Was pleasantly surprised and happy to let loose and enjoy our family vacation the moment we arrived at Hilton Head. Sea Turtle staff was warm, friendly and accommodating.
Home has beautiful pool and wonderful sea cottage decor. It's location is ideal, as it's a quick walk to beach, as well as to Colligny Circle. Pool is relaxing despite street being a little busy next to it, but house is quaint and quiet...great separate private suite for parents or guests. Quiet street and 2 short blocks to gorgeous beach in great location. -

This beach cottage was the perfect location for a great week in Hilton Head (1 minutes to the beach and all the shops at Coligny).. The property itself was very clean and beautifully decorated in a beach theme. The seperate bedroom and bathroom are a great feature for added privacy!The pool area was wonderful.although we had some isssues with the pool heater they were quickly taken care of.. We would definately return to 15 Bittern again.

Love the pool, my parents loved the little pool house for privacy to stay in away from the rest of of us that stay up later. We stayed in this house before and after renovation. The work done was exaggerated if you take into account raising the rent from nearly 1500 to 3000 a week.
The main house is far too small for the outrageous doubling of price. The first time we stayed there were cockroaches that were over an inch and a half long. I still have the pictures! It was shocking and more than a little disturbing. We stayed again after the renovation and the cockroach problem was still a problem. Never again... At one time their website even had a notation on "Yes we know we have bugs"... Which seems like a rude way to tell people to quit calling about it but then again you would have to know what the office workers are like after they have your deposit...
The 'ladies' in the office were beyond rude. Each and every time we dealt with them they were this way. I can't image why the owner would allow this behavior to go on. We had problems with WiFi for over half our vacation but they were not interested in helping us get it on. They kept passing it off to someone else taking no responsibility for the problems. They were snarky and belittling.
We gave this two stars instead of one because the pool is very nice, as is the location.
For your information, I tried to upload pictures of the giant roaches and the outside of the house to show you how small it is but both times it said Internal Server Error. I will send pictures to anyone that wants to see them. -

We rented this home for a girls getaway. I have been vacationing on hhi for about 6 yrs and have rented many homes. This property has a great pool and awesome location. I would highly recommend this property.

The location of this home was just perfect! Only about a 3-5 minute walk to the beach, and half a block from Cologny Plaza which had all the restaurants, shops, and activities we wanted. The pool was great, in the sun almost the whole day, which was great for laying out after a day at the beach. The pool was a little too warm, but we were there close to the 4th of July. The inside of the house was nice, great size kitchen and living room, would like to have had at least another half bath in the main house, but other than that, it was great! I would stay here again and definitely recommend this house to my friends and family.

The pool area was great! The house is in an excellent location to beach access and Coligny Plaza is within walking distance. The only problem this house had was the cleanliness. We had to have the exterminator out twice during our stay. The rental agency was very prompt in sending them out.

Although Crane seemed very annoyed every time we talked to her, another lady who was working that week was wonderful. We had to speak to her on Sunday b/c Saturday night we had an invasion of bugs. My 7-month pregnant friend & her fiance had to sleep on the couches b/c the room had so many bugs. At one point one fell from the ceiling on their bed. There is no drywall on the exterior walls of the house, so there are holes big enough to see daylight through in between the walls & the support beams. So, they had an exterminator come out twice, b/c the first time didn't help.
The other downside was the house was filled with small, annoying problems that would take the owners little time, effort and money to fix, & yet hadn't been. The toilet in the main house wobbles, the toilet paper roll across is falling off the wall & doesn't hold the paper. The doorknob on the back door doesn't work properly. The toaster has no handles, which was interesting when trying to make bagels. The light switch in the kitchen is broken & you have to stick something in it to turn it on. The pool light wasn't working, which was really a bummer! The dryer is basically useless. It takes forever to dry something & all the hot air is being pushed into the house. The side patio area with the tiki bar and table is useless. There were mounds of garbage from the last renters sitting there for the first 3 days, the table & chairs were incredibly dirty. It could be such a neat area if they put a little bit of money into it. Some string lights & a retractable awning or something would make that area worth spending time in.
The house is in a wonderful location. So close to the beach & a really neat little plaza with everything you need for the week. There's really no need to drive anywhere. The pool is wonderful! The beach house room is really nice. The only thing it could use is a window, b/c the air got really muggy & thick in there.Response from Sea Turtle Getaways Inc - 06/18/2010

This house is in a perfect location, especially in the less crowded times. Very convenient to Coligny and the beach. Sea Turtle Getaways was great to work with...easy check in/out and always prompt to respond to any questions we had.
The house is a beach cottage, with a little updating on the furnishings. Everything is certainly adequate, but not luxurious by any means. So knowing that going in, it's is great for what it is. The guest house is by far the nicest part of the house...we actually all used that shower rather than the main bath. I think that if the owners put $1000 into a few areas, they would rent this house much more frequently and the guests would be more comfortable: just removing wallpaper and updating with fresh paint would give it a fresher, more updated appearance; slipcovers on the couches (they're very comfortable), and all new linens and bedspreads on the beds would make a huge difference. I would also invest in a new mattress in the "master." Also, dump the existing furniture on the side of the house and get a nice new dining table and chairs for six or eight so people can eat outside.
Don't mean to sound negative, as we definitely had a positive experience and would consider renting this house again...but sometimes owners would benefit from some constructive criticism in order to rent their home more frequently.

Sea Turtles handled the booking. Everything was perfect including a minor complaint I had.
Location of house was perfect for us. Very close to Coligny and beach. Is on the road but road noise is negligible. House was superb due to pool and granny flat. Would say that house needs a fresh coat of paint and some wallpaper was peeling, but other than that house was great. Did have a cockroach problem (locals kindly call them Palmetto bugs!) which is usual for this climate I'm told - not sure about that but that's what i was told.

We had three couples stay at this house in early May. We came to Hilton Head for a wedding and made it into a week vacation. This house was great. We spent a lot of time just relaxing around the pool. The pool was great and the sun was out around 10 AM through the day. It is located very close to Coligny Plaza where there is food, bars, and lots of shopping. It is also very close to the beach. It is about a 1 minute walk and you are at the water. We cooked most of our meals on the grill and in the kitchen. My wife and I stayed in the pool house and it was very nice. I would recommend this house to a friend.

House was even closer to the beach than expected AND it was in walking distance to shops & restraunts. Our kids loved the private pool & the adults loved having separate quarters for some time apart. Sea Turtle Getaways, Inc. was very easy to deal with and they were very responsive to any and all questions and needs presented. We are definitely coming back. Thank you for a wonderful family vacation!

We had a great time during our stay, but did have several issues with the cleanliness of the house. Also, the air conditioning shut down on us... twice! We had drainage problems in the bath in the main house. We had to wait for HVAC people and the plumber, so that cut in to our vacation time. The guest house was nicely updated and our teenage girls loved having their own space. We very much enjoyed the pool area, but the tiki bar was unusable as it was filthy and being used as storage for garbage and home repair supplies. You may want to not highlight that in your advertising.
The proximity to the beach and Coligny is excellent. We would probably rent the house again for those reasons. I just know to pack some cleaning supplies!Response from Sea Turtle Getaways Inc - 01/29/2009

We stayed at 15 Bittern, last June of 08'. What a great location. It is located right across the street from Coligny Plaza. Great restaurants and shopping. The house itself, is an older home. It has a private pool house, where my husband and I stayed, it seemed to be more modern than the main house. It has a wonderful pool, which is a nice change from the beach. My sister and her husband stayed in the main house. It is nice enough. Could use a little remodeling. We did have problems with the A/C, however, the repairman came out quickly to check it out.
I would recommend this house to families, mainly for the location and proximity to the beach. Overall, we had a great visit, and Sea Turtle Getaways was very accomodating.Response from Sea Turtle Getaways Inc - 01/30/2009

We had a wonderful time and the house and the pool were great. Renting bikes and chairs was so easy before you go and they drop off and pick up. The house was a quick walk to the beach and if you forgot something you could quickly walk back. We usually spent the morning at the beach came home, spent time in the pool, and then had dinner. In the evening we went back to the beach to bike, play in the sand, and watch the sunset and finished the evening off by going to get ice cream. Lots of outdoor space with this house and the separate pool house was a great place for our teenage boys to hang!
