Description from the owner
Haroldston is a large, detached, stone-built Welsh farmhouse, with plenty of room so that everyone can be together or find their own space. This makes it an ideal self-catering holiday cottage. It is located in beautiful open countryside, near to the market town of Haverfordwest but remains tranquil at the end of its own 300 yard long private lane. This provides our visitors with the best of both worlds - peaceful surroundings and the convenience of the shops and bars of the town, which is only 1 mile away. The house is centrally placed in Pembrokeshire's road network to make the whole of this wonderful county easily accessible.

Winter Walkers
DevonA good base for a winter walking break
Left on 06/19/2012 for a stay in February 2012
We used Haroldston as a base for walking part of the Pembrokeshire coast path during the winter with a group of friends. It offered warm, clean, comfortable and spacious accommodation and the big farmhouse kitchen and lounge with it's cheerful open fire were great after a long day's walk. Martin and Jeannie had put the heating on well ahead of our arrival and made us feel very welcome.

Had a really good break in Wales ...loved the house and all the information that was provided. Children loved the pool table. Slight problem with the showers so this maybe needs looking into but otherwise no complaints at all.

Mrs Towers,
Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your holiday and our house. We're very sorry that you had problems with the showers which we suspect was due to a recent reduction in water pressure. The local water authority have been informed and are in the process of investigating.
Since this review, we have now installed a shower pump to overcome problem with the water pressure. -

This is our second stay at Haroldston farmhouse and I can not fault it. Its a beautiful old building furnished in a charming old fashioned way and you feel "at home" as soon as you arrive.
The children love the fact they can run around the many rooms and long hallways without distributing anyone. You can easily accommodate 10-12 people ( and 2 dogs) in there without feeling over crowded.
Martin and Jeanie, the owners are lovely people and will do anything to make your stay better.
We stayed in the winter, so the log fire made the place very cosy. The very large kitchen is in the centre of the house so everyone can chip in with the cooking while having conversations and a drink.
For those who want to venture out and about there is a swimming centre, activity centre, bowling, theme park, mini zoo, kids farms and beaches all within 20-40 mins drive.
We will certainley be back as you cant beat the price when you split it between extended familyResponse from Haroldston Farmhouse - Jeannie & Martin Low - 02/04/2012

Left on 01/03/2012 for a stay in December 2011
The facilities at the farmhouse exceed our normal rentals catering for large families. The special touch of a xmas stocking and gifts for all of our party (including our dog) was a lovely personal touch.
I would not hesitate to recommend this to other large families, there is enough space to have quiet areas for the not so young and the children and adults all loved the play room with the pool table and dart board. The location is within easy distance of the coast but lovely and quiet to return to after a busy day out.
Shopping and all amenities are close by and Tesco's delivered all the groceries to the door which cut out all the stress of shopping when we arrived.

Our Hosts martin and Jean were a loverly couple could,nt do enough, small problem with TV sorted out immidiately. The house was great everything you could need, furnished beatifuly and spotlesley clean.
Haraldston Farm is ideal for touring this glorious area, not far from all the amenities but still felt like you were in the countryside.
There is nothing I can say that our party disliked, we would recomend Haroldston farm to party,s of all ages.
The games room was ideal for the younger members of our group and on the whole it was child friendly enough for the three year old in our party.
All in all our party would highly recomend Haroldston Farm.
We hope to return in the future.

Left on 10/31/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Great location and lovely cosy Farmhouse with excellent hosts, we loved the log fire at night. So much room to spread ourselves about, grandchildren & & 13 spoiled for choice with the entertainments available from pool table, darts, Dvd's and reading books not to mention the numerous games available for all the family.
The dog loved the gardens and the nearby walks. We could not fault the cleaniness of Haroldston and all the goodies for us on arrival not forgetting Paddy (dog) and Rhubarb (parrot) left by Jeannie and Martin. (It's these little thoughts that set you apart from other houses we have stayed in.
There are comprehensive files of local activities and general information regarding the area we were spilt for choice. Broad Haven is excellent for Rock Pooling while Newgale for kite flying and surfing. We have visited Pembrokeshire over the last 30 years and still found places of interest within the information packs.
In all it was a perfect week's holiday and even the times when it rained it did not bother us, all cosy and warm inside Haroldston Farmhouse, we would certain recommend this Farmhouse, and as a testiment my grandaughter wished to stay there forever. We were all sorry to leave, but hope to be back in the very near future.

We have just returned form a fabulous week at Haroldston Farmhouse. It was everything promised from the website and much more. The location is stunning and it is so lovely to hear birdsong and nothing else. There are lots of beaches within easy reach, our favourites were Whitesand and Barafundle. The house is very well equipped and comfortable and the owners are on hand but not intrusive at all.
The folders of local information were very useful, particularly the local take-away menus. All in all we think that this was one of our best holidays ever.Response from Haroldston Farmhouse - Jeannie & Martin Low - 10/06/2011

I found this place by chance and am delighted we did. Stayed here with extended family (all adults) for 4 days in September while attending a wedding. It certainly ticked all the boxes for us and I am flavour of month for finding it!! Wish we could have stayed a week or even longer. The house itself is spacious & well equipped. Perfect house for groups of adults or families (great games cupboard & pool room!) Great location for exploring the surrounding countryside. We even did a mega drive on one of the days to Hay on Wye! Lots of great beaches nearby & lotos to see and do in the area. Plenty of info & brochures in the house so you'll never be stuck for ideas for what to do and see. The welcome pack is a nice touch & Jeannie & Martin were very helpful from the initial contact with them right through to a thank you email after departure. Dooley the cat kepts us entertained while we were there. We will defintely try and make it back and have recommended it to others. Free Wifi was a great bonus also.

Having decided to stay at this farmhouse and made the booking it was care and attention to detail by Martin and Jeannie the whole way. Making sure we had directions and sending instructions through the post that were very helpful. On arrival we could not have been made more welcome, the farmhouse was immaculate and so much room for our group. Our visit was to spectate our daughter doing the Welsh Ironman so we were in and out of the farmhouse at all hours and Martin and Jeannie took a real interest in the race.
We stayed an extra few days to take in the sights and just relax in the wonderful surroundings. It is very convenient for local visits to Milford Haven, Tenby and Narberth which we went to.
We can inform you that all previous positive reviews are more than justified and if you are looking for a place to stay in this area then look no further.Response from Haroldston Farmhouse - Jeannie & Martin Low - 10/03/2011

Haroldson Farmhouse catered well for our family party of eight adults and five children. We had a lovely welcome. The house was clean, spacious and well presented. We were provided with lots of information about the surrounding area. The central location was very good for sightseeing. We made good use of the games room, especially the pool table. The younger children also enjoyed the garden and the swing. We would have made more use of the garden had the weather been better.
My only suggestion for improvement would be another upstairs bathroom, as we did at times find ourselves in a queue.Response from Haroldston Farmhouse - Jeannie & Martin Low - 08/22/2011

Mrs Methley,
Thank you very much for taking the time to highlight the benefits of Haroldston and the surrounding area. We are always pleased to receive constructive criticism from our visitors on which we try to act where practicable. The problem with adding to the existing 3 bathrooms is where we would put it? We have always tried to retain plenty of 'breathing space' within the house which we have achieved by not attempting to pack too much in. Anyway, it is certainly something that we may consider in a future update. -

Left on 05/16/2011 for a stay in May 2011
There were 12 of us all togther ranging from grandchildren up to grand parents! We were all easily accomodated in the one house which is in a great location. We had just 3 days but would have happily stayed far longer. We tried to cram as many activities in, including go-karting, boat trip to see seals and other wild life, visiting a farm and a trip to the beach. All age groups were happy with most if not all choices which is probably why the trip went so well.
We did have a slight incident with one of the cars having a bump but Martin and Jeannie were extremely kind and very forgiving! They looked after us very well when needed and let us get on with our holiday for the rest. Very good hosts!
We have not done such a large family holiday before so were not sure what to expect but this worked out extremely well! I would highly recommend this to others - especially families.Response from Haroldston Farmhouse - Jeannie & Martin Low - 05/17/2011

This was our second trip to Haroldston which gives you an idea already about what we think about it. Three leaders and seven members of the youth club (plus dog) had a brilliant time staying in the farmhouse - the games room is a stroke of genius. The hospitality pack waiting for us was incredibly generous and the young people were seriously impressed. It made a good base for our exploration of the area and had enough to keep the young people entertained for the weekend. The house has a lovely atmosphere which we are convinced has been created by the owners and everything is comfortable and good for a short or long stay. George the dog was particularly impressed with everything and so were we. In fact for the first half hour of driving home I was quizzed about when we could go back...

My family and I stayed at Haroldston for a celebratory birthday weekend away and had a fabulous time.
We had three children in our party and they were never short of things to do, and spent hours running around in the lovely garden, and playing the games provided in the games room.
We had everything we needed in the house, the kitchen was really well equipped as was the laundry room, which proved usefull after our days out horseriding and on the beach!
We all loved our evenings spent in the cozy living room around the open fire, we even let the resident black cat join us!

We all liked the games room i actually scored 140 a couple of times and all enjoyed the pool table spent some time in there. None of our party had any dislikes about anything with the accommodation or the surroundings only praise we all loved the wild life and vocal Greg the banty that visited us on a regular basis with his various girlhens plus a very loving young black tom cat that treated us as his family. We booked haroldston farmhouse for the february school holiday week . On arriving we
were greeted with a welcome pack which was much appreciated. We were given time to look around and then were welcomed by Mr Low. The farmhouse was very spacious, well equipped and clean. The pool and darts room is excellent . We all particularly enjoyed the sitting room with the log fire and spent most evenings comfortably in there. We could use any amount of logs from Mr Low which was a surprise as usually in our experience with other cottages, owners tend to charge you after the first batch. There is a lot of thought gone into the information packs that were provided, also our two younger members of our party enjoyed the games cupboard and I myself enjoyed reading some of the many books.Response from Haroldston Farmhouse - Jeannie & Martin Low - 03/12/2011

We arranged to stay at the house for a large family gathering, a get-together to celebrate a special birthday. We did struggle to find the house a little at the beginning (not easy in the dark as it is well off the beaten track!) but the quiet surroundings were a bonus. The facilities were excellent - spacious but warm and comfy. We made use of the well equipped kitchen to cook a birthday meal and we had a great time, even despite rainy & windy weather. Not far from some lovely walks and beaches. Overall a lovely house in a very nice setting. and the owners made us very welcome. Also dog and child friendly, again a bonus.

Great harwood LancashireA great place to stay with friends & family
Left on 02/09/2011 for a stay in January 2011
This is a very central location from which to access Pembrokeshire. The farmhouse is extremely roomy so plenty of space to spread out in. The kitchen is a delight for sharing family meals together. We stayed in winter and were kept very warm with central heating & an open fire, supplied with plenty of fuel.
We had everything we needed & more. Wish we could have used the BBQ. Bird life too.
Come & try the property, you can't fail to be delighted -

Left on 01/03/2011 for a stay in December 2010
Wow what a great house ! Stayed there for New Year with extended family group age 5 - 59 years. The house itself is huge and even with 12 of us never felt crowded. Its is very traditionally decorated so no huge plasma screens but this adds to the rustic charms and its nice to get away from the technology. The house is set in farm land but close enough to the town and supermarkets. Its 15 mins to the nearest beach by car. The dart board & pool table had plenty of use and with the free wifi connection, the kids could take their xbox and play live or connect to sky player. The garden was plenty big enough for 2 collies and there were many dog friendly walks close by. The owners are extremly helpful and live on site in a seperate building in case you need anything, but they leave you to enjoy your own space so that you never felt you were being watched. The open Fire was lovely & cosy to sit in front of to play board games on those cold winter night. The owners pay attention to all the small details and have thought of everything, even towels for the dog ! They are happy to help with any needs you have prior to arriving and are quick to respond to all corrospondance. It was a wonderful holiday and we cant wait to stay there again.

BathA wonderful family holiday
Left on 12/30/2010 for a stay in December 2010
We have stayed at Haroldston on several occassions and Martin and Jeannie have always wecomed our family which includes great garandma age 79 years to my youngest grandaughter age 3 months. Our various assorted dogs are also made very welcome. We spent this Christmas at Haroldston. On arrival Martin and Jeannie met us and took us into the farmhouse, there was an assortment of goodies on the table to welcome us including a present each for the children some welsh cakes and mince pies for the grown ups and an assortment of goodies for our four legged friends!!! In the lounge was a wonderful log fire and a fabulous Christmas tree. The farmhouse is fully equipped and anything you need to make your stay more comfortable just ask and one of our hosts will try to oblige if possible. Haroldstone is situated in a countryside location, however is only a short drive to Haverford town centre. We love the fact that the back garden (which is akin to a small paddock!!!) is totally dog and child proof. the house is very spacious and has three bathrooms. There is also a games room which hosts a pool table and dart board and a TV etc. We also found the freeview plus box fantastic as we could record any programmes we didn't want to miss. All in all our stay was lovely and the added touches of Christmas stockings on the end of all our beds was a magical touch for kids and adults alike. Jeannie and Martin are great hosts who never intrude on you but are there if you need to speak to them. Keep the logs cut Martin we will be back !!!

Haroldston was a great venue for our annual family get-together. As well as being being very spacious, excellently equipped, the very welcoming hosts left us with a fantastic dossier of information on possible activities to undertake in the surrounding area. The house is excellently located for exploring different parts of Pembrokeshire with many places in all directions being with in a 30 minute drive.

Left on 08/23/2010 for a stay in August 2010
This is a lovely, welcoming house with a cosy atmosphere. The games room is a fantastic attraction for a party of mixed ages, especially on a wet day! The town's amenities are in easy reach but some of the best bits of the coastline are just a few minutes drive away too. There are lovely local walks as well. The bedrooms are comfortable and beautifully appointed. The extensive local information folders are very useful. Only (minor) gripe is that the kitchen/ utility appliances need a little updating - for example the cooker is a bit small for a large group. Fantastic house!

Mrs Austen,
Following your second visit, thank you very much for investing the time in writing a detailed and complimentary review. As a point of clarification, the cooker is of the larger 23 inch wide type, with 4 burners and a double oven. Only a range type cooker would be bigger which is an improvement that we may consider in the future. -

Owner
Mr Beeden,
Thank you for your review following your second visit to Haroldston. Whilst generally positive we have to take issue with your comment “Not posh so that one has no worries about the children doing damage”, which we believe is open to misinterpretation and suggests a lack of respect for our property. Our booking conditions require our visitors to leave the accommodation in a clean, tidy and undamaged state, which is a normal obligation for all self-catering lets, regardless of their quality rating.
Haroldston is a comfortable and good standard 4 star property. It does not have the luxury touches that you would expect in a much more expensive 5 star house, nor have we have ever aspired to this, preferring to offer our customers a clean, well equipped and value for money base for their holiday. We take pride in our house and work hard to present it in the best condition we can and would not like anyone to be under the misapprehension that they can come here and let their children run riot!
It seemed to us that your grandchildren were decent and civilised people who knew perfectly well how to behave in someone else’s property. To suggest otherwise is disrespectful to them.

The usual warm welcome for our party of 10 - our third year back to Haroldston. Plenty of space inside and out to lose the kids, and the added attraction of a pool table.
Large kitchen diner sat us all with ease and there's a couple of lounges if you need a bit of peace & quiet.
A gentle walk into Haverfordwest, and a short drive to many local attractions and sandy beaches.
Jeannie & Martin always make us feel at home and are close at hand to sort out any little difficulties...now how do you get the DVD to work !!!

I booked Haroldston as a surprise "40th" birthday weekend for my husband. We were joined by a group of friends who were also as impressed as we were. In the months leading up to our stay, any questions I had, nothing was too much trouble and Martin was a huge help.
Haroldston farmhouse itself was immaculate and very well equipped. Our dogs were welcome, we were all lovely and warm and were lucky enough to enjoy some sunshine and a bbq in the huge well kept garden. All of the bedrooms were clean and very comfortable, as were the bathrooms. The games room came in handy also. We hope to plan our next visit soon.Response from Haroldston Farmhouse - Jeannie & Martin Low - 05/24/2010

Well what can I say except what a wonderful farmhouse. Our stay involved 12 members of our family ages ranging from 5 years to 48 years! and we were there to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday.
This farmhouse is fabulouly comfortable, with tons of piping hot water, heating and also a log fire, which after a log day at Oakwood and getting soaked on the water rides, was a welcome bonus!
It was wonderful for us all to sit down for a meal together around the very large table in the kitchen and this just added to the wonderful atmosphere!
The bedrooms were large and extremely comfortable. An impeccably clean house! I think there are a few hotels who could take some lessons from Martin and Jeannie about how to clean and present a room!
All the added extras were greatly appreciated too! To have milk in the fridge and teabags to hand after a long journey was truely wonderful. also, the little touches like chocolate for the children and the folders with things to do.
All in all a fabulous place to stay and we will definitely be going back.Response from Haroldston Farmhouse - Jeannie & Martin Low - 05/13/2010

We stayed at Haroldston for a long weekend family reunion to celebrate my husband's birthday.
Our group comprised of 12 family members aged between 12 and 75, and we all found the house homely and comfortable. The 2 sitting rooms, spacious kitchen and excellent games room allowed all of us scope to enjoy the break as we wished.
Our 2 dogs also enjoyed a good run round the large garden, (although there are chickens about, so dogs needed to be supervised.)
The welcoming gifts left by the owners was a lovely touch!
The house is situated on the outskirts of Haverfordwest, in a nice rural setting ,but within easy reach of shops and other facilities. The central location is ideal for touring Pembrokeshire. We found good food and ales at pubs in nearby Johnstone village (The Vine)and at Bosherton and the Farmers arms at St Davids (where dogs are also welcomed)
The only problem was that our stay was too short!Response from Haroldston Farmhouse - Jeannie & Martin Low - 05/03/2010

I was the organiser of a group of 11 at Easter 2010 – some singles and also couples. The room setup proved very helpful in allocating rooms to this mixed group. As to all the rooms themselves they were of a very good standard especially so for the upstairs rooms. There were two comfortable lounges and one with a log fire, but the entire house was warm.
The location of Haroldston to Haverfordwest, whilst definitely in the country was also a bonus and I shall be recommending this fine holiday accommodation to friends and family as you would if you come

From the website to booking to departing the experience was first class.
Martin and Jeannie where informative and helpful but not intrusive. The
farmhouse was perfect. Room for everybody to mix and be alone as needed.
We had my Mum's 80th party there, in the kitchen and it was great. There was
room for the dog to explore safely outside. We loved the games room and had
darts and pool competitions. The wifi was a real bonus as my brother and his
wife had to conduct their business by email (they are from Canada).
Shops were close by and we enjoyed day visits to Haverfordwest, Solva and St
Davids.
It was fantastic and as a family we can highly recommend the farmhouse and

Left on 01/23/2010 for a stay in June 2009
Upon arrival we were met by jeannie and Martin, two of the most friendliest people i have ever come accross. The house was clean, tidy upon our arrival and gifts had been left for the children, and beer and wine for the adults, (which is always welcome after a long drive).
The home was warm, clean and met all of our needs, a living room for tv watching with the family, a lounge for dads, who may want peace and quiet to read the morning paper, and a lovely games room for the big and small kids. The kitchen proved to be the hub of the house, where most time was spent!!
The house is located up a long private driveway, in a quiet and peacefull location with a small local shop nearby for any daily supplies. The house is also close enough to the main town and amenities such as asda, pubs, clubs, swimming pool, and no more than 10 minutes drive from the lovely beaches. There are also lots of local attractions within 20 minutes drive such as folly farm, dinosaur adventure park, tenby, saundersfoot.
We as a family liked everything about the holiday, so cant really say what we liked the least as it was all good.
Hope you all enjoy your holidays as much as we do.
Very highly recommended. -
