Description from the manager

The Waikiki Banyan is a very popular, moderately priced family resort only 1 block to Waikiki Beach, Kapiolani Park and Honolulu Zoo. There are fantastic amenities at the Banyan: a huge swimming pool, 2 Jacuzzis, tennis courts, basketball courts, a playground, coin-operated BBQs, a putting green for the golfers and even a fitness area for the athletic. There is also a small snack shop for a quick bite to eat while you enjoy all these vast amenities! There are laundry facilities on each floor, a convenience store in the lobby, along with a great little coffee shop and Internet cafe all in Tower #1 on the ground floor. The Bus stop is also di...Read more

      Home Away

Left on 05/11/2013 for a stay in May 2013

As a serial renter with HPR, I always find there properties exactly what we like. This last rental was no exception. Checking in and out is simple, the property has all the things needed for our stay and everything works. The agents handling the property are professional and very helpful. Definitely will rent again.

      Great place to stay

Left on 04/25/2013 for a stay in April 2013

The location was good for walking to most things we wanted to do and just a couple of blocks from the beach. Lots of places to eat within walking distance. The one thing I wish this condo had was a bedroom and living room ceiling fan. If it had we probably wouldn't have had to run the air conditioner at all. Overall very good condo that suited our needs well. We would stay here again.

      OK for the Price

Left on 03/29/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We paid $130 per night for a one bedroom condo with a kitchen, which was a great price for Waikiki. The furnishings were cheap looking & dated, the sliding door dividing the bedroom & bathroom was off-track & hard to close and there was evidence of water leakage on the ceiling. We found out why the 3rd night when water began pouring through the bathroom light fixture from the condo above. Hawaiian Paradise Retreats was fast and efficient about getting someone in to fix it right away. All in all it was an ok stay but next time I'd pay more for a ritzier property closer to the beach.

      Banyan 1507

Left on 01/25/2013 for a stay in January 2013

Overall this was a great place, only a few minor cosmetic issues such as the wood molding that isn't tacked down and my 15 month old could lift up. The back of the fold up bed is disgusting, looks like no one has been back there in years. Couple problems with the property management and when I called, the person I spoke to made it seem like it was my problem, such as not having the port-a-crib that I paid for not there. Nice location for Waikiki beach, we walked everywhere! Kitchen is great if you don't want to go out, grocery store is only a few blocks away.

      Birthday Getaway

Left on 12/01/2012 for a stay in November 2012

The Banyan was in a good location, just a block and a half away from the Beach, shoping and places to eat.We stayed on the 15th floor, just far enough from the traffic noise with a Beautiful view. The room was just the right size for the two of us with room for the kids if we brought them. The Lani was perfect place for our morning coffee. Booking and check in was the easyist I have ever had, Just be ready for the one way streets when you arrive, even with directions your tired after the flight if you land after dinner. All in All I would stay here again, and I would recomend this place to my friends also. We are planing to go back in 6 months already. Mahalo

Dirty floors, refrig inoperable, no exhst cook & AC not up to pa

Left on 11/07/2012 for a stay in November 2012

Safety was issue, tsunomi warning wasn't provided to tenants! No directions! Floors were filthy needing mopping, frig was old, small and DIDNT work, prop mgmt brought ice to put in it-so we had to keep the ice in it to keep it working!!! It never worked. The stove had no fan for cooking, smoke alrm hard wired went off and kept going for 1.5 hrs, so much for a nice romantic steak dinner!! The AC didn't work but made is set for "68" but it never got below 75! WE will stay at the same location but not at this condo, it needs attention for maintenance...bdrm windows mechanisms are some broke as tho someone tried to break in, there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom to let out steam.

      Rent At Your Own Risk

Left on 07/10/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We love Honolulu but we were very disappointed with the condo. At first glance when walking into the room you think, okay, this place is fine it's just very dated. It's later that you discover the tub doesn't drain, the bathroom sink doesn't drain, there was a hole in the bathroom ceiling that cockroaches were crawling through, the bathroom fan didn't work, there was one window that never completely closed and was about ready to fall out. Because of all the problems we saw, there was no way we were going to sleep under the bed covers. You would think they could take some of the money they bring in and repair this unit to an acceptable level. Also we never were greeted by the property management people upon arrival and the only time we heard from them was the night before we were ready to leave. At that time they reminded us that we needed to be gone by 11:00 a.m. "but it would be nice if we could be gone sooner" so the cleaning crew could come in. We were really disappointed with this unit and the management. We would NOT recommend this unit to anyone.

      Waikiki Banyan

Left on 04/16/2012 for a stay in April 2012

this property is perfectly located for Waikiki, the Zoo, acquarium.
The water was turned off the day after we arrived for 7 hrs. It turned out not to be a problem because we were gone all day. It was not just our unit, it was 1/2 of tower 2.
We had four people staying in our unit. Two in the bedroom and 2 on the Murphy bed. The sliding wall between the two was off the track so there was a lack of privacy. Also the tub was a slow drain leaving it quite dirty after each use. Over all it worked out fine for us and we would stay in the bldg again maybe try another unit

      Needs upgrade

Left on 01/26/2012 for a stay in January 2012

Both sink and tub in bathroom drained slow. Complained and they responded quickly leaving a jug on draino and a note to hold down on the drain in the tub. Hard to shower and hold drain stopper down at the same time. No one to check us in or out only a code on the door.Have not received the damage deposit as of this writing. Need for a inventory and a book to tell what is supplied and where to find things. The experience in a vacation condo was the first and probably the last.

Great location and quiet, a very short walk to the beach. Extra towels for bath & beach would add to the comfort. Firmer beds would be a niv Ce addition.

Left on 05/24/2011 for a stay in May 2011

This was our first time using VRBO, the check-in, check-out process was easy, the location of this property was perfect for our stay. Close to the Waikiki strip to walk and close enough to get to the freeways with ease. The unit was beautiful and clean. No problems at all with anything. Having the free parking and internet were also very nice perks

Left on 05/20/2011 for a stay in April 2011

2000 characters won't do it. Walked in towel hook fell on floor, faucet wobbling, towels stained, sheets stained with oil, no extras. Called. Sorry, send someone over. 2nd day nothing. 3rd day took early morning walk, found 1 set of keys didn't fit lock. Waited in lobby 3 hours, no callback, paid locksmith $65. Called, oh sorry will send over keys. Man came, fixed towel holder & sink, gave us right keys. No followup call. Called, can I get my $65 back? Sure, give you a free night. No checkout instructions (who knows). 3 calls, 2emails, no credit, no reply. Finally talked to someone who'd get back to me. Said credit would come in 3 days. Came and was less than promised. No, this wasn't a good experience. Nice room, lousy management. Too busy to help you.

Left on 05/08/2011 for a stay in April 2011

We stayed at the Banyan as we were referred from some of our friends and thought to try a condo this time around. Unfortunately, the unit was not up to standards. The master bedroom's bed was broken, so half of the bed slanted to the floor. There were no dishclothes, toilet paper, baking sheets for the oven. The place was not entirely clean at c/i. Overall, a very dissatisfying stay. The complex otherwise was great!

      The Banyan #1507 - decent for the price ($100/night). Wouldn't p

Left on 03/30/2011 for a stay in March 2011

The price & location made it a satisfactory option.
The property's condition was disappointing. The floors had food crumbs in the corner, the bed sheet had a few short blond hairs, the bed sheets were rough & old & the elastic had worn out so the sheets always came off the bed at night (a real pain), the lamps shades were worn & tattered, the bathroom dark, bathroom faucet handle loose/leaked a little water; took 20 minutes & 4 phone calls to reach someone upon arrival to get the entry code, & the person sounded a bit intoxicated (evening arrival); no instructions on how to use the internet (wireless passwords?); upon arrival a pest extermination notification had been slid under the door (indicating exterminators come at 10am-but didn't indicate date, figured out later it must have been an old notification). Overall, wasn't a comfortable, clean feeling unit, but it did the job of a roof over your head and a bed to sleep in. Tried not to spend too much time hanging around in the room. Probably wouldn't stay here again. Other unit in the build are newer for the same price.

Left on 05/17/2008 for a stay in April 2008

Property condition was not nearly up to par.Electric panel was exposed and rusted out. Bedroom sliding doors were all off track. I hung and leveled off all 4 of them(they could use new hinges and tracks!). Television had no signal or cable that it claimed. Owner had to come install after we got there. The phone did not work the entire time we were there(Figured out it was actually the phone itself, not the phone line. It was not replaced while we were there). I had to install the DSL modem after it was delivered(Left on the table), once again after we had already arrived. Owner was REALY hard to contact(would have to leave message for them to call back)usually didnt answer the phone. These calls to the owner had to be made by my cell phone(coming from California i got 48$ in roaming charges just trying to call the owner about all the property conditions. These all should have been taking care of before we arrived! Not the issues you want on your vacation.

Left on 04/16/2008 for a stay in April 2008

We have been at the Banyan before, so we knew what to expect. Everything in the condo was fine, only comment I have, is the carpeting is getting old and tired, it should be cleaned better or replaced. We were also halppy with the amenities provided.
