge Loft through Holiday Vacation Rentals, and stay during the holiday. The day of my arrival, I was unable to get in touch with HVR to let them know that I would be later than my estimated time of arrival. Due to a snow storm, they lost power, but that did not stop HVR from from going above and beyond to have the Ridge Loft ready for me.
I would recommend Holiday Vacation Rentals.

We enjoyed our stay at the Ridge Loft. The location of the home is wonderful and we were able to ride our bikes and walk the dog around the Birchwood Farms Country Club. The house was very nice, but could use some minor maintenance and upkeep. The slider doors both worked very hard and were difficult to lock. The only other issues would be the spiral staircase which leads to the lower level where the bedrooms are located. This could be a bit challenging for some people. The loft upstairs would also be a challenge as there are steep steps (ladder) to go up to get to this sleeping area. If you had middle age kids, they might find this area quite fun. But, I would not recommend it for very little kids.
The only other issue we had was with the "mildewy" smell downstairs. The dehumidifier ran non-stop and we emptied it at least once a day. If we did not leave the windows open during the day, the lower level smelled very musty. There was also some mold on the shower curtain, but when we asked for a new one, we were given one very quickly and were able to change it out.
Overall, the house was very nice. It was a great location, especially if you would like to bring your pet. We had a very nice time.Response from Holiday Vacation Rentals - 04/18/2013

The issues about the sliding doors has been fixed and the possibility of adding a second dehumidifier next summer is being addressed with the owners. The shower curtain in the lower level had mildew, but not mold, at the base and we were more than happy to replace it for you. Thank you for making us aware of these issues and helping us to better improve our services.
We agree Ridge Loft is a great home for families with older children but may not be the best choice for families with young children or older adults. We hope to see you again soon!

I appreciated the great price and perfectly clean and well equipped accomodation. My girls especially liked the loft and the tire swing out back. The pictures of the condo and country club really don't do it justice and that was a very pleasant surprize! Best sleep on vacation I ever got thanks to some very comfy mattresses! The pool and tennis courts on the premises are first rate and the beautifully quiet woods surrounding the condo were very calming. I hope to return again next year. Thank you again to the owner for adjusting his vacation so that we could stay thru sat!

Beautifully located in a very wooded area. Very peaceful, quiet, and private. The whole development is very wooded so it was very pleasant to take walks and ride our bikes. It is about a ten minute drive to downtown Harbor Springs.
The cottage is very cute, but the bedrooms are in the basement and there is a serious moisture problem. There needs to be a humidifier that runs continuously, at least in the warmer months.Response from Holiday Vacation Rentals - 04/18/2013

We loved staying at this great little house in the woods! It's perfect for a quiet getaway as a couple or small family! Though the listing said "basic" amenities, we found the property to be way above "basic" -- a lovely woodstove, wireless internet, cable tv, comfortable beds, lovely open living/dining space & full kitchen. We had a great time! We'll be back!

This is a charming little place nestled in the beautiful
woods only a short drive from downtown Harbor
Springs. I don't think we could have found a better
place for the money to have a great ski getaway. The
fireplace was perfect for warming up after a day on the
slopes!
My only advice would be to bring your own DVD player.
TV was nice but only VHS equipped at the time of our

"Cozy Little Treasure"

We planned a spur of the moment trip to Michigan and did a google search. We located this "Cozy little treasure" of a cabin tucked in the woods. It was moderately priced and fit the budget of a middle incomed family with 3 kids in tow!
We loved waking to deer wandering by the property or grilling on the deck and watching them graze nearby. The location was great! We loved shopping in Harbor Springs, boating, biking, Cherry picking, picnicing at the beach and visiting Mackinac Island as well as Sleeping Bear Dunes.
The kids flipped for the loft/bedroom area above the family room area. They loved having their very own "hide away." Our children are ages 10, 12, and 15 years of age so we were comfortable with them climbing up and down the ladder. The home is very clean and well maintained. The home owner provided every convenience and stocked the home with lots of extras - pillows, blankets, paper products, etc.
The property is a little older and smaller but it had a great feel like staying at grandma's house - Quiet, peaceful, pleasant!
For the value & price of the rental, this property exceeded our expectation! Great home base for all the touring we packed into our week! We would rent this property again!We had a wonderful week in Michigan!Response from Holiday Vacation Rentals - 04/18/2013
