With views of this beautiful capital city and beyond to Mt Wellington, The Boat Shed offers modern, self contained accommodation for guests who wish to see the sights of southern Tasmania - or - just stay at home. Enjoy the peace with only the water lapping and hardly a sole to be seen. Walk along the beach, explore the natural reserve just 200m from this cottage. Of course, full breakfast provisions are are also included daily with home made bread and preserves, cereals, fresh fruit, eggs and bacon, plunger coffee and tea. Spoil yourselves!

We have stayed at the Boat Shed for a number of years and we plan to return again next time we are in Tasmania, hopefully next year. There are a number of reasons why we have stayed here so many times. The first is Judy and allan make you feel so welcome and go out of their way to make your stay special. Secondly the Boat Shed is a beautiful place for a couple to stay surrounded by magnificent scenery – imagine waking up to see the sunrise over the bay with Mount Wellington in the distance – breath taking.
The first thing you notice when you arrive is how well Judy has prepared the cottage. The fridge and cupboards are groaning with provisions to make your stay more comfortable. Although the cottage is compact it contains everything you could need for a relaxing holiday. There is even a BBQ if you require it although sometimes when the wind is in the wrong direction this can be quite challenging ?
It’s also worth mentioning the other occupants that you might meet particularly Fraser, Barney and Tilly who may come and sniff around to see who’s around. Fraser is a very friendly pooch but it’s fair to say he is not always the brightest of the bunch but he will happily play fetch (normally a whole tree!) for hours.
Overall this is a great place to stay and although you can see Hobart from the deck it feels like you are a million miles away. Even so central Hobart is an easy 15-20 minute drive but there is plenty nearby to keep anyone occupied. Opossum Bay is a great place for a picnic and you won’t find it any guide books so it is generally quiet.
