Welcome to 8 Hilton Head Cabana, a 2 bedroom, 1 ½ bath villa on the front side of the complex across the street from the beach. The fully equipped kitchen has updated appliances with a granite bar area that opens to the dining area, which seats 6. After a fun day in the sun, relax in the living room which has a large flat screen TV, DVD player, mini stereo, and plenty of seating, including a queen sleeper sofa. This condo was everything I expected it to be. I have stayed at several units in Hilton head cabanas and this is certainly one of the nicest. Love the area because it's convenient to everything. The king size bed in the master bedroom was extremely comfortable.

My family of six had a great time at HH and the unit was great. Very clean, up to date and with all the amenities. We'll surely come back. The whole process was seamless. Had a need that was addressed and resolved within the day. Great service.

The staff at Palmetto Sands were great...however, #8 cabana was disappointing. the kitchen is not well-lit and the overstuffed furniture in the living room blocks half of the sliding glass doors. There should be a lock on the outside of the sliding glass door that permits you to lock the door from the outside while you are at the swimming pool.
There were candy and cookie wrappers stuffed between the double bed and the wall which attracted a 'huge' palmetto bug living under the bed. I awoke the second morning with a giant palmetto bug in the bed crawling on my back and neck!! The Palmetto Sands staff send the exterminator over to spray that same day, however, I didn't sleep very well the rest of the week. The cleaning people apparently don't move the beds and clean underneath.
The location of the Hilton Head Cabanas is the best! walk to the beach, walk to Coligny and restaurants. Weather couldn't be better and the beach is gorgeous! (Will not rent #8 again).Response from Palmetto Sands, LLC - 07/12/2012

I was unaware that the kitchen was lacking items, if our guests call with any needs we try to make sure that they are met within a timely matter; we do wish we were notified & have not had any other complaints about the kitchen. It was very unfortunate that you had to deal with a Palmetto Bug, we had several days of rain and then the weather changed and became extremely hot which do bring the bugs out which is nature.
The furniture is large and comfortable & I was unaware that they were blocking the sliding door, we would have came and moved it if we were notified. The cleaners do not clean under the bed on a regular bases, however I am sorry that you had to pickup wrapers.
We have decided to install a lock on the slidder due to your response.

The property was clean, tidy, and up to date. The Palmetto management staff were very helpful in getting us settled into this property. The location was great. Close to the ocean and shopping at the Caligny Plaza. The weather was just right for us for this time of year. Not too hot or humid. Great for golfing. But chilly for swimming in the pool, but then we don't swim. The house was well ventilated and we could enjoy the soothing cross wind ventilation from the ocean as there were windows in all the rooms, except for the bathrooms which are fan ventilated.Parking was right out front of our door. Easy access to bring in supplies and groceries. It was quiet in the area, both from a traffic and people noises. The little notes that the owners left for us re: operation of appliances, lights, router, and phone were very helpful. The colour scheme in the house was very easy on the eyes, very soothing. There were no bad odours, such as cigarette smoke, pet or cooking odours to contend with. The lighting was great with dimmers to create atmosphere. The kitchen could have a bit more lighting for cooking and reading cooking instructions. Our suggestion re the operation of the kitchen is that more cooking pots and pans and cooking utensils be made available. We like to eat in more than dine out. The appliances and furniture were up to date. The galley kitchen was easy to use and the furniture was well placed and useable. Loved the king size bed upstairs. If you have trouble negotiating stairs to the second level, this may not be the condo for you. There are no bedrooms on the main floor although the sofa may be a pullout. We never checked. All in all, we had a great time. We took care to treat this property with care, just as if it were our own, just as we would want our own property treated if we were letting it out to others. Thanks to all for a great experience of Hilton Head Island. We hope to return again in the near future.
