I have recently returned from a perfect trip to L.A and chose to stay in the Hollywood area. The location is perfect, a short walk or bus trip to Hollywood Blvd and within touching distance of the Hollywood sign. A local supermarket is a 2 minute walk which was also very handy. Eda was very accommodating and was more than willing to help us with anything we needed, a lovely person. I wish I could go back tomorrow and would realistically love to stay here again in the not too distant future.

I searched for some time for the perfect place in the perfect area of Los angeles close to my elderly uncle. I all ready knew about Beachwood Canyon and loved the area. This apartment fit the bill on all counts. Beautifully decorated. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The bedroom is large and has two closets! Kitchen with full sized frig and stove. Private patio with table a chairs plus a comfortable chair to relax in and read under an umbrella. The neighborhood is beautiful with a grocery store, restaurant and small antique store only blocks away. We could have stayed there for a long time and been very comfortable. Eda even stocked the kitchen with many of the essentials and treats. She thought of everything to make it a lovely stay and was more than accommodating when the tenants upstairs was a bit too noisy taking care of it immediately and all was quiet from that point forward. We will absolutely stay again!

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. When we entered the private porch we were already impressed. And when we entered to apartment we were very impressed. I am a clean freak, and everything was spotless. From the kitchen to the bathroom. This location is close to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, Pink's Hot Dogs, The Hollywood Sign, Hollywood Blvd., Universal Studios, and actually just about anything you could want to see in L.A. There was a washer and dryer and a personal parking spot, which was very convenient. Eda and her colleague were very friendly and helpful. If you are visiting L.A., skip the hotels and book here! You will not regret it!

We had an extended stay at this one bedroom furnished apartment a year and a half ago, but we have come back to stay several times since then. The apartment is close to everything and located in a lovely little "community" on the street that leads to the Hollywood sign. Great market nearby; little cafe; cleaners. But the place itself is what sells it. The owner has furnished it with the absolute best of everything -- best quality bedding, a kitchen better outfitted than my own at home; terrific flat screen TVs in bedroom and living room; a lovely little patio in front where you can have your coffee in the warm LA mornings. We will come back again and again. I wouldn't even consider staying at a hotel unless this place is booked by someone else!!

My stay in this cottage was fabulous! Everything one would need was provided including groceries to begin my stay. I thoroughly enjoyed the comfortably decorated living room and bedroom. The sunny patio was a great place for my morning coffee. I could not have been more pleased with my stay and would highly recommend the property and Eda the wonderful owner.

Visiting LA, we were looking for a home away from home ? a place that would be a vacation in itself ? and this was perfect. The pictures online looked great, the comments of other guests were very encouraging, but the reality was even better than we?d hoped ? attractive and comfortable, with vases of fresh flowers in every room (even the lovely bathroom). The patio and lounge chair are as appealing as they look ? a great place to relax, read and dine. The living room and bedroom are spacious, the decor warm and appealing, and every room has windows you can open to the breezes and scent of flowers. Lots of handy storage places let you unpack and feel at home. Eda hospitably stocks some basic groceries before you arrive ? after asking your preferences! ? and the kitchen is so nicely supplied with staples and great cooking gear that you?ll actually want to stay in and cook sometimes, despite tempting restaurants nearby. I found the neighborhood a delightfully interesting place for walks and convenient grocery shopping. If I thought we could return often, I?d be a little reluctant to promote competition for renting the Patio Retreat . . . but since we can?t, I?d recommend it to anyone lucky enough to be heading to LA.

When I arrived I couldn't believe the utterly charming neighborhood characteristics. Quiet, yet so near to all the wonderful advantages of glamorous Hollywood.
Because the stay was so inexpensive, I had plenty of vacation money to rent a car and shop at nearby boutiques and stores which populate the "new" Hollywood. Loved every minute of it.
And would certainly recommend the Beachwood Canyon Retreat to anyone who's looking for beauty as well as peace.Response from Eda Hallinan - 05/25/2009

Wonderful Cottage in Hollywood

Thank you again for making our stay such a great experience. Your
"cottage" is perfect. Everything we needed was there. We really
appreciated all of the extra touches which made it feel like home. It
was especially nice to have groceries to get us started since we were
arriving late from a flight. Having the broadband access, two flat
screen tvs, ipod charger, etc. made things easy and pleasant. The
laundry area was wonderful. One of the things we really enjoyed was
the lovely, private patio with the nice table and lounge chair. We ate
outside often and took advantage of the great weather. The flowers
were beautiful. The market and small restaurant within easy walking
distance were most handy. And of course, it was great being just
below the famous Hollywood sign. We will recommend your place to all
of our friends and colleagues who may be coming to the Los
Angeles/Hollywood area. -

I have stayed here twice and look forward to returning this summer. Eda is wonderfully hospitable and really cares about your comfort. As far as the unit itself, I found it actually exceeded my expectations and was a pleasure to return to after busy days. It has all of the comforts, and if anything, is actually nicer and delivers more than I hoped. I am a fairly particular traveler and I was very pleased.
