Spirit Hill Guest House & Gardens is located in the charming town of Hermann, Missouri, named one of the prettiest towns in America by Forbes Magazine. Hermann is in the heart of Missouri wine country, with four wineries nearby, and several others within a few miles. The Katy Trail, a biking and hiking trail across the state, is just across the Missouri River bridge. Hermann is also within minutes of fishing and kayaking destinations, and a public golf course is just a couple of miles away. Parking at Spirit Hill is never a problem. Amtrak stops in Hermann, and there is a local trolley service for transportation from the train station to Spirit Hill and to all the wineries and restaurants.

I was a guest here this weekend in their patio suite, one large room that would make Manhattan apartment dwellers green with envy. Comfortable (very comfortable) bed, good shower, jacuzzi tub, robes, a near-full ktichen (no stove, just a microwave), just above the river with views across the valley. The decor is comfortable and eclectic; it really feels like you're in someone's own home. Which you are; they live on the premises. At the very edge of town, so there's privacy, too. Good stuff. Just be aware, this is not a bed and breakfast; there's a coffee maker and things for it, but there are more and more options for morning food in Hermann and nearby now. Or buy some sausage from Swiss Meats, a worthwhile side trip, get some eggs at a farmer's market or at a roadside sign, and DIY.

For the last five years my family, which is scattered from the atlantic to the Pacific coast, meets in Hermann MO for Oktoberfest. We have stayed at several different Bed and Breakfast Inns in the area and have enjoyed our stay in all of them; however, the Spirit Hill Guest House is by far the best. For the last two, going on three years my family has stayed here. You will find no better views that over look both the Missouri river and the town of Hermann, nor will you meet friendlier people than Marsha and Gary. The gardens are beautiful, the house is spacious and well decorated, and the area is very private.

I absolutely loved my experience at Spirit Hill.It was just the perfect venue for my bridesmaids to stay last June for my Hermann wine country wedding. This delightful B&B; is situated on a beautiful bluff overlooking the Missouri River, making it a wonderful place to relax and enjoy nature.From the moment you pull up the drive, you are greeted by beautiful gardens. There is no topping the gorgeous river view from the backyard where you can build a pit fire and cozy up to watch the sunset. The house & rooms are incredibly clean with fresh/unique, modern decor. The owners are very friendly and know everything about where to go to have a good time in Missouri wine country. I highly recommend staying at Spirit Hill Guest House.

The owners of Spirit Hill, in addition to being wonderful hosts, have an incredible eye for detail in this home. Pieces of Hermann history and tasteful artwork are diaplayed everywhere. There is a conscious attention to architectural detail that will have you in discovery mode for days. I can't say enough about how incredible this home is.
The view of the river is spectacular. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. I tried, but have been unable to come up with any negatives.
The trip to the top of Spirit Hill is well worth it. I hope you enjoy the peaceful oasis that Marsha and Gary have created.

We had the best time at Spirit Hill Guest House!! Marsha and Gary are the nicest hosts! We came in for a wedding and they were so nice to us and made us feel so welcome. The place is beautiful and we felt at home. We are planning on a trip back to Hermann so we can stay at their place again and relax and not worry about a wedding.
One of my best stays anywhere!!
The views are spectacular and it is close to everything. -

We have been coming to Spirit Hill Guest House for about 8 years for the wine fest. We absolutely love this house and since the remodel it is off the hook. The rooms are beautiful and well done. The view by the fire pit is so awesome, we just love the place. We will keep coming back for years to come and we highly recommend this place. Great job Marsha and Gary! See ya in October!

We have stayed in many B & B's and Guest Houses across the country and this one ranks as one of the very best. The home is comfortable, clean and makes you want to stay longer. The location is ideal for a relaxing weekend and is well-situated for a visit to the sights of Hermann and the surrounding area. It is our favorite stop on our annual drive to Florida.

I use a wheelchair full time, so I was thoroughly impressed with the accessibility of the main floor! The roll in shower, kitchen, dining room, and deck were great. I was able to relax and socialize and enjoy the river view. This is a marvelous home to recommend for future stays.
