It was the first visit to Anna Maria Island since I was a child. We really enjoyed the island. The pool was absolutely fabulous and the short walks to the beach were so nice! We were a little disappointed in the condition of the floors of the house and doors; along with the screen porch (mildewed and rust spots, peeling paint)(berber carpet in an outdoor porch??). We also looked into the rental of 105 Mangrove for 2011 and learned the price had increased nearly $1000 per week! We've rented several houses in Florida, but unfortunately this one was found lacking in appointments. The head board in the master bedroom is not even attached to the bed frame.

We enjoyed the house and it's close proximity to the beach (one house away). However, we rented it mostly for the heated pool which did not heat the first 21 days. Granted January was cold, but eventually we convinced pool maintenance that it needed to be looked into further. Turned out there was a failed capacitor. Once that was replaced, the pool heated to 83 degrees within 24 hours. We used the pool often in the next 9 days, then a small hose broke. By then it was cold again (which meant the heat pump for the pool wouldn't even try to heat the water); then we moved out Feb. 1. Island did refund $240 which we appreciated, but the loss of so many days use of the pool stung.

This was our first trip to Anna Maria after sampling many other Gulf Coast Islands from Tampa south. Loved it. Mangrove cottage was a perfect location, steps from the beach and walking distance to village restaurants and shops. Pool area is very private and nice for washing off the salt from the ocean.
Would highly recommend and will book Mangrove again. -

I have been vacationing on Anna Maria Island since 1987 and have stayed in house rentals in Bradenton Beach, hotel rentals in Holmes Beach and cottage rentals in Anna Maria. My main reason for choosing this house was the private pool and its location. The house was for sale at the time but has since been sold. I had some issues with the front porch carpet being moldy, bathroom ceiling fans and the bathroom floors being filthy (stood on a towel after shower) but these things could be taken care of by just a thorough cleaning and some updating, which I hope the new owner will take care of. The bedrooms were outdated and could use a fresh coat of paint, new beds linens and a little bit of island art to liven up the rooms. The kitchen was well stocked with the usual utensils, pans, etc. but there was no toaster only an antique toaster oven that did not work very well. The pool area was great but just need a little cleaning up around the foliage next to the house. Maybe a fresh coat of paint on the house might also do it some good. The guests from the cottages next door could get a little noisy but they were just enjoying themselves. All in all a good place to stay. I will stay here again as I love this island and its people.

If you are looking for a quiet area close to the most gorgeous beach this is the place. My husband and I stayed here in August 2009 and loved having the beautifully landscaped pool and beach at our disposal. The house was not fancy but it met our needs. We appreciated having two bathrooms and a full kitchen.

The house was nice. 100 yards to the beach. Pool was wonderful. Kind of annoying that they showed the house to a prospective buyer while we were there. We rented a golf cart from Beach Bum Billy's and had a great time cruising around looking at all the available real estate.

Only problems we had was that there was not a toaster, there were paint stains on the floor, the grill was broke but functional, and the king size bed was help up with bricks and the head board was not attached. It was a great location and the private pool made up for it.

We visited Anna Maria on a rainy weekend, but found the charm irresistable of this quaint little island. The outdoor screened area was a great escape from the indoors even in the rain! It was great being so close to the beach and we found this home clean with all of the necessities. We can't wait to come back!

This was a great location. Complete with a lot of ammenities Close to shopping, fishing piers and a short distance to the beautiful white sands.
