Shiplake is situated within the Thames Valley and Chiltern Hills area of outstanding natural beauty. Day trips could include the towns of Reading (7 miles), Windsor castle (15 miles), Didcot Railway Centre (21 miles) and the university town of Oxford (22 miles).

All the vibrant sights and sounds of London (41 miles, 45 mins by fast train) are also but a short journey away. All of these can be reached by train from Shiplake station via Twyford.

By car you could explore the beautiful countryside with its numerous country homes, estates and National Trust properties such as: Greys Court; Stonor Park; Cliveden; Westcombe Park; and Hughenden.

Golf courses are plentiful and nearby sports venues include Ascot, Newbury and Windsor racecourses.

The Henley Regatta is charged at £1200 for the week and the Henley Festival, Chrsitmas and New Year are charged at £900 for the week.

We can accept payments by cheque or bank transfer. Paypal attracts a 2% fee, please enquire.

A £350 deposit is required to secure the booking and the full amount is payable 8 weeks prior to the booking. The deposit will be non refundable if the booking is cancelled and no-one else books the property for that period. Otherwise, the deposit will be returned within 14 days of departure from the property with any damage/breakables deducted.

The hire of canoes is an extra £50 on top of the weekly rate. Canoes can only be hired when the weather is fine and the river is not high. A maximum of 3 people are allowed in one canoe at any time. For the hire of canoes an extra deposit of £500 must be given (out of which the owner will retain money for any damage to or loss of the canoes and/or equipment). You will have to obtain your own insurance for unsupervised use of canoes (likely to be covered in most holiday insurance policies, please check). You must also agree to various safety precautions such as wearing life jackets and watching a safety video.
