Rolleshayes - a most beautiful, well-loved and welcoming place t

Left on 05/09/2011 for a stay in June 2010

I can't remember how we first found Rolleshayes, some years ago now, but I'm so glad we did. We've been lucky enouigh to have visited this beautiful house several times now and it is a real family favourite - it's always the holiday that the children remember and want to repeat over and over again. It's a big house, so provides ample space for every one and having two lovely sitting rooms means that anyone seeking some peace and quiet can always find it. But although there is plenty of space, it always somehow feels very cosy. The bedrooms are all big and the beds extremely comfortable, so a good night's sleep is assured. As for the gardens, well I'm not sure where to start. There are so many diverse and beautiful areas all beautifully and lovingly cared for and a summerhouse too. Every time we go, there seems to be yet more beautiful plants to admire. I have to also pay tribute to Jean, who looks after the house for Jenny and keeps it immaculately clean. She is so very welcoming too, it's like seeing an old friend again and is always very happy for the children to watch the milking at the farm just up the lane. Just writing this is making want to go back again! If you are thinking of booking, please do, you won't regret it for a moment and like us, you will return for sure!

      Truly a ome from home

Left on 05/08/2011 for a stay in December 2009

We have stayed at Rolleshayes on several occasions having fallen in love with it on our first visit. We have found that it isn't just a holiday cottage, it's somewhere where you can really feel at home. It's well equipped - on all of our stays we have never found that it lacked anything we needed - and with its garden, two lounges and well spread out bedoroms it's perfect for both adults and children. We have spent magical Christmas vacations at Rolleshayes and are looking forward to visiting one summer with friends. It's located in a beautiful area of the country with good walks and a variety of local amenities within easy reach.

Well-equipped, comfortable and characterful home in peaceful sur

Left on 05/08/2011 for a stay in April 2011

Our extended family gathering (couple with 3 teenagers and a granny, and another granny visiting during the days) loved the beautiful setting (19 year old loved it so much now uses photo of the picturesque house on her computer as screensaver!) and was just in time to catch the bluebells in the nearby lanes and on Dumpton Hill. The house is relatively remote, despite short distance from Honiton, and apart from local walks one is dependent on a car. Garden is large and lovely, with patio table for meals and decking outside the summer-house (though a family with younger children might find there is not much space suitable for ball games etc ). The table tennis table is good quality and well situated and was much enjoyed.

The house is very fully equipped (the kitchen permits serious cooking and baking) and very comfortable, too - it was a real pleasure to enjoy all that it had to offer. Two sitting rooms, a good dining room and a decent, adequately lit desk were all useful for the needs of a large and varied group . The piano is well-maintained and eminently playable. There is an incoming-only phone and very poor mobile signal (but a better one can be obtained from a mile or so down the road towards Honiton.)

The owner was very kind and helpful, dealing patiently with queries around the mobility needs of one member of our party. Her housekeeper was helpful and provided a warm welcome.

We are regular visitors to the Honiton area and would certainly hope to stay in Rolleshayes Farmhouse once again. It would be our destination of choice in that area whenever we had a sufficiently large group to benefit from it.

      Wonderful Holiday Cottage

Left on 05/06/2011 for a stay in December 2010

A quiet and relaxing area in the Devonshire countryside. Accommodation best we have ever stayed in. Have spent 3 fantastic holidays with my family and hope to return again one day. Fully equipped and ready to move in like home from home. Beautiful gardens. I have recommended it to several people. A car is definitely needed.

Amazing Farmhouse, keep returning time after time!!

Left on 05/03/2011 for a stay in October 2009

We have stayed at Rolleshayes 4 times over the years and absolutely love the place. The location is peaceful and quiet and is perfect for relaxing and forgetting about the stresses of daily life. There are lots of walks around the lanes or you can climb up and walk around Dumpton Hill, all are on your doorstep. Or if you get in the car, you will get to various seaside towns in half an hour, so a real mixture of places to see.
We have stayed here as a group of adults and as time has gone on with our children too and the accomodation lends itself brilliantly to either with 2 lounges and a really large kitchen and dining room which open out onto one another. There is enough room for everyone to enjoy themselves without ever being cramped. The open fire was lovely in the Winter and the garden which surrounds the farmhouse was a must in the spring and summer months. The children loved running around and playing in it in complete safety.
Honiton itself has a good size Tesco store so we were always well stocked for provisions. There are also a number of pubs and take aways so if you feel like a night off, there is plenty to choose from.
We will keep coming back to this lovely home time after time.

Fantastic Farmhouse - Excellent Standard and Stunning Views

Left on 05/03/2011 for a stay in February 2011

We booked Rolleshayes Farmhouse after stumbling across it - What a find!!

We booked it for February 2011 for a week. In our party was 6 adults, 1 child and a 4 month old, plus our dog Dukey the Dobermann!! Plus we had family visitors over.

The Farmhouse was more than big enough to go and lose yourself when others were invading your space if you know what i mean!!! The accomodation is fantastic - every item you require is available to you.

The Farmhouse is located, near to Honiton, on Dumpdon Hill. You definately need a car to access the Farmhouse as it is isolated - this by the way is the reason why we booked it and we absolutely loved it. We have already booked the Farmhouse for our return visit!!!

The grounds are large and more than accomodated our needs. We were able to let Dukey run around the grounds with now worries about him escaping or worrying livestock.

There are loads of activities in the area to do from Walking, Running, Horse Riding, Shopping in Honiton or Exeter, Loads of beautiful beaches near by.

Basically you need to book it and go see it for yourself - You will not be disappointed!!!

Lovely setting for a friends and family week!

Left on 05/02/2011 for a stay in April 2011

We hired the house for a week to celebrate a 50th birthday and during the week had a mixture of family and friends to stay.
Everyone loved the house - especially the large lounge which became our "evening lounge".
The large dining room table easily held ten people which was just as well as we needed this!
The summer house proved a "hit" in the afternoons and evenings - having a drink whilst watching the sun set - excellent!.
Highly recommend this house and we would return.

      Excellent large thatched farm house

Left on 04/30/2011 for a stay in April 2010

My 2 mature friends & I like a bit of peace & luxury for a few days each year away from husbands & family. We have found Rolleshayes to be the perfect place and have been there several times. It more than accommodates our needs in all respects. It is a spacious, well equipped, traditional thatched farmhouse with all modern conveniences, quiet spacious gardens, pretty scenery and it is in an ideal location for sight seeing. Transport is essential.
The owner is fast & efficient with the booking system and is most approachable generally.
      We thoroughly recommend this property.

Wonderful second visit at peaceful farmhouse

Left on 04/30/2011 for a stay in April 2011

This is our second visit to Rolleshayes. It is in a very peaceful locaiton on a hillside in the Blackdown Hills. There is lots of indoor and outdoor space, which makes it ideal for a family with teenagers and a large dog.

The garden is large with a number of separate and secure areas. A walk up the hill will take you to the National Trust area at the top of Dumpdon Hill. This is beautiful climb as well as to walk around. We did this each day with our dog and our teenage boys even enjoyed coming too. The views from the hill are fabulous as are the views from the property.

We loved the kitchen and two lounge areas. The master bedroom is spacious and bright with views across the countryside. We enjoyed playing the games in the evening plus sitting outside in the lovely sunshine.

Honiton is a short drive away with a good supermarket.

It is a brilliant place to go if you want to relax and chill-out.

      A perfect holiday!

Left on 04/30/2011 for a stay in September 2010

We have stayed at Rolleshayes twice and I would highly recommend it. It is a fabulous place to stay and relax while exploring Devon - quite remote - but that's which we loved it. You can walk out of the door onto wonderful countryside or climb in the car and be at the beach within 25 minutes.
