The prefect place to stay in the lovely Hay-on-Wye
I really can't rate the Georgian Coach House highly enough. It is lovingly decorated, thoughtfully laid out, and just thoroughly delightful. It is very comprehensively equipped, and we found it to be very cosy and comfortable. It is also ideally situated to visit any of the many excellent eateries in Hay (we "did" the Old Black Lion, an old favourite, the Three Tuns, which we have always found to be excellent too, the Bookshop Café, a wonderful idea executed to perfection, and the fabulous Felin Fach Griffin). Hay is just such a civilised place! The combination of bookshops and walking is ideal. It is a vibrant town of a very manageable size packed with cultural activities and surrounded by some of the most stunning countryside in the UK. Many thanks to Michael and Séza, and all the best in all your endeavours.
Snow, Wine and Daffodils
Snow. Hay is in Wales. I was not aware of this when we booked. Notwithstanding, it is surprisingly westernised in places and has potential.
Michael and Séza are consummate hosts. Invisible until needed, and then magically appearing with a yellow bucket of logs and kindling, at precisely the right time.
A lovely, divine place. Eccentrically brilliant, we had a ball. The daffodils were wonderful. Just move the river over slightly so we are in England and all would be quite perfect. Thank you, we loved it.
Ps. The Stagg Inn: by far the best meal we had.
High end luxury at surprisingly affordable prices.
The Coach House provided a wonderful retreat from the working world. The attention to detail within the cottage made for a very luxurious stay. A lovely cottage within a lovely location.

The perfect hideaway
We had a wonderful honeymoon in this beautiful cottage. The facilities are fantastic and the location very convenient.
Michael & Séza made us feel very welcome - Séza is right about the biscuits! We will certainly be recommending this cottage to everyone. It is the perfect hideaway in Hay!

Beautiful cottage in a perfect location!
Absolutely beautiful cottage in a perfect location. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here and are already trying to work out when we can come back again!
Fantastic activities all on your doorstep, such as walking in the Black Mountains & horse riding. We can't wait to come back again! Thank you for a fantastic stay!
Charlotte & Adam
Peaceful retreat in excellent, tucked-away, central location.
We've enjoyed a wonderful few days in the Coach House, doing very little. Michael's expert suggestions led us to the best places in town and we've feasted on produce from the Deli, the adjoining patisserie, Tom's steaks and the fantastic food at Booth's (we're squeezing in a final visit for breakfast before we leave). The Coach House has proved a well-stocked and peaceful retreat in which to recharge our batteries and we'd highly recommend it as such. Many, many thanks Michael & Séza!
Wish we could have stayed here longer
We came to stay in Hay on Wye for a few days after our wedding. We had a fabulous relaxing time, mad all the better thanks to the wonderful accommodation. The Coach House is an excellent place to stay. It is in a great central location and is extremely comfortable. The highlights are the beautiful log fire and he exceptionally comfortable pillows. Michael & Seza provide everything that you could need and provide very helpful tips on where to eat. Thanks. John Kirk & Rebecca Freeman

Particularly enjoyable, everything you could wish for.
Particularly enjoyable stay. Made to feel very welcome on arrival. Cottage facilities were excellent. Everything you could wish for and more. Wide selection of reading matter - very appropriate for Hay-on-Wye!
Hideaways in Hay
What a perfect spot - right in the centre of town, but peaceful and pretty. We have had a lovely stay, surrounded by antiques and books. Thank you for all the extra treats too. Xanthe Clay & Family

Delightful in every way !
Great week, only rained once and did we get wet on the ridges. Fantastic walking especially as we usually go to the Lake District. Good local shops, please support them. Deli lovely good veg, cheese, bread, etc. Market great on Thursday, get there around 10am: fab cakes & jars in the Buttermarket. Tapas bar fun and good, reasonable prices. Three Tuns lovely landlady and pub.; didn't eat, though. Blue Boar pub- Timothy Taylor's beer - do I need more. Beacons Railway disappointing.
Thank you Michael & Séza, we have had a ball; cottage perfect; so are the hosts! We will be back.
Jayne & Alan Clark, Oxon
We stayed here whilst attending a friend's wedding, and had such a great experience in this wonderful hideaway - the cottage is brilliantly located right in the heart of Hay, and was very well-stocked with everything we needed (and a little more!)
Such a great spot that we're trying to plan a trip to the Literary Festival next year, and won't be happy unless we can stay here again!
Luxury, tranquility and seclusion right in the centre of Hay.
What a find. This place sets the standard for luxury self-catering. It's located right in the centre of Hay, but in a secluded, utterly tranquil spot. The cottage itself was just delightful and the welcome very warm and genuine (from the owners Michael & Séza).
It is very well-equipped and clean and imaginatively designed. And it is oh so beautifully warm underfoot! Which, if you were out walking for hours like we were, makes it the perfect place to return to and relax. Mind you, like me, you may not want to leave the cottage... the luxurious bathroom, the cosy window seat overlooking the courtyard, the nooks and crannies and decorative details to explore. Enough said. just go and see for yourselves!
Thank you for a wonderful stay in your Hideaway.

Wish we could have stayed longer…
Many thanks to Séza & Michael for providing this fine cottage, a welcoming atmosphere and a place close to the attractions of Hay-on-Wye. The 2013 heatwave did not make it easy to go out of doors, but we did enjoy a good, relaxing stay here. Thanks to the layout with the bedroom on the ground floor, the nights were nice and cool.
We also would like to thank the lovely people of Hay, who showed us more hospitality than we had expected even in Hay. We will definitely be back!
Ultimate 3 'R's'; Relaxing Romantic Retreat. Just fantastic in
We have just spent one of the most delightful and restful weeks that either of us can remember in a very long time. From the moment the wooden gates swung in to reveal the cobbled delights of this hidden gem, we were smitten.
The warm, very personal and very informative welcome by Michael, combined with the lovely gift of homemade crab apple jelly (excellent on toasted Welsh cakes!) and the personal welcome card from Séza and Michael had us positively purring. There was more, but it wouldn't be fair to spoil the surprises for those who follow. Everything, every detail was perfect and it was only very reluctantly that we left the cottage each day to explore all that Hay and its superb surroundings had to offer.
This is as good as self-catering gets. Many, many thanks to Séza and Michael.

What a fantastic place to spend a week, a real home-from-home, with a touch of the unusual right in the middle of Hay, but a haven of peace. Thank you so much for letting us stay, we will be back. Many thanks to Michael and Seza for the jelly and biscuits. We loved every minute of our stay. Thank you both so much.

The perfect place to stay in Hay on Wye
Have stayed in many cottages in Hay on Wye over the years - more than most I suspect, but The Coach House beats all the others! Log fire, parking and a bath (and obviously spectacular bathroom), are the criteria I try to achieve when looking for that special place to stay, and this cottage has it all, plus so much more.
Weather not the best, but everything else that Hay has to offer compensates so easily.
Will be back again and again I suspect, and doubt whether I'll re-visit any of my previous haunts.

Beautiful Hideaway in a Beautiful Town
The cottage is charming, beautiful and very well-quipped. Quite possibly the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. Perfect! And... within very easy walking distance there is live music, wonderful food and drink, a small cinema and galleries. A few books too!! Michael & Séza were very thoughtful and accommodating. Highly recommended.
Ps. Snow in april was wonderful!
Perfect location Hay, close to all the bookshops and amenities one needs. Such a beautiful cottage very well furnished with so much attention to detail. Very comfortable and cosy. We were extremely impressed by Michael and Seza Eccles, very organised and thoughtful. They gave us lots of information from restaurants locally and things to do in and around Hay. We were very well looked after over our relaxing stay and wouldn't say anything bad about it.
Luxurious and Romantic Retreat
This place really is a delightful 'home from home'. So relaxing and comfortable we almost didn't want to go out! The lure of the bookshops was too strong though... Lovely central location in Hay - perfect for strolling round town. Would thoroughly recommend for an escape it all break or romantic weekend. What really makes the difference are all the thoughtful "extras" - fresh flowers, biscuits, and even homemade preserves. We hope to be back soon!
More than just a hideaway - and more than just a town of books!
Once again a perfect stay, and a perfect place to recharge; the old coach house is a joy to stay in and consistently excellent - even when it is stormy outside! (or maybe especially!) Thanks again. Tony & Melanie Hall, Durham
Andy and Mandy Reed
The coach house is comfortable and enchanting - the small details make such a difference - from the welcoming gifts of home-made chutney and biscuits to the beautiful bed linen and luscious potions in the bathroom. We spent a lovely weekend here - and managed to pop into Hay too! Mandy & Andrew Reed
Relaxing, reading, walking and sleeping in sheer luxury-what mor
Your Coach House cottage has quintessential quality, showing classic but homely decorations, touched by a ? Portuguese origin mingling in an olde-worlde way.
At the same time, there is the grandeur of modern-day living with everything you could possibly think of for your daily comforts. Special touches in the bathroom, containing pots and potions, lotions and fragrances for you to use at your leisure.
Outside, in the courtyard, you will see and hear agreeable birds feverishly foraging and feeding, whilst giving off their constant and charming chirping. All in all, a pleasurable week has been spent amidst friendly folk, Our heartfelt thank you to Michael and Seza. Anne Roberts & Barry (Baz) Holmes

We have had a most relaxing weekend in The Coach House. Celebrating our 40th Wedding anniversary here was easy, romance abounds, in books, poetry and in the little touches The Coach House has, even fairy lights over the bed. We recommend The Old Black Lion, our evening meal was excellent. Many thanks, Alyson and Tony
"i loved that little place" - my happy girlfriend :-)
Thanks for providing such a lovely hideaway - it lives up to the name gloriously! We could easily have not left our den but eventually, thanks to your maps and sight-list we did. A jolly nice walk up the hill, and a meander and mooch around Hay later, we retired back to the Coach House for some solid relaxing. Thanks again.

Definitely recommend this Hideaway
The Coach House was everything we had hoped for. A great base to explore the hills and valleys of my ancestors! Local shops and restaurants were excellent. What more could you ask for?

We have really enjoyed our time in your lovely cottage - the bathroom is amazing! The kitchen has everything in it that you could need but with so many restaurants close by there wasn't much cooking done! The location was the best feature for us being able to walk out of our front door and straight into the many bookshops was fantastic. We'll be back!
From the very first time driving through the gates into most peaceful and secure locations it was all uphill!
Nothing was to much for Michael and the most delightful Seza . The fixtures, fittings and wonderful welcoming touches which included complimentary wine ,jams milk in the fridge. Then we move onto the bathroom whereby Seza's,
provision of scents, soaps and powders even had me luxurating in the bath for hours. I think it touched my feminine side and was a treat!
Great location in Hay as within walking distance to all the main attractions. It should be noted that we seasoned travellers often stay in self contained apartments throughout the world.
Hideway in Hay has been the best and one day we look forward to a return visit.

Snuggy and romantic
'We had a very comfortable stay, location was great and the Coach House warm and inviting. The amenities are modern and Wi-Fi is fantastic. Thanks for a great stay.'

Thank you for a wonderful relaxing visit. This is the best cottage I have stayed in for many years. A real nest! We will return like swallows! Jon Sait and Roz Gasper
A care free and extremely comfortable rest for the weary
We greatly appreciated our wonderfully restful weekend in this idyllic retreat.
Booking was straightforward. All the essentials (and many lovely extras) were provided - such a boon for us as we had travelled by public transport and so were limited in what we could bring.
We were in need of stress-free days in quiet surroundings and the Coach House hit the spot.
My only concern was the number of books my son "just had to have" from the various stores so close by! But we managed to get home without any problems.
For prospective visitors to Hay in general I would point out that taxis aren't that plentiful and it is advisable to organise trips in advance if you can. Fortunately we were extremely lucky so our perfect weekend break wasn't spoiled in any way.
Ps My son loved the cookies!

Beautiful Hideaway in a Beautiful Place
We have thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Hay on Wye and feel blessed to have booked our stay here in the Coach House. This must surely be one of the best places to stay in Hay. We have appreciated all the little welcome gifts of flowers, chocolate, milk and crab apple jelly, along with the welcome card. The house was very clean, which is the first thing that helps you to feel relaxed and ready for your holiday.
We wish Michael and Seza success with their business, and hope we will have the opportunity to return again in the future. With thanks, Rob and Linda Manley / W. Sussex
We had an amazing few days here made all the better from the welcome we received. The little extras made all the difference. We will definitely be coming back for longer next time. Hopefully the weather will be as nice then as it was the last few days. Thank you very much!

A beautiful cottage in a secluded courtyard in the centre of Hay
You can't fail to be charmed by this peaceful and luxurious Coach House. We had a lovely break in a perfect location' couldn't have asked for any more - thank you!
Would recommend Old Black Lion for food and drink. The Blue Boar is also well worth a visit.
The walk from Hay Bluff to Lord Hereford's Knob is outstanding.
A delightful and charming hideaway right in the centre of everything. Michael and Seza are fabulous hosts whose attention to detail ensures you have everything you need. If you are coming to Hay in or out of Festival time this is the place to stay. Perfect. And as for Hay on Wye! It's a treasure in itself and a wonderful base for exploring the best parts of South Wales which is beautiful whatever the weather.

A beautiful, charming place in the fantastic town of Hay
Dear Seza, Dear Michael
We had a really nice time in Hay. Your Coach House is such a beautiful place - so many lovely details, corners of beauty and charm. The kitchen was the scene of much fun cooking, the window sill for relaxation and bird-watching. You have created a very special atmosphere in your house, and that made our stay here particularly nice.
Needless to say, we enjoyed Hay very much - amazing bookshops, charming little streets, wonderful countryside - what more could you want? Thanks for the very lovely welcome, especially the card and goodies.
By the way, we had our excellent first evening dinner at The Black Lion - they have some fine vegetarian dishes at the moment. Our lunch at Booths Bookshop cafe was just as good. We would highly recommend both places to anyone wishing to stay.
Thanks again and all the best, Anna-Maria and Gunther / Germany; Christina and Daniel / London
PS. The crab apple jam is amazing!
The privacy of self catering with 5 star luxury.
We had a lovely warm welcome from Michael when we arrived and when I first saw the beautiful Coach House I said I wanted to live there - and I still do. It is a gorgeous place to stay, beautifully and tastefully decorated but still homely and comfortable. Had fun exploring the bathroom with all its little treats and surprises. Weather was freezing whilst we were here but that just meant we could light the fire for a cosy evening in. the Coach House offers the privacy of self catering with all the luxury of a boutique hotel, perfectly situated to enjoy Hay with all its books, shops and cafes. We will definitely be staying here again.

A great stay in Hay
We have throughly enjoyed our weekend at the Coach House. It is a delightful place to stay, very well situated in Hay, yet quiet and peaceful, and excellently furnished and well-equipped. We appreciated the thoughtful and generous attention to detail shown in the comforts provided.

What a shame I have to go home, I'd happily stay as felt so comfortable and relaxed. Will be returning and recommending this little treasure to my friends and family. I felt like a guest in a beautiful home, the Coach House and gardens were simply delightful. A perfect hideaway from the stresses of Swansea. Many thanks, Gilli Lawton, Swansea
The setting of this little haven in Hay on Wye is nothing less than idyllic. The house is tastefully decorated, it's homey and exquisitely comfortable. I liken staying here to staying in the South of France, my mind is that far from the mundane. The weather helps also. Our hosts are gracious and thorough. The house radiates prettiness, but not in a sickly way. My stay was beautifully relaxing. Sam Lawton, Swansea
Our 5-Star rating says it all!
A lovely stay in a beautiful hideaway. The Coach House is so full of charm and interest,so much so that you feel as if you are staying in a friend's home.We thoroughly enjoyed all the many extras, particularly the books, kindly provided by Michael and Seza.

A perfect hideaway in Hay
What a peaceful 3 days! Toddler free and numerous lie-ins, in a perfectly arranged house. Underfloor heating was a godsend in truly freezing weather, and we loved having everything on our doorstep. We visited every pub, went for a stunning walk, ate venison burgers in a local food fair, drank too much ale/cider and didn't step foot in one bookshop... are we awful people??!!
Love it, will come back in a heartbeat!
Wonderful luxury and fabulous Hideaway in Hay - highly recommend
The Coach House is wonderful and great to come home to after enjoying the Winter Festival and Hay. We had a delicious Sunday brunch at Booths and didn't have to wait long at all. The 90 minute town walk with Rob Soldat was informative and starts from the information centre (£5 per person). Thank you Michael and Seza for your kind hospitality - we loved the welcome bottle of wine and crab apple jelly. *** Sue and Keith, Sambourne, Nr Redditch, Worcestershire

Perfect spot for a few days' escape
We are dragging our feet leaving this peaceful and very comfortable spot from where we've walked up mountains, through forests and down rivers - mostly in sunshine - and returned to cook delicious food bought in the town.
Beautiful Hideaway in a beautiful town!
Had a wonderful week in the beautiful Coach House, which has more than lived up to its' 5 star rating. Extremely cosy and comfortable, everything you could wish for provided, with so many nice touches. A lovely hideaway, quiet but so close to the centre of Hay, which we loved. Had a great meal at the Black Lion one night and an excellent Sunday lunch at the Three Tuns. We also did three great walks with super views in the area, so we went home fit and relaxed! Many thanks, hope to come back again one day.
A Lovely Oasis in the Heart of Hay
Michael provided a warm welcome and thoughtful hospitality with all details considered. The Coach House is a lovely oasis; the perfect place to take stock of our book town finds and to plan our next foray into the beautiful landscape around Hay.
A really charming little coach house!
We have stayed in a number of holiday cottages, some of which have been particularly nice, but yours tops the lot as far as personal touches are concerned, you have thought of everything to make us feel welcome! I just loved the lotions and potions in the bathroom ! Thank you both.
A wonderful home-away-from-home
This was a very special place to stay and use as a base for our visit here as we took part in the first Hay Walking Festival. This is a wonderful community of walkers that we got to be part of. Coming back here each day to a hot bath and our own home-cooked meals helped me get through the 6-7 hour treks. Thanks for being here.
Romantic, relaxing getaway
Perfect!! No need to say more. Thank you.
Our high expectations were exceded
Our stay here was all too short! This is an exquisite gem, created with style, imagination and flair. so many wonderful welcoming touches. We've really appreciated our special weekend here - now we're off home to redecorate and build a window seat, thanks to this place! (And many thanks Seza and Michael).

A Little Piece of Heaven
The Coach House is just charming - the most perfect place to stay in Hay. My favourite spot - the lovely window seat in the lounge - I will miss it when we leave tomorrow. We've had a great week - read books, eaten very well (The Black Lion was our favourite) and even managed a couple of local walks. The scenery all around is stunning. We saw the Wye Valley from the top of the rock at Symonds Yat - beautiful! So many places still to visit - we will be back! Many thanks Michael & Seza. Barbara & David Picknell

A Truly Magical Romantic Hideaway
Upon arrival we were greeted by Michael, who opened the electric gates to the snow covered gardens and showed us to our parking place.
It was truly like entering our own winter wonderland.
We were escorted to the fabulous coach house where all the facilities were explained to us along with some history about the place which was fascinating.
We were given complimentary champagne as it was our wedding anniversary along with some homemade chutney - nice touches and a welcome antidote to some of the faceless corporate locations out there.
The restoration and conversion of the coach house has been carried out with meticulous detail which we have come to learn is typical of the owners.
We had the most wonderful weekend and we will certainly be back again in 2011!

A lovely stay in your beautifully appointed cottage- so many personal touches. The town itself is a joy and we met so many friendly people in the shops, the market, the street- all willing to give the time of day. Each day we could return to the warmth and cosiness of the Coach House and yet again appreciate it's uniqueness. Many thanks.
So relaxing and peaceful but so much at your doorstep
What a find! The Coach House is a little gem hidden right in the middle of Hay. Highly recommend it to anyone wishing to get away from it all and yet have all the conveniences of the modern world in the cottage and beyond its gates. Ps The crab apple jelly is delicious. Thank you for everything..

Happy Hideaway holiday
Gather ye rosebuds while ye may, Old Time is still a-flying; But at Hideaway's Coach House, Hay, Time's chariot rests, low-lying.' With apologies to Robert Herrick (1591-1674) And thank you, Michael and Seza, for an idyllic four days of tranquillity and pleasure from act 1, scene 1, where the music played as we climbed the stairs, through the discovery period of wine and jelly, then the 'play-within-the-play' when the plumber came, to the final scene today as we leave, happy.
We had a lovely time here and Michael and Seza did everything they could to help make our stay as easy and pleasant as possible - they were flexible over check in time, provided baby furniture, left delicious things to eat and drink etc etc. The house is beautiful inside, and right in the centre of Hay. When we left behind a rather precious baby blanket (knitted by Granny)they posted it back to us straight away, and even included some babywipes we didn't even realize we'd forgotten. We very much hope to be back.
Luxury cottage in quality location
Lovely cottage! Lovely welcome. Had lunch at the Black Lion. We recommend Red Indigo for a nice Indian meal and good service. Sorry we didn't get to meet you both - hope you had a good holiday.

The Coach House Hay stylish comfotable and conveniently situated
A quote from a letter written to our daughter from The Coach House: "You will love it darling. Downstairs warm dreamy bedroom, old groom's quarters. Bathroom off, with sunken corner bath and two sinks. Very cute and interesting with lots of nooks and crannies. Upstairs long room with window seat overlooking cobbled courtyard and private walled car parking. Kitchen one end divided by an oak table, open beamed ceiling with lots of light; sofabed to stretch out on and essential log burner. It's gorgeous, our style at last! Great shops like Cowbridge and lots of atmospheric pubs. With all that literally on our doorstep we will be returning. Lastly, as Sawday followers, we are pleased to say once again 'they've done us proud'. Love Mum"

beautiful cottage in a wonderful location
Absolutely wonderful place to stay with thoughtful, surprising touches to welcome us in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, which made our stay very special. Thank you for the wine, the chocolate biscuits and useful provisions in the kitchen. We enjoyed the Dvds and CDs too. The cottage is beautifully renovated and beautifully decorated - a total joy. We would certainly like to come back.
Great stay, absolutely everything catered for and a perfectly peaceful hideaway, yet right in the centre of town. Remarkable.
Would come back for sure...
The Georgian Houses were the perfect tranquil setting for a genuine hideaway. Michael was charming and helpful. The feel of the place embodies comfort. It just added a whole extra buzz to our entire experience.
A great relaxing place with full catering facilities.
We have just had the most delightful week in the Coach House.
It is so thoughtfully laid out and comfortable.
When the Courtyard gate closes, you are truly in your own haven of relaxation!
The Kitchen is wonderfully equipped, down to the vintage linen tea towels.
Just 5 min walk to the hay town centre to great cafes and book shops allowed us to pop back and fore whenever we pleased.
Peace at Last !
We've had such a lovely weekend.
The Coach House was exactly what we were hoping for -
so peaceful and relaxing, and as other guests have pointed out,
the attention to detail is wonderful.
We felt do welcome and at home from the moment we arrived.
Thank you for re-charging our very flat batteries!!

The Coach House is truly wonderful. The attention to detail, the high quality interior finish and the friendly welcome all combined to make this a reall good break. There were no disappointmetns as there can sometimes be with self catering accommodation that promises the earth and fails to deliver. This delivers.
A cosy retreat
Cosy, comfortable and so convenient, furnished and appointed with unmistakeable style throughout, this was a special place to stay.
We have had a very relaxing few days here, and we would love to come back.
Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

A great blend of old and new in the centre of Hay-on-Wye.
It was a wild, wet and windy November week but our experience of The Coach House, right in the centre of Hay, was welcoming, cosy, comfortable and calm. A great blend of old and new providing more than the comforts of home.

The most excellent 'Hideaway In Hay' - an utter delight to stay in.
Comfortable bed, fabulous bathroom, very good kitchen - cannot fault it.
Hay was wonderful (again) keeps on improving, the Café at Booth's Bookshop is not to be missed (thanks).
Our mistake was that we only came for the weekend!
Definitely 5 Stars ***.

From the moment the gates closed we entered an oasis of calm and tranquility.
This must be the ultimate romantic getaway.
Everything about the coach house is just perfect.

For anyone staying here, make sure you don't miss the market on Thursday - get there early for the delicious bread and pastries!
Had the most wonderful mini-break here in Hay which was made
all the more special by the peaceful surroundings of this lovely cottage.
Michael & Seza have created a real 'home from home' in this beautiful part of the world.

As cottage 'veterans' this is an instant entry in our top five; and we plan to return.
A Delightful Hideaway
A perfect location to explore the area. The cottage was perfectly placed to discover Hay-on-wye, located as it is in a very central location. Yet this wonderful cottage is hidden away in an incredible private setting.
Everything we could possibly need was catered for in this beautiful cottage. The accommodation itself is top class, and wonderfully furnished. It is cosy and clean with a homely feeling to it. Service was excellent.

A true hidden Gem in the lovely little town of Hay-on-Way! Owners Michael and Séza Eccles were the most welcoming hosts anyone can wish for, the peace and tranquility that permeate this place are made complete by it's warm feel, privacy and the lovely choice of furniture, attention to deal was key. Will definitely go back ☺

A perfect place to stay, unwind and experience Hay at its best
Thank you for a wonderful and atmospheric location for our first wedding anniversary.
Your immaculate cottage was charming and well prepared for a relaxing stay full of character and modern convenience.

Lovely week in Hay
Thank you for a lovely week.
The Coach House is beautiful and in a fantastic location - very central but hidden away.

Wonderful discovery in beautiful Hay on Wye
We spent a wonderful, relaxing weekend at the Coach House. It is absolutely gorgeous inside and Michael and Seza were fabulous hosts. It was a perfect experience and we will definitely be back.
A book lover's heaven!!!
Pete and I had one of the most relaxing and enjoyable stays ever in our comfortable and very lovely Hideaway.
The service was extremely friendly.
The house is romantic, meticulously and tastefully restored, with just a touch of mediterranean/exotic influence here and there. One of my personal favourite pasttimes was reading one of my new book purchases whilst lying on the casement window ledge, made comfortable by Séza with attractive Moroccan cushions. Sheer delight. Along with the book buying and walking, Pete particularly enjoyed using the well-equipped kitchen, to cook the wonderful meat and other fresh products to be found in the area.
The house and apartments are close to the centre of Hay-on-Wye, in itself a must-go experience for all those who love books. If recreational activities are more your thing, the Brecon Beacons and Wye Valley offer well-marked paths for trekking and cycling, with stunning views opening up over the area.
Many thanks to Séza and Michael

A wonderful place to stay, thank you Michael and Séza.
We will definitely be back for more exploring of your local fantastic bookshops! This is the perfect place to relax, recharge and enjoy time with a loved one in luxurious surroundings. The parkray wood burner is superb and the unlimited supply of logs ensured that we could not have been more snug and comfortable.
We have discovered a beautiful part of the country, your delightful coach house and Clare Teal (the singer on the CD in
A real home from home
I stayed at the Coach House and the Main House while working at the Hay Festival . It was a complete oasis of calm and a real treat to come back to at the end of a hectic day . All the added extras such as a stocked fridge and wine make this a real home from home . The Main house has a beautiful garden perfect to relax on a summers evening I can't recommend it enough.
Non-book weekend in Hay
Absolutely delightful place to stay - peaceful and relaxing.
Beautiful Hideaway in a beautiful town
This "hideaway"is a calm, relaxing, wonderful oasis in the lovely little bookshop town that is Hay. The welcome is warm with every detail in the property showing loving care and attention. Here you can arrive, make yourself tea or coffee from the many bits and bobs available in the kitchen, or have a relaxing bath in the beautiful bathroom using the many and varied toiletries also here for you, before setting out to trawl the great bookshops or walk the beautiful hills. I have rented many cottages and manor houses, but I have never come to anywhere so well equipped and I am sure if you needed anything that wasn't here Seza and Michael would be more than happy to help.
The furnishings are lovely and in keeping with the historic buildings. The wi-fi works very well, which in Hay is a real plus. This is a place that is difficult to leave and a must to return to.
Perfect Hideway in Hay
What a find. We had a lovely week in Hay on Wye staying in Michael and Seza's gorgeous cottage. It was a delight to come home to at the end of the day. We will definitely return to the area, and stay here again.
Simply the best!
Hello, my name is Laura, from Brighton.
I came down here for a long weekend with my family - we stayed at Hideaways in Hay's Coach House - it is absolutely beautiful, and fantastically restored.
We spent most of our time around the town browsing the many shops.
We would highly recommend Hideaway in Hay to anyone else, and we shall be returning here in the future.
We loved being here.
Thank you for the welcoming bottle of wine, much needed after a long drive!
We look forward to visiting again.
Relaxing and gorgeous
I had always wanted to visit Hay, being a confirmed bookaholic, and the trip was worth it. Its a pretty town and the coach house was the perfect choice. Tucked away behind huge wooden gates is a cute courtyard - with plenty of hidden parking - around which are the properties. The Coach House is pretty much ideal, combining plenty of space for two, cosy underfloor heating and real luxury touches - lots of bath products and towels provided in a big bathroom whilst next door was a charming bedroom all white linen and flowers.
Upstairs (odd but it works) is an open plan lounge and kitchen with all the touches - well stocked kitchen from both the equipment and food basics points of view and a comfy lounge all in a high, beamed room with window seat and a log burning stove. Unexpected extras included a toiletries gift set, biscuits, fresh flowers and even a chocolater bar for bedtime!
Michael and Seza were very welcoming but never intrusive - a great combination. I explored a bit, slept a lot and went home refreshed - what more could you want?

Peaceful and unique
We have stayed many times in Hay on Wye,hotel, bed and breakfasts. But this time we chose Hideaways Georgian Coach House. It was perfect. A lot of thought had gone into the design and comfort. Great location, pretty garden with parking, and easy to go out and eat in the evening.
Would have liked a microwave. Amenities in the cottage were generally good, but I would expect food in the refrigerator to be fresh, new and unopened. (not the previous occupants leftovers) And that goes for all bathroom amenities as well.
We enjoyed our five day break, and would be happy to book again. Read more
Response from Michael and Seza Eccles from Hideaways In Hay - 08/03/2010
Hmmm! This sounds awful Margaret... Perhaps I can explain......
For over ten years, Séza published & edited "The Aromatherapy Quarterly Magazine" - on the subject of the medicinal use of essential oils - and she has an extensive collection of amazing perfumes and bath salts which she shares with our guests - and is now back to sourcing more. So the ‘used’ bathroom amenities may have included a specially collected rareity for you to enjoy! And we are having our own ‘home-made’ soaps made here in Hay to add to these.
We decided that our guests would relish the ‘special’ extras - and of course these things are not ‘singly’ packaged. So the balance is between something unique & special and something run of the mill, synthetically produced, low grade and over-packaged. From our point of view there is no contest.... a rare french perfume ..... unique Egyptian bath-salts ..... a hand-made slither of deliciously smelling soap.... I know which I would prefer.
The food in the refrigerator was certainly not ‘previous occupant’s leftovers’ (ugh!). We are, if anything, ‘real foodies’ here at Hideaways In Hay, and we will have given you an extensive selection of basics and goodies - including jars of jams made from our own crab apple trees - or other jams or marmalade hand-made by locals here in Hay. And yes, these jars will stay in the fridge for the enjoyment of all our guests! However, they are inspected for every guest.
We may also have given you a pat of delicious ‘home-made’ butter. Now that comes in slabs, and we cut off fresh generous slices for each of our guests (or rather we did, but we’ve lost our nerve). I’m afraid the butter comes as it comes - in a slab and unwrapped. So a pat of butter on a clean butter dish in the fridge is not the same as ‘leftovers’!
The ‘microwave’ is another issue. Giles Coren (The Times Restaurant critic), who is known for being very picky - and he won’t mind my saying so - absolutely loved our kitchens. If we had had ‘microwaves’, he would never have given us a review. He cooked in the very same kitchen you stayed in, Margaret.... So I suppose there are horses for courses.... And in the Jacobean Town House, there is usually only one official ‘dish-washer’, and that’s me! And the reasons are two-fold: we have collected our crockery from the pre-dishwasher era, and we enjoy the family activity of washing-up together. So we don’t have dish-washing machines and we don’t have microwaves, and we are hoping that these oversights will add to your relaxation, and the feeling that you are in a different world when you stay with us....
We go to the ‘n’th degree to create an environment to make you holiday with us really special....... and judging from the reviews we have been given so far, we mostly hit the mark.... thank heavens!
With best wishes,
Gorgeous place to stay-lovely weekend break
Michael and Seza have a fantastic place and put so much time and effort into making it a home from home. The little touches really make the difference. We spent a lovely weekend in the cottage for my boyfriend's birthday and couldn't have wanted for more. A lovely warm welcome greeted us after our long journey and the cottage supplied us with the utmost luxury...what more could you wish for. We'll definitely be returning again at some point!

Calm, quiet and relaxing
This is undoubtedly one of the most comfortable, relaxing settings we've ever stayed in, and we were very sad to say "goodbye." Our stay was so fantastic, we nearly canceled the next leg of our trip to stay the rest of the week in Hay-on-wye.
Owners Michael and Séza Eccles have invested years into renovating these properties and fulfilling a dream, and it really shows. From the thoughtful interior decoration, to the tastefully-appointed bath, the incredibly comfortable bed, and the remarkably well-stocked kitchen, our stay at Hideaways was an experience worth crossing the atlantic for, and one that we are eager to repeat someday.
a beautiful place
The Coach House is unlike anywhere we’ve stayed before.
Michael & Séza have focussed on creating an utterly peaceful and luxurious space for their guests.
It is the many personal touches that set this place apart from other holiday cottages – the delicious local butter in the fridge, the vintage crockery, fresh flowers, crisp cotton sheets and cosy bathrobes; they’ve even thought of the practical things like O/S maps to plan walks, novels to read and a list of good restaurants!
The décor perfectly compliments the history of the building – the antique furniture, super-comfortable bed and the sumptuous bathroom allude more to a five-star hotel than a holiday cottage… but with the extra bonus of total privacy!
The underfloor heating and the wood-burning stove were an absolute joy to return to after a windswept walk!
The Coach House is a truly special place – we’ll return again and again!
Blissful, peaceful, restful and romantic
This really is the perfect romantic getaway; there are so many excellent things to say about our stay here, but will summarize by saying it is the personal touches, the surprise ‘finds’ in the cupboards like proper teacups, the kindness of our hosts, the peace, comfort, closeness to the wonderful bookshops and the excellence of the local produce – we love it here, thank you Michael & Séza X
It doesn't get any better!!
We stayed in the coach house for 8 days over New Year. We had only booked 7, but the place was to be empty for an additional day and the owners graciously offered us an extended holiday for free! My hopes were high for the cottage as their website showed clear images, but I had no idea how good it would truly be. Absolutely everything was catered for, and we really did feel like being at home. The attention to detail was very impressive - a bottle of wine in the fridge, biscuits, obscure herbal teas that we struggle to find in a cafe etc. But, the thing that really sold me was the underfloor heating! It was full-blown winter, and were were staying in a stone-clad cottage! But you opened the door to a wall of heat. Wireless broadband, candles, great bathroom... it goes on! Fantastic! Location was central, and the cottage was in its own private courtyard, beautifully lit. Michael & Séza (owners) returned from their own holiday whilst we were still there, and invited us over for a drink and nibbles, which was very kind. Wonderful people and a delightful and memorable break!!
