My husband and I had our honeymoon at HH in 1975. This was our first return. We brought our five children, spouses, grandchildren and significant others. Twelve adults and three children in all. We have rented vacation homes in the past but 9 Galleon exceeded our expectation. The living space was perfect, the view amazing and the proximity to the beach made it very easy for the young families to make multiple trips there throughout the day. And, if they wanted to stay closer to home, the pool was great. We had a small issue with the aC one day and it was fixed within an hour. I loved the fact that the housekeeping was complimentary and all I had to do was pack up my things and turn the key in. We are from the Midwest but have children living in la and Phoenix. It was such a great gathering place. We will never forget it and are already making plans to return.
I loved the layout of the 1st floor of this house, very cozy.

This is the first oceanfront home we have ever rented that we could not see the beach from the back deck. Landscaping needs to be trimmed down. Ac not great upstairs. Yellow bedroom is hot, even with fan. The 1st bedroom you reach at the top of the stairs is also hot. We did not like the aC system because we could not get colder than 73 because aC was apparently fixed and was not allowed to get colder than 73. One in our party had asthma problems, and this was a problem.
Also blinds were broken in small family room and had to hang a beach towel to cover the space so as not to interfere with the turtles. Cleaning crew should be instructed to leave all shades closed when they leave. We first entered the house and it was so hot, and all of the blinds were open and all of the curtains. We had to keep all closed to keep the house as cool as we wanted.
Very Nice House on Ocean

Location in Palmetto Dunes was fantastic and the oceanfront location was great. Main entertainment areas were clean and well decorated. Pool area and access to the beach was great and made our vacation. Kitchen was a bit smaller than we have had renting other homes in Hilton Head but was more than adequate.
Worst part of experience is some of the guards at Palmetto Dunes Plantation who take their job way too seriously at the main gate. The Plantation itself is beautiful to walk, run or bike through and is one of our favorite places to stay on Hilton Head Island.

We have been coming to Hilton Head since 1986. We have always rented condos beachside. 2007 we planned our 40 wedding celebration and selected 9 Galleon. Our two married daughters, best friend and his wife, and another couple stayed there and it was great. We also had evenings gatherings of about 50 additional friends that came to hilton head to help us celebrate. Pool, beach, sun, fun and outings made that week like no other. Our friends and relatives also bought timeshares there because it was glorious and restful. We had room to entertain, cook, rest and eat. My grand-children have been asking when are we returning to the "beach". Parking was good because we had alot of cars and friends. They all feel that this was the best vacation that they have experienced. We love Hilton Head because we vacation there every year around the 4th of July. Sad to say that we will not be staying at 9 Galleon this year because we feel that was a once in a life time gift to my wife, family, and friends. Will I do it again? Yes, after I had a chance to save up for the rental cost....I highly reccomend this place for anyone that can afford a vacation of this kind......Great

The home is very nice and the view is great. However, the home is in need of some upkeeping and maybe some remodeling. When we arrived, there were some stains on the living area rug, the refrigerator needed some adjustment - the repair man came completely unannounced - the previous renters must have called them, the linen closet upstairs was missing a door, one of the toilets did not flush well and there seemed to be a few electrical problems. However, we did have a wonderful family reunion - the layout of the house is fine - it just needs to be better cared for.
