Surrey, EnglandExcellent apartment in lovely Palm Beach Condominiums, Hastings
Left on 08/29/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We dithered over whether to book this apartment or one at Sapphire Beach, St Lawrence Gap, both through Carolyn O'Dell of BarbadosBarbados.com (who was extremely patient, friendly and helpful).
We are so glad we chose 106 Palm Beach Condominiums. This property has just come onto the rental market and is in excellent condition. The photos do not do it justice - the actual apartment is spacious, very comfortable and well equipped. The British owners clearly care about their property. Being on the ground floor made access to the pools, beach and sea very easy.
Palm Beach Condominiums is a lovely friendly development spread out around 3 good-sized pools (different depths, from about 2 ft 6 to about 4 ft 6) in beautiful well-kept landscaped gardens. The other apartments seemed to be occupied by a good mix of long-term residents and holiday home owners as well as some holiday rentals.
Out through the boundary gates and you are on a quiet and soft white sandy beach. There is a small reef about 20 m out into the clear sea and we loved swimming there especially at low tide to watch the masses of fish around us. We did not even have snorkles but still saw loads of fish through our swimming goggles.
Paradise.
Palm Beach Condominiums is set off the main road (although it is called "Highway 7", the road is only one lane wide each way - quiet by most standards) and not affected by traffic noise. You can walk to 3 small restaurants in 5 mins (Mamma Mia, Tgifridays and 39 Steps) and a few decent ones in about 15 -20 mins. (Tapas, Naru). (None are cheap, by the way. Even a takeaway for 4 of us from "Just Grillin" cost us Bds$140 ie almost £50). Plenty of bus stops around but we did not use the buses as we had a hire car - driving was very easy, especially if you are used to driving on the left.
Would we stay here again? Definitely Yes.
However, the only "fly in the ointment" was the housekeeper who was called Mandy. We found that she had a tendency to walk into the apartment unannounced, at different times of the day and then made her stern presence felt in all the rooms. At one point, she left a pile of wet sheets on the kitchen breakfast bar (while I was cooking lunch) while she went off to another apartment to clean! If the same housekeeper was employed, we would stipulate the most minimal contact with her.Response from Realtors Limited - 10/12/2012
