Les Gites Fleuris is located on a quiet semi-private single lane road in the picturesque Perigord/Dordogne Region, with fantastic views over the valley. La Petite Rose house is a traditional 1 bedroom, 18c stone farm cottage with large sunny windows overlooking the gardens. It has a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, living room with big fireplace, TV with DVD player, wireless internet access (Wifi), and CD player. The salon has a sofa sleeper for 2. You have an outdoor dining terrace with barbeque, a wonderful place to relax over a home cooked meal! This home combines centuries old French charm with modern comforts.

Relaxati...on is easy somewhere on the large 6ha property with gardens, fruit and walnut trees, swimming pool, and jacuzzi. We are family friendly with: ping-pong, badminton/volleyball, croquet, swinging on the swing set, or in the children’s raised fort with climbing wall. An indoor games room will keep all the family entertained with billiards, games, toys, ping pong, and Disney video cassettes. There is a central laundry room with washing machines and dryers which you can use at no extra charge.

Hautefort is a great bicycling and walking area with rolling hillsides and lovely forest and valley views. All services are within walking distance: 1 km to boulangerie, grocery store, and bank. 2 km to tabac, post office, and the office of tourism. 2.5km to a swimming lake.

Perigord is THE place to go if you love truffles and foie gras. This little corner of Southwest France is home to the black truffle, one of the most famous and expensive luxury foods of France. (Truffle Markets are open in Winter!) It is also the land of foie gras-- that typical French delicacy made from fattened goose or duck liver, along with other Canard specialty dishes. We have many good restaurants in the area. The wine regions of Bergerac and Bordeaux are only 1 hour to 1.5 hours away.

There are many famous tourist sites: grottes (caves), Troglodyte sites, Bastille towns, Castles, and old villages are within a 1-hour radius away (Lascaux is only 20 minutes).Valley’s with castles where one can easily imagine bandits, knights in armor and the primitive life of the peasants. Many sporting activities in the area: basketball, tennis, soccer, volleyball, bocce, canoeing, fishing, etc...

Step back in time to the old France of farms and castles and caves and stone villages; and after touring, enjoy a wonderful bottle of Bergerac or Bordeaux Wine with some of France's famous cheeses!Read more

Additional Location Information

Hautefort is a small 17c village that has an impressive castle perched on a hillside. The small village has everything to make your visit easy and special. Grocery store, bank, boulangeries,butchers, post office, and the office of tourism.
Visit local sites(5km) of the Chateau de Hautefort, the Grotte de Tourtoirac, and the museum of medicine.

  The picture on internet was enough for us to book Les Gites Fleuris right away, and we were not disappointed. The first week, my husband and I stayed in the romantic La Petite Rose. We enjoyed the garden very much and were pleased to have out own home-cooked diners there. We explored the wonderfull and caracteristic environment with our bicycles. The second week our young-adult daughters (17 and 21) arrived and we moved over to the the bigger house that had everything a family could need and more. The great terrace with the view was wonderfull. Even though the country side is very quiet, there is plenty to see and do. We were alle very sorry that we were not able to stay a few days longer, not in the least because we really enjoyed the hospitality and kindness of Renate and Larry!

  Relaxing and Idyllic

  The minute we pulled up we both knew we'd booked the right place! Birds were singing, the weather was perfect and the scenery was beautiful. We stayed in the smaller cottage, called 'La Petite Rose' which was perfect for the 2 of us. 'La Petite Rose' is a lovely, authentic, quaint cottage which is also self-contained with everything we needed. (We're vegans so we cooked our own food each night). We thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the garden full of roses and other aromatic flowers, enjoying local bread and wine and absorbing the deeply relaxing ambience.
  
  The other amenities such as bikes, swimming pool and well stocked playroom (including a pool table) were great when we wanted to do something a little more active.
  
  We were on a whistle-stop tour of Europe and we booked 'La Petite Rose' as more of a stopover but we didn't want to leave!
  
  Larry and Renata are top notch hosts. Can't recommend this place enough.
