Additional Location Information
Location:
Our house is located in the Ziegelhausen district of Heidelberg, on a very quiet road with little traffic. Thanks to the southwesterly exposure on a slope, you can enjoy the sunshine from morning to evening. The quiet location on a forest’s edge also makes it possible to explore the hiking paths or go jogging, starting right at the house.
Our town district also offers an indoor swimming pool with attached lawn for sunbathing.
It only takes some 10 minutes by foot to get to the bakery or the bus stop.
Environs:
Enjoy and discover the romantic old town area of Heidelberg, featuring the well-known Heidelberg Castle and its gardens. The former Palatinate residence is also renowned for the eldest university in Germany, the Ruprechts-Karls-University, and it offers a multitude of museums, the theater, the zoo, the botanical garden or nightlife, just waiting for your discovery.
The immediate environs also offer a host of attractions: the Castle of Schwetzingen and the internationally renowned castle garden there, Speyer and its cathedral, which has been a UNESCO cultural heritage since 1981, the car and technology museum Sinsheim or the many medieval castles, e.g. castle fortress Dilsberg and castle Hirschhorn, upstream along the Neckar river.
Also go and discover the idyllic Neckar valley, the Odenwald forest, the Kraichgau, the Palatinate with its magnificent castles and framework towns.
Beautiful hikes, bike tours or boat tours on the Neckar invite you to relax and enjoy.
Should you need to visit the university clinic, however, you find yourself only 6 km away from that, either.
Getting there:
from BAB Heilbronn - Mannheim
Exit Sinsheim, in direction of Heidelberg to NeckargemĂĽnd,
at the traffic light in NeckargemĂĽnd across the Neckar, then left to Heidelberg-Ziegelhausen.
At the exit Ziegelhausen-Mitte, you leave the road (Umgehungsstrasse), turn right and drive towards Wilhelmsfeld.
After some 2 km, right after the pedestrian bridge across the Peterstaler-Strasse, make an immediate turn right into Sitzbuchweg.
After 150 m, turn right and then drive straight for 500 m (until you reach the space where you can turn around on your left). You are at Höhenstrasse 20, your destination.
from BAB Karlsruhe - Frankfurt:
Drive Kreuz Heidelberg in direction of Heidelberg to BAB-Ende, then cross the Neckar river in the direction of the “Chirurgie.” After the bridge, make an immediate turn right and drive along the Neckar river to Ziegelhausen-Mitte. Here, you turn off the Umgehungsstrasse road and left, driving towards Wilhelmsfeld.

More travel info about Heidelberg: Situated on the Neckar River and home to approximately 150,000 people, Heidelberg is one of Germany's most popular and picturesque travel destinations. Heidelberg provides both a glimpse at history with its world famous castle, and a look to the future as a forward-thinking municipality, coupled with advanced research coming from the oldest university in Germany, established in 1386. The town itself is relatively small, and most visitors spend time in the old part of the town and the Bismarckplatz. In addition to the castle and university, other highlights of Heidelberg include the oldest botanical gardens in Germany (Botanischer Garden der Universitaet), the beautiful and inspiring Philosopher’s Walk (Philosophenweg), and the largest regional Gothic church (Heiliggeistkirche). The Palatinate Museum, one of Heidelberg's finest baroque residences, houses extensive collections of art and artifacts, in addition to covering the history of the town and region. These are among the reasons that more than 3 million people visit Heidelberg each year.

Chapel Hill, North CarolinaWhat a view!
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
The view from the patio alone is worth the visit. The master bedroom has a large full bath with shower, tub, and washer/dryer. The living room has 2 twin murphy beds in addition to the living room furniture. There is another half bath and small, but complete, kitchen. The hostess was helpful and available. A great affordable launch pad close to Heidelberg without the hassle of parking in the city.
