This is a luxury one bedroom self catering holiday cottage and is ideal for relaxing holidays, romantic breaks, short breaks and weekend breaks, situated in an idyllic location.
Honeysuckle is within part of a two storey āLā shaped farm building built just after the Napoleonic Wars in the 19th Century which was formerly a dairy on the ground floor and hayloft on top. Honeysuckle Cottage is located on the Hartland Peninsula in North Devon. It is one mile from the Atlantic going west, one mile from the Atlantic going north and three miles from Bideford Bay going east.
Honeysuckle is set in the landscaped grounds of Downe House a listed farm house dating back to Tudor England and is one of a small number of Victorian farm buildings which have been converted by the present owners into holiday cottages. Downe is surrounded by farm land and provides a perfect retreat.

LondonFantastic place for a relaxing getaway

This would be our second time at Downe and we absolutely loved it both times. Jeremy and Lynda seem to think of everything. Set in the most idyllic surroundings on arrival we were warmly greeted, the cottages and nicely furnished and everything is catered for.
Jeremy and Lynda also provide a comprehensive guide to local places of interest and eateries and we worked our way through the extensive list (We are looking to continue working through it on our return)
We also tried to ready prepared meals which I have to say were also of an excellent quality and the breakfast baskets were also very good, Hartland, a short drive away was also very nice for the other odds and ends that you may need.
What stands out more than anything else is the absolutely warm welcome that you receive from them, they are just so accommodating and friendly and the cottages and extremely well stocked with absolutely everything you could think of.
We are definitely looking to return soon and are trying to organise for some friends to come along as well.
I would also say that the place is extremely child friendly, away from the all too familiar arcades and theme parks (although there is one not too far away (Big sheep fun I think its called)
Definitely worth a visit. Excellent!!! -

The standard of accommodation exceeded expectations and the attention to detail in preparing the cottage (Honeysuckle) for holiday lets was so comprehensive that even the most discerning guests would find it difficult to nit pick.
The owners, Jeremy & Lynda Roe, extended a warm welcome and provided lots of very useful local information and recomendations about the area (The meals at Downe are worth a try). -

Our stay at Downe was so enjoyable, the cottage is beautiful and cosy and the amazing breakfast and home-cooked meals left for us as arranged just prior to our arrival set us off for a totally relaxing week. The location is stunning with a spectacular sweeping view of the point and Lundy Island and gorgeous gardens right around us.
There are heaps of places to visit and things to do in the local area, and Jeremy and Lynda are able to suggest any number of possible itineraries and specific recommendations for places to eat or beaches or drives to enjoy. And of course, an indulgent treatment- or two- in the tranquil spa just a few steps away from the cottage is a must. We can't wait to visit again! -

Hartland is a remote and unspoilt corner of England, with excellent coastal walks. If a day of sea vistas and cliff top walking appeals to you this is a perfect area in which to take a break. If perfectly presented and comprehensively equipped cottages with wood burning stoves and HD television suit you, then I recommend Downes Cottages. Jeremy and Lynda Roe have painstakingly restored a series of traditional farm buildings and incorporated high quality conversions. The cottages include fully equipped kitchens, allowing total independence if desired. Jeremy and Lynda also offer a pre-booked meal service using fresh local ingredients for your convenience. We did not sample the food or the extensively equipped spa during our 4 days stay, instead we entertained our 4 year old with seaside visits and country walks. A very peaceful place to unwind and relax.
