Description

Karetu Downs Farm Stay is situated approximately 63 km north of Christchurch and is a one hour drive from Christchurch airport. The property is Kiwi owned and farmed and has been in the Forrester family for over 100 years.The farm is 2000 hectares of some flat to rolling downs but mostly hill country land on which we graze sheep & beef cattle. The prominent feature is the hill country which rises to just on 3 thousand feet above sea level. A climb to the top of the farm through tussock tracks provides outstanding views over the countryside looking back to the Southern Alps, the east coast and on a clear day to the South the view of Christchurch and surrounding areas is breath taking. The farm offers over 20 kilometres of back country tracks for you to enjoy at your leisure. 4WD tours available. We offer two types of accommodation: Stay in the luxury of the 100 year old Homestead which has an expansive attractive garden setting or the Karetu Downs Farm Cottage which is a private self contained house which sleeps up to 8 people.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your booking page. To change your dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Karen (the owner) a message.

If Karen (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
