Johannesburg, South AfricaAmazing Stay
Left on 03/07/2013 for a stay in February 2013
My girlfriend and I went to Kosmos for one night over the weekend. The room was amazing, clean, kitted out with iPod stand, fridge, TV, Aircon, nice rope lights to set a very nice mood for the evening and good comfortable and clean bedding. The manager can be intimidating but I think this is more a function of her personality than her hospitality. The Jacuzzi was covered up and the wooden planks on the second story patio were loose and unsafe. Our drinks of choice were available and we spent an amazing afternoon by the pool, the view, outside furniture and feel of the place was amazing. One of the best days we've spent. We then went to dinner at a nearby restaurant called The Silver Orange which is absolutely incredible (Kosmos did the booking and arranged a special favour for us which was very helpful). The breakfast and coffee were great although all the places were set up at one table (my girlfriend and I prefer privacy) - The manager was more than keen to set up a new place for us at a separate table though. All in all we had a wonderful stay at a very reasonable price. The staff are also very friendly and helpful.

Johannesburg, South AfricaBeautiful - pity about manager

We stayed at the Kosmos Guesthouse on my husbands birthday for one night. The guesthouse is beautiful and the view amazing from the patio however there are maintenance issues which need to be dealt with urgently for eg tiles falling off the sides of the pool and lying loose next to the pool (could cut your feet if barefoot) and the wood planks on the patio that need to be replaced - very dangerous as they are coming loose and you could fall through and get hurt, possibly why the manager urgently wanted us to sign an indemnity form! The manager however put a complete dampener on our little trip. She did not leave us alone for more than 5 minutes whilst utilising the pool and patio area and was extremely bossy and interfering with our son of 3 years old who was swimming with us and had a life jacket on and is a relatively good swimmer. She made us feel most unwelcome during our stay and we breathed a sigh of relief when immediately leaving after breakfast after she once again informed us exactly where we must sit, that our son must sit between us at the table, that I must not use a glass for him but a plastic glass she had put out, that he must not use a knife whlst eating, he uses a knife and fork to eat since 2 years old and that he must not touch the water by the jacuzzi. Sadly we will certainly not return until new management. Brochure is very misleading with a photo of children playing in the pool and jacuzzi. Not child friendly at all and sadly poor to no hospitality - unusual in Sa. The manager get shouting at the poor staff members all the time infront of us which made it all reather unpleasant. The other staff members Emma and Jacob were lovely, pity they do not run the establishment as they seem to do all the work and still get shouted at all the time.
