Myself and 5 friends stayed at the villa for 4 days. It's simply amazing and the staff are great. If we are in SL again we will be staying at Six degrees north for sure.

Kuwait City, KuwaitAbsolutly perfect for our family vacation
Left on 03/30/2013 for a stay in February 2013
My family and I stayed at 6 degrees for a week in February 2013 and found that the villa and its staff far exceeded our expectations in almost every possible way. It started before our arrival with the owner, Suzanne, who provided answers to my every little question and suggested ideas for excursions based on my input. Every one of her recommendations turned out to be exactly what my family and I (including my wife, her mother, and our 2 little girls, ages 2 and 4) were looking for. Then there is her staff, who understood exactly what we wanted and needed without us having to tell them. Udith, the manager, worked within the guidelines I gave for excursions and worked out the best days and times to do each, arriving at each excursion at the ideal time of day in terms of crowds, sunsets, et cetera, to get maximum enjoyment out of them. Plus, he was a real joy to sit and talk with at the beginning or end of each day! Then there is Kalum, the chef. He is a fabulous chef (and my wife and I can be tough critics in this department, as can our children), with a repertoire of amazing dishes, including Sri Lankan and Thai curries, grilled seafood (you must try the lobster!!!), as well as nice pasta dishes and sandwiches, with everything seasoned and spiced perfectly - not "native Thai spicy", and not bland -- just right. Dambi, the driver, is incredible at his job -- and be glad you have him, because you don't want to try to figure out the well-choreographed dance that is driving in Sri Lanka. He made all the drives (and 1 or 2 of them were somewhat long) very comfortable for us and our children, and he did all the little things, like stop for bananas so that we would have something to feed the gi-normous squirrels during the river cruise, show us where to stop for coconut drinks and fresh pineapples on the side of the road, and get us the locals' price for each, and where to stop for a good photo opportunity. And the house staff were incredible too -- they took care of everything we needed without intruding or anything -- their presence was exactly as you would hope.
The villa itself is so charming. It is a little hidden gem -- when you turn off the busy street onto the property, it is just its own little slice of paradise. Parrots chirp in the coconut palms at sunrise and sunset, the kingfishers dive into the pool, chipmunks race along the top of wall, and the sunsets over the ocean viewed from the upper-level deck are second to none. We were happy lounging in the hammock, splashing with our little ones in the pool, or enjoying a drink in the shade. The pool was quite small, but was adequate for our small children. However, when we were there some contractors came to do estimates for the job to make it much bigger and include a bar in the pool at the other end. Hopefully when you go there (after May 2013) you will have a bigger pool to enjoy. But that did not detract from our stay at all.
Whatever you need, the staff will make it happen -- Udith is a guy who can get it done, whatever it is. We would love to come back to Sri Lanka, and if we do, there is no other place we would consider staying.Response from MRS SUZANNE SUNDIN - 04/02/2013

I stayed at 6 Degrees North with my family in January.
From the time we arrived and were welcomed with a cool towel and nice drink we just knew our holiday would be special.
The staff were so gracious and happy to do anything we requested... and the night man was incredibly funny, his way of bidding good night was a classic.
Udith, the ever genial manager was a treat. He took us everywhere and showed us so many great places off the beaten track.
One night, on Full Moon we were treated to hundreds of tiny turtles, they must have been laid a few nights before and it was just fascinating to watch them waddle to the ocean. O
The food in the villa is very special. Mostly Sri lankan, but they are able to cook most things, all very fresh and such a great variety. The chef is great and showed us all how to cook a great feast.
The villa is so comfortable, with loads of nice seating, and the restaurant area has a perfect view and is great for a relaxing read as there are day beds up there. Always a good breeze too.
Our only regret is that we did not have long enough... next time we will stay weeks! -

Left on 02/05/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We stayed a week at this beautiful villa during last Christmas and had a wonderful time! Large and nicely decorated villa with a garden right on a stunning beach which we most of the time had on our own! The staff was very helpful, genuinely nice and spoiled us with delicious meals. Definitely try Niahs Springhoppers for breakfast and her Rice&Curry; which was the best we had during the whole trip in Sri Lanka! Udith at the villa organized different excursions and booked secure Tuk-Tuk, all very good and efficient!
We went to ambalangoda maskmuseum&factory; which was very interesting and here is where you find the best handcrafted masks in the country and at the best prices. On the same day we did a cruise on the lakes next to ambalangoda which was very beautiful and relaxing! (make sure to bring a lot of small currencies as you tip a lot...) Unawatuna was not worth it, too far and too crowded beach... Hikkaduwa, a cool surf city, was a nice halfday-trip with Tuk-Tuk!
Of course, you can also just stay and relax at the villa, read in the hammock, take a dip in the pool or take a walk on the beach... It's a lovely place! -

My husband and I had stayed in many villa rentals before, just the 2 of us or in groups, never had we been so satisfied before. This was our 1st trip in Sri Lanka and 1st stay at SDN. 1st week of December, 4 nights altogether. From the moment we were picked up at the airport til the moment we left we were very well taken care of and well fed. Our villa manager, Udi,his knowledge and friendliness guided us thru the trip. His driver took us everywhere we wanted to go, never a sleepy moment even driving us 3 hrs to airport at 3 o'clock in the morning. He continue serving us with his head up back straight just kept driving and driving. The housekeeping team, 2 gorgeous ladies and a wonderful honest doorman gave us a home to stay. We loved the local food but if you cannot handle that, the staff there would cook you anything you want (well most stuff). The rooms were clean and just everything you need are available to you. The private beach at the front was beautiful, the locals are so friendly, they are open to conversation and you will see fishermen early in the mornings if you stroll down the coastline. My fishing loves fishing and had caught some good size fishes there.

Left on 10/30/2012 for a stay in October 2012
We Stayed at the Villa for three nights during October. We were 4 couples, so I did a pretty thorough job in searching for a villa that would accommodate 4 couples in separate bedrooms, all en suite. Suzanne, the owner, was very helpful and assisted in any request that we had.
The proximity to the beach (literally on the beach) was the best, and the villa and staff, especially Udith, the Villa manager, were very helpful. Udith also runs a small tourist agency, so he arranged for us a trip to Galle, transportation back to Colombo (including a boat trip on the Madu River, which was very nice), and even a birthday party with fireworks and a band!
The only issue we had, was with the fourth bedroom - basically, one of the three original bedrooms with a high ceilings was split it into two, thus creating another bedroom on the upper level. This room suffers from quite high noise, and the couple that stayed there was not very happy. Therefore I recommend this room for children of the family, etc., but not as a separate room for another couple. -

LagosThird stay here!
Left on 07/08/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This was our third visit ti the lovely beach house. Just a quick detour enroute from australia to Europe.
What a surprise to see a fantastic new 2 story wing facing the pool.It had just been completed - a traditional outdoor kitchen and a massage treatment downstairs and upstairs a huge relaxing dining /lounging area with amazing views of the ocean and sunsets.
With the new kitchen we took the opportunity to be the first to try out the clay pot cooking lessons with the staff - from shopping for the ingredients, to chopping , preparing and cooking. It was a lot of laughs , even the boys joined in grinding the array of herbs and spices. Then enjoyed eating upstairs taking in the Indian ocean view washed down with some aussie wine we found in the local bottle shop!
As before all the staff, Udith, the house girls , driver and the nite watchman we so helpful and obliging. This trip we hardly left the house choosing to eat in and just relax .Funny that doing nothing and all that salt air ( and G &Ts;!) makes you tired !
We will try and get another booking and return before Christmas or at least when there is some international cricket scheduled!
So third visit says alot - we are now based in africa so it is respite from the bustle of Nigeria, but from where ever you live it is well worth the flight to Colombo and the road trip to Six degrees North..Response from MRS SUZANNE SUNDIN - 07/09/2012

Hamstreet, KentTotally pampered!
Left on 02/01/2012 for a stay in December 2011
The perfect beach house; spacious, fully equipped, divinely comfortable, elegantly furnished, with a view to die for!
As highly independent travellers, we originally planned to be completely self-catering, especially as we had had a previous bad experience of house staff making a fortune out of our food and drink. So the big kitchen at our disposal was going to be much-used. As it turned out, Sanjee the housekeeper provided such an excellent dinner on our arrival, at very little more than it would have cost us to buy the ingredients, that we instantly resolved to let her and her staff pamper us! They accommodated our lazy teenage sons by providing breakfast in stages as the boys woke up. They crept around so quietly we felt no intrusion of privacy, yet the moment we were up, there was tea or coffee prepared for us, just as we liked it. Total bliss. Do not miss Sanjee's Sri Lankan banquet, or her barbequed fish either!
We started our holiday with our relaxing week on the beach, yet we managed to do so many different activities as well; we saw the turtle sanctuary in Kosgoda, went on a fascinating boat trip round the lagoon, visited a spice garden where we had a massage, had a half day in Galle and another to Mirissa to go blue whale watching. All great experiences, and all organised by the wonderful Udi, who is the house manager and tour operator. He went on to help us organise the rest of our tour around the island, much cheaper than we had expected. We had booked all our hotels independently in advance, thinking we had got the best deals, but Udi could have got some of them cheaper, so let him plan for you, you won't regret it.
And as for the wonderful Suzanne, with whom I exchanged countless emails, I now consider her my penpal! Her help, advice and explanations made the holiday so much better, and her flair for design and chosing the right furnishings and linens made the house so beautiful and comfortable. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so perfect.Response from MRS SUZANNE SUNDIN - 02/05/2012

I was thoroughly impressed with the house and the staff. The location was gorgeous, the house was well maintained and very modern. The staff were great and took care of every one of our needs. Udi was freindly, informative and took complete care of us. He set up multiple tours for us and each one was well organized and well executed. Wimal was a fun driver and very informative during our tour of Kandy and Sigiriya; I highly recommend a tour to Sigiriya. Pramer and Sanjay were impeccable cooks and all of the food we were served was unbelievable. We never ate anywhere but the villa it was so good. Meusinha took care of us at night and watched over the property, he did not speak english very well but we enjoyed his company nonetheless. I would recommend this villa to anyone travelling through Sri Lanka as you will not be disappointed. Thanks Udi for everything my freind!

August is off season but we had fantastic weather and coming from dubai i was thrilled with the few downpours that lasted all less than half an hour. the property is stunning, all the doors open up and you can cook looking right out to the ocean. the beach is private and quiet with only neighbouring locals sharing in it - it is clean in front of 6 degrees north but if you walk in either direction the beach has garbage on it - as it does everywhere in SL. A nightwatchman is a nice touch as we already felt safe but that was a bonus. pool is quaint and perfect for taking a dip to cool off, they even put a rope over it for the kids to jump in. I spent hours laying in the hammock reading. the gal who works there brought fresh fruit every morning and made coffee which she brought to us on the veranda. She even taught me to make dhal and sent me home with some fresh herbs she picked up. the location is great for renting scooters (if you are a confident driver) and cruising into hikkaduwa along the coastal road, we went as far as Galle and back. there is great little restaurants and markets so we cooked and ate out. didn't get a chance to dive as it was off season but when i go back next in season will stay here again. we spent the last night dining with the property manager and he cooked for us - lots of laughs and will cherish the time at 6 degrees north always.

We stayed at Six Degrees North for one week and had a wonderful experience. The villa is beautifully designed and tastefully furnished with views straight out over the beach and sea. The villa is on a beautiful stretch of beach that is very quiet and peaceful. There were six of us in our group, inlcuding two kids, and we were all comfortable and so realxed the entire time. The villa is very big and we all had plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy our stay. We did not want to leave!!
But what really made our stay special was the care and attention of the small team of people looking after us. They felt like family to us. They were all amazing people that went out of their way to take care of us and to make sure we had a fabulous time. The meals were outstanding and the housekeeper went out of her way to produced dishes she knew we liked. The villa location was also quiet and friendly - with not another tourist in sight (which was great).
All in all, an experience to remember for all the right reasons. Highly recommended. Our only regret was that we did not stay longer!Response from MRS SUZANNE SUNDIN - 04/29/2011
