We have stayed at these cabins many times. For location, convenience, and mountain beauty they are my first choice.
We especially like walking/biking on the Mickelson Trail just beside the property. Well furnished kitchen, laundry , 4 bedrooms and loft with 2 queen beds combine to make an ideal setting for family and friends. Add in cool mountain air and a beautiful setting , ample living and dining space and a porch for bird-watching. Black Hills
living at its best. -

TexasGreat spot for seeing the black hills without being "in town"

When we first pulled up, we thought it was a lot smaller than we expected. We had an extra large group of extended family that included a lot of youger kids so we had planned to have kids on the floor in their parents' rooms, but it was tight. The location was just a couple miles from Hill City, which had easy access to a grocery store whose prices were not unreasonable. That made it easy to shop for the food to feed our large group. We cooked breakfast and dinner for at least 15 people each day, without too much difficulty. We could only put about 8-10 around the kitchen table, but a good size picnic table was also available on the front deck, so that worked out OK. We had to tape two layers of garbage bags over the bedroom windows in order to sleep past 4:30 or 5 in the morning. The hot tub was nice at the end of a long day, but one set of jets would only work about 10 minutes before shutting down and not working for about an hour or so. The owner offered to supply a larger crockpot, when we inquired which was really helpful. The supply of ready to burn firewood at the shared fire pit, made for easy and fun campfires. Good beds, great sheets, bedspreads a little scratchy. Plenty of parking off well maintained gravel driveway. We were glad we brought a couple lawn chairs and were glad we had them, because only 2 plastic chairs were included, other than the picnic table. Nice lawn in front was a perfect spot for kids to run around and play games and the satellite tv kept them relatively quiet in the morning.

There are 3 cabins in the property, A, B, and C. The cabin shown on the website, cabin a, is the largest cabin having 8 bedrooms (I think). We stayed in Cabin C which is the eastern cabin. Cabin B and C are similar and have 2 baths, bedrooms with a loft with two beds. The bedrooms are at each corner of the house on the first level with a bathroom in between two bedroom so there is some privacy as no bedrooms have common walls.
The floor plan is pretty open with the kitchen and great room basically forming the middle of the house. The TV is located on top of the fireplace mantle which makes viewing awkward as you have to look up while sitting on the sofa. The deck in front of the house is great. Perfect for sitting in the afternoon with your favorite beverage as you watch people walk/jog/run on the Mickelson Trail or cars go by the highway.
The house is floor plan is not set-up to be a home. Its set-up to be a vaction rental.
Thang, the owner/operator is very gracious and understanding. So long as you communicate with him ahead of time, you wont have any hiccup. He even stopped by to ask we needed anything.
Overall, I would stay in the house than in a hotel. You pay extra but you have more freedom. -
