Well that house was nice, but when we arrived there was mold on the ceilings and walls of the 1st floor twin bathroom. After calls to rental office, a plumber was called and someone to clean up the walls/ceilings. There were lamps that did not work, mops were moldy. It just appeared that the place was not kept up very well. We did enjoy our time on Hilton Head Island, however, for the money to rent this home, it had not been kept up. Older home and lamp not working is one thing, but mold on ceilings/walls/mops were not what I would expect for the money.

Our family, 6 adults and 5 grandgirls, had a terrific time. The unit set up perfect for us. We really enjoyed the kichen and dining area being on the first floow as prior units we had rented all had the kitchen and dining on the second floor. Beach access was another nice amenity. We'll come back!

This is an older property, with dated furnishings, but the prime location makes up for it's age. It's a great house, particularly if there are lots of children in your party. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the work space is wonderful. The bedrooms are spacious. Our only complaint is the beds weren't very comfortable, with the exception of the master. There is a caretaker specific to this property, and we found him to be very responsive. If you're looking for a beachfront property that's comfortable, but not flashy, this is the property for you!

We stayed for a week in late March 2008 with three families. Home allows plenty of space for each family to have a "wing" as we called it. Kitchen is large. We had issues with the pool heater many of the days we were there. Since it was March, a warm pool was important, but heater only worked a few days. If staying in the summer pool heat isn't an issue, but make sure it is resolved.
Home is average in terms of condition and decor - a good value, but not as luxurious as newer or more recently updated properties.

8 Ketch Palmetto Dunes
2008 was the 10th year that we have stayed at 8 Ketch, and we have reservations for 2009.
Each year, there has been major renovations done on the home. It is very well done, but not too "fancy" for our big family to relax and enjoy ourselves. It is a large home....so everyone is able to have 'their space' when needed. There is newer furniture on the deck surrounding the great pool and a fantastic new grill!!!(The little boys have grilled hot dogs every noon by the pool!!!!)
Allof us (we have six children and families) really do feel that we are in PARADISE when we have our week at 8 Ketch!!!!
Island Getaways is quick to respond whenever you call and need gas for the grill, more towels, or a "service" problem....even on a Sunday!!!!!
We are looking very forward to our May, 2009 visit!!

We had a wonderful time at 8 Ketch in Hilton Head. It was very spacious for 10 of us. If the original 16 had gone,it probably would have been a little tight. (Too many noisy little children) The location was perfect for the beach and golf...2 essentials to our family vacation. The house was beautiful and having the pool was a real plus. We had a nice wide beach for the entire day (tide in or out). The weather was perfect and we could not have asked for more. Our only "icky" part was the palmetto bugs. They were everywhere outside and several inside. That was our only draw back...of course the resort was called "Palmetto Dunes". Go figure!
