When you arrive at Urchin Manor, you immediately know you're in for a wonderful experience. The three magnificent homes that make up the "Urchin Manor" complex are nestled together; yet the size and scope of each home lends itself to privacy and a true "estate" feel. Simply perfect for a family reunion or special gathering where you want to b...e close, but not tripping over each other. These three homes can comfortably accommodate large parties from 18 to 21 people (see each individual listing), and also have areas to relax and be alone. Conveniently located in Burkes Beach in the middle of Hilton Head Island, these homes are less than one tenth of a mile to the sandy beaches and blue waters of the Atlantic.

Walk up the stairway to the entrance of #3 Urchin Manor and you enter the homes main living area, awash with sunlight. There are three floors above the two garages. The kitchen, dining, and main living room are located towards the front of the home and offer a spacious great-room for everyone to gather. There is seating for 10 to12 at the table and 5 more can be seated at the kitchen bar. This room has a wall of windows that will let the sun flood in with views of the pool, spa and deck area, just steps away. A gas grill is also located on the deck, just outside the dining area for those grilled delicacies. The large custom kitchen has granite counter tops, and all stainless steel appliances. In the living area, there is a large flat-screen plasma TV, DVD, VHS, and stereo system. All of the bedrooms have TV's with built-in DVD and VHS players (no VHS player in the children's room). The sofa doubles as a queen size sofa sleeper and there's a decorative fireplace. Further down the hall you'll find a half bath, laundry room with full capacity washer and dryer and the first of 6 bedrooms. This bedroom has a king size 4-poster bed and private bath with his and her sinks, whirlpool tub and separate shower.

On the second floor, accessible by the wide stairway, you'll find three more spacious bedrooms, each having their own private baths. The first bedroom has another king size bed, lovely sitting area with small couch, views of the ocean from the covered balcony and space to relax, breathe the salt-air and read a good book. The private bath in this room has his and her sinks, a whirlpool tub and separate shower. Another bedroom on this floor has a queen size bed and another has 2 double beds. There are balconies on the sides of the house for privacy or to enjoy the fresh air.

The third floor has a wonderful bonus room with hardwood floors, a large bar area, small refrigerator, separate icemaker, dishwasher and microwave. The sitting area has a queen size sleep sofa and a large 42" plasma TV. There is a desk with wireless connection, so bring your computer and stay in touch with work and friends. There is also a half bath in this room. From the balcony off this room, you have views of the ocean and pool deck below. Further down the hall is a fabulous children's room with three twin beds and one trundle. This room has it's own bathroom with a tub/shower combination. At the end of the hall is another master with king size bed and private bath. This room has access to a balcony as well. Spend a week at this home and your family will want to return year after year.

  12 of us spent a week. We did not feel crowded. Lots of room to spread out. Kids loved the pool and we were close to the beach. The house was clean and any problems we had were handled by the rental agency in a very timely manner.

  The Perfect Family Vacation

  As life is short and some of the members of our extended family are getting older, we decided to celebrate my sister in law's 80th b-day with a family reunion. Hilton Head became our chosen destination since the majority of our family lives in atlanta and Florida. We being from up North are always looking for an excuse to come down South. Since there were over 25 adults and children, we needed homes that were large enough to accomodate us, but wanted them close enough so we could run back and forth easily without having to get into a car or walk a long distance. When I called HH Rentals and Golf, a friendly and helpful woman named Judy Helliman suggested her favorite houses in HH- 3 and 5 Urchin Manor,in Burke's Beach which provided the perfect answer. At first I was worried about not being in Palmetto Dunes or Sea Pines, the more popular vacation spots in HH, but the houses in those areas are more expensive and it's almost impossible to get 2 large houses close to one another. These houses however were perfect. They had plenty of bedrooms, large modern kitchens/ bathrooms, big dining areas so we could always eat together,(we even had a Passover Sedar one nights for all 25 of us)and additional spaces throughout the houses for everyone to spend lots of quality time together. Both houses had pools which the children thorougly enjoyed. The beach was a 3 minute walk from our houses so everyday we spent time there too. Did I mention the weather was 80 and sunny each day!
  A few small areas of improvement.. 2 Tv's in bedrooms and a DVD player were missing upon our arrival. We were told they would be replaced, but that did not happen. And, the elevator in 3 Urchin kept breaking. A nice guy named Mike tried his hardest to fix but unfortunately it kept breaking, it was old. However, these were small inconveniences and did not effect our overall experience in Hilton Head. It was the "Perfect Family Vacation," and I would recommend these homes to anyone.

  Unit not clean on arrival. Trouble with air condition. Needs updating and repairs. Management very helpful and punctual .

  My family loved the house and the location. The beach was beautiful and the walk to the beach was short. In the house the only two improvements i would suggest is repairs to the third floor air conditioning--it was noticeably warmer upstairs and also an ice machine would be wonderful (maybe in place of the double trash can holder) as a single ice maker can't keep up with the number of people this house sleeps. But overall, wonderful!

  Great house. Great separation for different groups. Great kitchen with plenty of seating for all. Quiet laundry facility. No need to cross a busy street to get to the beach. excellent for kids. This is a great, well maintained house in an excellent location.
