      Magnificent

Left on 09/06/2012 for a stay in May 2012

This was truly a luxurious holiday and well worth the stay. The home was so comfortable and magnificent. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of cutlery and crockery. The owners were on hand to deal with anything that we needed and left a basket of cakes and wine on the kitchen table for us to enjoy on arrival. It was wonderful to wake up and look over the fields. It was quiet and peaceful with the most amazing grounds to play games or just sit and enjoy the fresh air. The lounge was huge complete with grand piano with fresh windows opening to the outside. There was even a games room for the children complete with lots of toys and games. The bedrooms were absolutely beautiful and well decorated. All in all, it was perfect for a large group of people with enough room in the house for everyone to wander around and not feel on top of each other. There were lovely walks from the home along the road and the the main town of Hereford was not too far to drive. There was nothing that we did not like, everything was perfect with our stay and I wished we could have stayed longer.

Brilliant family celebration in a wonderful location at an amazi

Left on 01/09/2012 for a stay in November 2011

The owners were extremely helpful and dealt with any problems immediately. They put us in touch with people to provide special party food and were on hand to advise on other places to find what we needed. We would go there again, maybe in the summer, and explore further afield. Walks from the house great.

Loved the big ballroom for a party and the massive family bedroom, plus the variety of spaces for everyone, especially for playing the wii. Problems with the odours in the dining room (and later the sitting room) meant we spent more time in the other rooms, and the kitchen.

      Enjoyable relaxing holiday.

      Good overall accommodation and garden.
One complaint is the lack of wardrobe space for all the bedrooms except the master bedroom. Even if wardrobes were placed on the landings outside the bedrooms this would help.

Response from Sykes Holiday Cottages - 09/20/2011

      Sykes Holiday Cottages

      Manager

Thank you for your review which Sykes Cottages and the owners were very sorry to receive. When the issues arose during your stay in December 2010 the owners reacted immediately and went out of their way to help and try to rectify the issues. The owners take their role and responsibilities as owners very seriously and their guests’ safety is very important to them. They visited your party on numerous occasions to keep you informed of how they were trying to rectify the situation. A chimney sweep came to sweep all the chimneys, the builders came back and checked all the chimneys, and no faults were found. The fires and chairs were all in perfect working order before your arrival. The owners advised you not to use coal on the wood fires but unfortunately you continued to do so, hence the smoke filled rooms. The owners are very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay in their lovely home and apologised to you at the time as they do again now.

      A Perfect Famuily Holiday

Left on 09/15/2010 for a stay in July 2010

Abbey Dore was a spacious, comfortable, attractive holiday house - space for a family of 17 to be together and space for us to be on our own when required. The garden offered space to sit and space for the children to play
We could not have asked for more.
