Columbia, South CarolinaGreat Thanksgiving at Bat Cave.
Left on 12/31/2012 for a stay in November 2012
This is a late review but well deserved. Thanks to Bruce and Marion for a great Thanksgiving weekend. We had two families, 8 people stay at the old Bat Cave post office and had a great weekend. The hot tub was wonderful at the end of each day because we walked up and down chimney rock and thru some other trails on two different days. The kids held air hockey and shuffle board tournaments, we watched movies together, and the internet helped us to be able to research and plan a day in ashville (a beautiful drive). The house is literally right between the river and the road between the valley leading to Lake Lure. We'll probably come back in the summer to use the river.

I accidentally authorized this review on my i-phone. Once I was able to read it, I realized that it is not a review of my home. My home is on a lake not a river and it is not called the old Bat Cave post office. It would be misleading to keep this review, even though it is a good one. Please remove it from my reviews. I am so sorry for the mistake. Thanks for your help, Mary Ann Badovinac

West Columbia, SCA Piece of Highlands' Heaven
Left on 08/01/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This beautiful house is very neat, well furnished, and well supplied with all (and more!) of the amenities we needed to have a wonderful, restful stay. Even a great selection of games, videos, and books. The open loft area gave the ladies who slept there the feeling of waking up in a tree house; they have staked out that area for themselves for next year's get-away! The covered deck was great for enjoying morning coffee, breathing in mountain air, communing with nature and the hummingbirds, and planning the day's shopping and hiking schedule. Highlands is only 5 minutes away. Tiered steps led down to a beautiful lake where we watched fish about. There is a path around the lake and through an apple orchard. We left feeling rested, refreshed and sad that our stay here seemed to end so quickly!

MariettaWhat a place of beauty, relaxation, and spaciousness - but close
Left on 07/21/2012 for a stay in April 2010
If you're looking for a place to stay that's very convenient to the activity of downtown Highlands but provides a wooded, gorgeous, comfortable place to get away, this cabin is it! If you want to stay inside, do so in spaciousness and beauty, with all the luxuries of home. The all-wood interior is lovely, and the numerous, long windows provide a light and uplifting ambience.
I'm told that sleeping was perfect on the main floor, but my personal favorite spot was high up in the "loft" that overlooks the living area. Outside the lake-front doors is a comfortable deck surrounded by rhododendrons and birds. But what I couldn't get over was the outstanding, multi-tiered wooden stairway that led down to the dock on the lake. I was in heaven! A resort city just minutes away, a beautiful and comfortable cabin, a surrounding of nature, and a dock on the water - you can't get much better than this. -

Secluded cabin with beautiful views! We have stayed in several cabins in the Highlands area and this is our favorite. The private lake is right in front with a great dock for reading or fishing. The town is within a few minutes away.
Lots of nice hikes around the lake and nearby areas.
The kitchen is well equipped and the great room is very pretty. Large covered porch with tiered decks. This home is comfortable with nice furnishings. -

Beautiful, spacious, fun get away with co-workers. So much to do in Highlands. Hike near waterfalls and shop! This house was amazing! Beautifully decorated and with a landscaped walkway to the lake. It was so pretty and peaceful, I didn't want to leave.

I have had the plaseure of staying at this cabin on more than one occasion. The cabin offers everything needed to have a great weekend away. It sits on a beautiful lake. Our stay in the cabin was wonderful as it was very comfortable and made us feel very much at home. It is super spacious and very well designed/decorated. I've stayed there with friends and with my son. Therefore it is well suited for adults and for kids. There are beuatiful trails, waterfalls, and shopping in the area. I will definitly be making more trips to Highlands and my place of choice will be this cabin for sure!
