We thoroughly enjoyed our family visit to Hilton Head this summer. The home we rented was quite nice, however, not as comfortable as I would like for a one-week stay. The mattresses on the beds are way too soft which caused much back pain and a trip to the chiropractor as soon as I got home. The couches and chairs in the living room are not too comfortable either. We had to do a little cleaning upon arrival, many hairballs on the floor. Unfortunately, the bathroom situation is a result of poor planning. Both bathrooms are located in bedrooms which forces everyone to walk through when needing to bathe.
On the plus side the house is extremely close to the beach and has a very nice pool.
If returning to HHI again I would definitely look for a house with more convenient bathrooms.

This house was in the perfect location. Near the beach path and far enough down the beach away from the crowds. It was clean and well equipped. Bedroom configuration on the 2nd floor a little odd with glass french doors for one of the rooms and the 2nd bath was ensuite to one of the bedrooms making its use by guys and girls a little awkward. The master bedroom was huge as was the master bath. The pool and spa were very nice and we are now spoiled!
Additionally, Island Getaway is wonderful to work with. We used Express Check-in. My daughter left her medications in the upstairs 2nd bath. I contacted Island Getaway, they had the cleaning crew pick them up, they shipped them on Monday and we had them back by Wednesday. Great customer service. This is our 5th time renting from them and it will not be the last.

The house does not really accommadate the number of people that it says. We had to have people sleeping on the floor. It was a bad experience.

Lovely house in Palmetto Dunes in the gated Mariner's side (we are HHI regulars and like to stay in this area). Pros: great location (quiet, very close to beach), updated furnishings/decor, very clean interior, very nice screened-in porch, large rooms. Cons: A/C could not keep the upstairs cool (note on fridge said not to set below 72... we set it to 74 at night and it would run constantly at 79 trying to get down to 74 but could not reach 74 until the morning (Island Getaway even sent out an a/C guy, but it did not help); nice large TV in living room but unforunately not a good quality picture; furniture layout is not good for watching TV... Tv faces the fireplace with seating on the sides (we do not spend a lot of time watching TV but do like to watch in the evening or catch sports we are following); pool was dirty... the filter light on the control panel was on (not sure if that meant the filter was on or not, but felt like not on) and it certainly did not feel like the skimmers or drains were cleaning it out... we did a lot of cleaning ourselves with the net.
This was a nice clean house with enough space for 2 families.

The house was very nice and was kept very clean. We only had to kill 1 bug all week. The pool was a nice size. It took about a minute to walk up the path to the beach. The screened in porch was a great extra!
Fantastic location and amenities

4 Iron Clad was a great place to spend a week with our two kids and our in-laws! The location is ideal as you are a one-minute walk to the beach, but blocked from the ocean winds (we had some of the peripheral rains from one of the Florida hurricanes in late August). Fantastic heated pool and adjacent jacuzzi - a great deal of our stay was spent here. The kitchen was very well equipped. Large dining room right off the kitchen made meals convenient. The wrap-around porch would be a great spot for outdoor meals but the weather during our stay did not cooperate. Comfortable living room with large flat-screen TV. The bedrooms were large and well-furnished and the only minor issue was that they are quite close together, so that when our kids awoke (usually at the crack of dawn) everyone else was up too. Overall highly recommended, with the near-ocean location and the pool/jacuzzi and kitchen being outstanding value for the price.

LOVED this house! The bedrooms were very spacious and we even used the enormous master walk-in closet as a bedroom for the 11 month old baby! The children loved that there were games for them to play with and that they had their own little balcony off of their bedroom where they ate breakfast. The home is in great condition and has been kept up well. It was so nice having the pathway to the beach right next-door. The landscape is beautiful and made for some great non-beach pictures with the moss hanging from the large trees in the front yard. I could go on and on about the wrap around porch and screened porch. It was just a great house all around.
