What Past Guests Are Saying

The cottage is semi-rustic and very comfortable. This is our third year to spend a four or five-day get-away at Stone's Throw. We love it.
There are great hikes to waterfalls, mountain trails, or just around the town of Highlands.
quiet, peaceful, restful, plenty of close by shopping
Stone's Throw was the perfect get away this past winter! The cabin is very charming, cozy and inviting. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious. During spring, summer and fall the back porch must be a relaxing place to hang out with family and friends. It is very convenient to Highlands, NC which has shopping and restaurants. Lots of great hiking in the area, too, which is why we went. The owners, Mark and Chris, were very nice and easy to work with! We would definitely go back!!

Love the cabin!
The cabin is great - two couples had all the room and privacy we needed; great screened in porch; internet access, nice neighborhoods to walk in nearby. The owner checked to make sure all was ok a couple of times, and was really pleasant and helpful.Kitchen was well stocked.
A charming cottage next to the lake
We had a lovely time at Stone's Throw! The kitchen was stocked with basics (a few spices, salt, pepper, basic canned goods, plenty of cookware, utensils, dishes, etc) so that we didn't have to bring everything from home. The common area was very cozy with a gas fireplace, magazines, books, and games. The bedrooms were nicely appointed. And, the view from the back porch was great. The cabin is close to the downtown/main street area of Highlands; you could probably walk there but sidewalks don't go all the way. Behind the cabin is a small road/lane around a small lake which is nice to walk around. All in all, we had a nice, relaxing time and would definitely recommend this location to others!

Just what the doctor ordered!
We just love it at Stone's Throw. Quiet, restful and relaxing. Every need is anticipated and provided for. Near wonderful waterfalls and great hiking opportunities. Stone's Throw is our favorite anniversary destination.
A great place to stay with the comforts of home.
This cabin was a darling, cozy cabin. My husband & I and our children absolutely loved it. Our kids were able to run around without the fear of disturbing others. Plus, with the privacy fence around the property, our kids could go outside and we didn't have to worry about them going far. We also loved the fact that everything was already provided for us to use, such as towels, sheets, pillows, etc. It truely gave us the comfort of home without being home.

We loved our stay at Stone's Throw. We are a couple in our 60's, that recently got together . We found each other through Facebook, after being high school sweethearts in 1963.
We found Stone's Throw exactly what we were looking for.
If you go there, pray for a night of rain, the metal roof will play you a tune.
We plan to visit again soon
Charming, well cared for cabin
Stones Throw Cabin is located close to the town of Highlands. It is very clean and comfortable - not fancy, but charming. We cooked a good bit and found the kitchen very well equipped. Perfect getaway for a small family, couple, or two couples who want to enjoy town, but also hike and enjoy the lake. I have stayed there twice and enjoyed both trips.
The pictures of this cabin do not do it justice. It is very well maintained and comfortable. Very clean. It is private and located nearby Highlands where there are great shops and restaurants. Check in and all paperwork was handled promptly and with great courtesy.

Perfect Place For a Perfect Mountain Getaway
The Stone's Throw Cabin was everything and more than we expected! If you want the perfect cabin for any time of year, this is it! We have been coming to Highlands for over 17 years and have stayed in many many places. This is truly on of the best! For cozy, comfortable and has everything you need. We enjoyed Wine and Happytizers each afternoon and evening on the porch and enjoyed grilling out both nights! Just try it.. you won't be disappointed! We will be back in the very near future. Thank you Mark and Chris!
