Description from the owner
His name in the Tsonga language simply means "Great Bull". Kambaku inspired enduring respect and reverence among everybody who saw this Elephant bull.
The chalet that bears his name is the largest of the three chalets at Indlovu River Lodge, sleeping nine people in three double rooms on the ground floor, and one further double and a single on the first floor. The rooms are spacious, air-conditioned and decorated to reflect the rich textures and colors of Africa.
Traversing over the 9000 hectares of supreme African bush, Kambaku is home to the Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Elephant and Buffalo) as well as a wealth of other creatu...Read more

The service was excellent - from point of booking to departure. We got prompt notification and confirmation as to the status of our reservation with a warm reception at the lodge after the long drive and ample assistance and guidance on departure. The Kambaku setting is magnificent, right on the banks of the Kubjename river with beautiful big evergreen trees, with wooden deck underneath overlooking the river bed and right next to the swimming pool. There is a big boma where the family enjoyed evenings around the campfire listening to the african nightlife - jackal, owls and lions in the distance. The lodge is well-equipped for self-catering with all the big-city luxuries that we could think of. The en-suite bedrooms works great for a group. It is clear that the reserve is well managed and the game drives were wonderful adventurous occasions where we saw a wide range of animals despite this being a big-five reserve with elephants and lions at play! We even got the opportunity to walk with two cheetahs for a short while on their hunt.

It's hard to find something that was not perfect except the water in the shower that was hot enough (but we were a lot in the cottage to have showers & bath at the same time!). That was just a detail, easilly sorted out by a plumber.
Everything was amazing: warm welcome, fantastic location, gorgeous bathrooms, huge master bedroom, nice decoration high quality of the fabrics, perfect pool and braai areas, wonderful view... I loved it! -

The lodge is simply gorgeous, big, well furnished (beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms), with very charming taste, the pool in the garden facing the river is great. Both children and parents love it. It is self catering with possibility of ordering food per email - very easy! - (and you'll find it in your fridge, at your arrival!) with a big dining room and a great fireplace outdoor. Two very kind guides are with you twice a day for the game drive and you can see all the animals. My daughters were fascinated! The atmosphere, both early in the morning than late in the evening on the way home, is simply great and fantastic. A sky so full of stars that I will never forget...
We have great memories of such a beautiful stay! (sorry for my Italian English!) -

This was not our first visit to Kambaku - we absolutely love it there! To sit on the deck overlooking the river, you will not only find peace and quietness, but also smell, hear and experience the bush. The lovely boma for long evenings around the fire and the gamedrives makes it all the more special. Really a lovely, family friendly place with wonderful atmosphere!
