18 atlantic Pointe was a perfect get-away for my large family of 8 children. There was plenty of space for sleeping and privacy as well as feeding the entire family at meals. The house is literally steps from the ocean and extremely private with the neighborhood pool and tennis courts next door. We also enjoyed the endless biking/running trails as a family. As a mother of 8, I enjoy the safety of Sea Pines. My children have much freedom to explore the island on bikes for endless hours. We discovered Sea Pines and atlantic Pointe a few years ago and have been coming back ever since. My children from teens to toddlers all love it, as well as my extended family.
We hope to come back again!

We've stayed here for the past two Summers, with two families of four, and Grandma and Grandpa. The location is perfect...just steps from the beach, and with little kids in the family, we actually appreciate that the pool is not on the property, but right next door. This is a beautiful home, and we hope to return again in the future. That said, there were a few things that we noted that really should be addressed: 1.) The upstairs bedroom with two twin beds, which faces the tennis courts has floor to ceiling windows/doors that have no window covering. We have avoided even using this room because the young kids (who need an afternoon nap and go to bed early) would never be able to sleep with the light coming in. This actually could be the difference between our returning to this house, or not, because by next year, we will need that space. An investment by the owner or destination vacation of some blinds for that window would be well worth it. I suspect others must feel this way as well...there's no privacy in that room as it is right now. 2.) We felt that the house was lacking in smoke detectors (only noticed one, but maybe we missed them??) and didn't find any fire extinguishers around the house. 3.) The TV in the master bedroom caused some frustration, and only worked part of the time (both years). Instructions for using the TV, DVD, etc are provided in the Great Room area, and would be helpful with the other TVs in the house as well. 4.) There is a big chipped paint spot on the wall in the dining area. This obviously is a minor complaint, but it was like this 2 years in a row. For such a beautiful home, it seems that touch-ups to keep the house looking nice should be done at least annually. 5.) One or two more rocking chairs on the front porch would be a nice addition.
A great family vacation

The house was large enough for all of us to be very comfortable . (10 adults and 8 children 7 years and under. 5 bedrooms with private baths and dressing areas made it so nice. And then the loft was for the 5 older children to bed down in. We just added a blow up mattress in there. With babies it was nice to be able to put pack n plays in the walkin closets . The only 2 real complaints we had was the lower bedroom is too warm. A fan is a must! And the full size butler in the loft area scared the kids! Had to move him to our bedroom which scared the dickens out iof me in the middle of the night! The carpets need to be cleaned too. We had a wonderful family vacation and the location couldn't have been better for access to beach, tennis ,and the pool! Being able to just be at the beach in a minutes time without loading up the car was fantastic and allowed us to frequent it by foot or by bikes multiple times a day. Loved this place. Didn't want to leave !
Great location but construction and cleaning issues disappoint

Overall, the house worked for us in size and location but we were not informed about the construction until we picked up the keys. We were looking for some peace and quiet and this was difficult to get when we were at the house. Started at 7 a.m. and didn't conclude until 7 p.m. some nights - even on Saturday.
The house was not as clean as it should have been and a real top to bottom cleaning is in order. Cheerios were under family room sofa and one guest found a brace of some sort under their bed. Apparently, the cleaning staff doesn't move things around or clean under furniture.
One twin bedroom didn't have curtains/shades in place and our guests were exposed to light and lack of privacy - really inexcusable. The bed in one master bedroom had an old duvet on it without a cover and it was too small for the king-sized bed. Doesn't make one feel good that it might not have been cleaned between guests. A duvet cover shouldn't be optional and a too small cover shouldn't either. When we looked in the closet for other blankets, there were only twin blankets for the king-sized bed. No bedspread either.
Towel bars were mostly absent in the bathrooms. Master bath only had one small robe hook and had a few over-the-door hooks. Not what you expect for this kind of property and this price.
We were disappointed to find that what we thought would be a beautiful house was not so great close up.

We loved the house...great location...the location was the best of all vacations we have had. House was comfortable, although a little formal for beach. Air cond. in one bedroom was not good (front downstairs) and we wish for more chairs on porch, but other than that it was terrific.

Our family has stayed in this home several years. We love the relaxation of the front porch, the all family gathering in the kitchen/family room, bike trips to Harbour Town/South Beach, and cornhole tournaments on the beach. This is a delightful home that has provided us with wonderful memories. We hope to continue our vacations at 18 altantic Pointe for many more years.
