I have stayed at some of the nicest oceanfront homes on the island. We had fewer people and elderly relatives who usually go with us did not this year so we tried this home. Overall,, we had a pleasant stay. the pool was a little smaller than I would have liked but privacy was good with the absolutely wonderful landscaping. The a/c in the master bedroom was inadequate but a nice ceiling helped to make up for it. The kitchen was adequately stocked and very nice. The home needs updated to include flat screen tv's. We had a wonderful stay and I would rent this home again if I was in a pinch as far as availability.

We rented this house at nearly the last minute, for the week of July 4. Basically, we took whatever we could get at that point, but we were so happily surprised on arrival. The house was huge for just our family--it could comfortably hold 2 or 3 families. It was clean, and well set-up. The pool was definitely the highlight. We hooked up our ipods to the sound system, and played in the pool every night!
Only drawbacks: the kitchen fridge was somewhat on the smallish size, and had some broken drawers. Needs to be replaced. But that is a minor issue. Main drawback is with Sea Pines in general. It is so loud! I have never understood why so many landscapers spend so much time blowing and trimming with their loud equipment. Over the years, noise has always been an issue here, but this time it was absolutely ridiculous. 8 Grey Widgeon is situated in a very crowded neighborhood, and although the house and pool were quite private, the noise from surrounding landscapers was enough to drive anyone crazy. The poor family behind us was actually in their pool one afternoon when a crew arrived and fired up a chainsaw, taking down a small tree right at the edge of their pool patio. It was inexcusably loud.
So, if you don't mind leaf blowers and chainsaws, this house will be ideal. And, Destination Vacations was quick and very efficient in our dealings.
We had an awesome family vacation.

The house was great. The grill seems to be on its last leg but we were still able to use it. and other than a few minor repairs that the house probably needs we loved it. The location was great and would definitely go back to that location and or area again. In fact, we are looking forward to doing that.
The entire family had a great time.

We have rented homes in the Sea Pines Plantation over the last 5 years. The house at 8 Grey Widgeon was the nicest we've stayed in.
The house is beatuifully designed and professionally appointed. The pool is a nice size and the property is a pleasant walk to the beach.
I would highly recommend this home for large groups. Their was plenty of privacy for all three of the families that stayed there.
The house has beautiful high ceilings, lots of interesting architectural nooks and crannies and looks brand new. The house was exceptionally clean and fresh.
As with all the Sea Pines properties we stayed at, we felt like we were the only ones there because of the distinct way the homes are sited and the use of lush landscaping for privacy.
The kitchen is spacious and well laid out. And we easily prepped meals for a large group. The only draw back was the efficiency of the appliances. The appliances really need to be upgraded/replaced to accomodate large groups.
The wall oven was small and food had to be cooked in shifts and the cooktop did not heat quickly or effectively. The diswasher was older and tilted out of the cabinet space everytime you went to open the door to load it causing the racks to fly forward out of the machine. This was extremely annoying. (A house catering to such a large group should really have 2 dishwashers.) The kitchen facet has also seen better days.
Aside from these minor inconveniences, everything was perfect. The house has a lot of personal charm and you can tell that the homeowners are proud to share this home with guests.
And cudos to the Destination Vacation staff! Booking this trip was effortless thanks to their professional assistance.
We had a blast at the beach and our families will long look back at this vacation as one of our fondest!
