Description from the manager
Here at our 8th floor 1 bedroom suite at the Ala Moana Hotel, you will experience island-style comfort in one of the most convenient locations in Honolulu.
Our unit features a well-stocked kitchenette, living room with sleeper sofa, and complete privacy between the bedroom and living areas. You can also enjoy ocean views from your private balcony and stay connected with complimentary Wireless Internet service.
While you have all the en-suite comforts you may need, you will probably find yourself spending very little time in your unit at the Ala Moana Hotel. Just outside the lobby door you have access to Ala Moana Shopping center,...Read more

I have stayed at ala Moana #807 with my wife and 2 kids for about a week. Trust me it's just a great place in a fantastic location. The only small problem was there was an ethernet connection for a laptop in the room but with tablets and smartphones I had to go down to lobby as there is no wifi access in the room. One more thing was the entry/exit glass doors on 2nd level connecting to the pathway to ala Moana Shopping Mall was not automatic so it was kind of annoying for us with baby strollers. I guess it would not be good for people with disabilities (This is nothing to do with #807). Otherwise it was perfect. Especially, the property management agent, Sheryll has given us a great hospitality that we cannot forget. Sheryll, you have made our stay even better! Thank you!
We are definitely going back to the same place or any place that the same management agent/company manages. -

Vancouver, BCAll in all...enjoyed our stay in 807...and our trip to Honolulu!

Bill and I found the condo to be well equipped, and clean...and comfortable...liked the hotel...staff were helpful and pleasant...pool area nice..lots of clean towels!!...and Hawaii 5-0 staff were great.
being near the shopping mall was great for us..and the many restaurants around allowed for a variety of choices..
loved being on the 8th floor...parking lot side too noisy for us...wouldn't do that again...pool side only!!''
felt the value for dollar would have been more than average...if the dishwasher was working..looking at competitive condos/prices in the hotel...this was a disappointment..
All in all...a good trip

This condo is exactly as shown in the photos and as described on the website. It was very clean (spotless), the ocean view from both the living room/kitchen area and the bedroom was great. The king size bed was comfortable and the balcony off the bedroom had a table and two chairs, which was great for sitting with a glass of wine and watching the sunset. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, pans, etc. There were extra towels and bedding. There is a laundry room on the both the 6th and 13th floor. Washers and dryers were in great shape. The trade winds blew every afternoon and we didn't really need the a/C. Bathroom was large and again, spotless. Location of condo is central and close to everything. Plus the ala Moana Shopping Center is right next door and everything you possibility need is at your fingertips and within walking distance. Parking cost is $20.00/day for self parking, valet is $25.00/day.
We only had two things: we never did find the DVD player, but also never took alot of time to look for it, and some college kids were having a party in the parking lot below us at the ala Moana Shoppng center at 2am one morning. However, it didn't last long as the police came and everyone went home in a few minutes. Great place for the price and we would stay again. -

Albuquerque, NMOk (barely) if you only stay for a short time.

When I have been in Honolulu, for the last 20+ years I have normally stayed at the ala Moana. All previous stays have been pleasant. Management, both of the hotel and the private management companies since converting to condos, have prompted me to stay on following visits due to their hospitality and professionalism. However, this was an exception - it was the worst stay ever.
Part of it was the room - it was a low-floor unit just above the mall parking lot. The parking lot was undergoing maintenance and there was constant noise from the jackhammers during the day. There was also a lot of noise from cars exiting the top level of the parking lot using the down ramp both day and night. Also, the room was low enough that we needed to keep the lanai doors closed due to noise from late night revelers. In addition, since it was a low floor unit, the view of Magic Island, Ala Moana Park and the sunsets were not very good.
My main dissatisfaction was with the property management agency.
My stay was for almost three weeks. After a week I inquired about a mid-stay cleaning and towel change and was informed that we could pay an additional cleaning fee or wash the laundry ourselves. When we ran out of toilet paper, I was informed that we needed to buy our own.
I will almost certainly stay at the ala Moana again. I will almost certainly not stay in any unit managed by Hawaii 5-0.Response from Hawaii 5-0 Vacation Rentals LLC - 12/27/2011

Thank you for your review, and we are sorry that your stay was less than satisfactory at the Ala Moana Hotel.
We do understand that there was parking construction during your stay. However this is completed, and no longer impacting the unit. We had not, prior to your commentary, ever had a complaint regarding other noise irritants to the unit.
As far as view, and location in the building, all of our pictures clearly show that you are not high, and our listing provides the exact unit images along with the exact floor. We mark our prices down appropriately for this unit due to that factor. Our other 1 bedroom units higher up are a bit more expensive.
In regard to the cleaning, we do offer self-serve condos. This is clearly outlined in our rental agreement, and there is in-room information on where the building laundry facilities are. We can, at an additional price offer mid-stay cleaning or towel changes. This is the main difference between booking with the hotel, and with a unit outside of the front desk rental program. It is also why we are able to offer rates close to $100/night less than if you went direct with the hotel.
Despite this, when we did get your complaint about the toilet paper we did promptly send one of cleaners to supply you with more.
Our units do provide an exceptional value compared to the front desk, and we have had several clients happily stay for a month or longer in the unit.
If you would like to try one of our higher floor suites on your next stay, we would be happy to offer you an additional 10% discount on your reservation.

We had a great stay. Very professionally run and brilliant response times. On doorstep of ala Moana Shopping Center. Close to everything else. Facilities great. Apartment great. Only downside is that the apartment needs a washing machine/dryer.Free and very reliable internet was excellent.

This was our 4th trip to Oahu and our first time staying at The ala Moana Hotel. We usually stay in Waikiki but as we spend most of our time at ala Moana Beach Park, Ala Moana Shopping Mall and the Mai Tai Bar, it only made sense to stay at this hotel.
We were very, very happy with the location. The room was spacious and met all our needs. The bed was comfortable, A/C appreciated and free cable internet useful. Having 2 fridges was handy and we filled them with lots of drinks and desserts. The view was lovely.
We can't wait to stay here again, as soon as possible :-)

We were told the resort fee would be waived but had to pay once arrived.Renter knew we had 2 children & we were bringing a airbed for one of them. When we arrived there was only 1 sheet & 1 blanket. No bedding provided & only 4 towels for 5 days with no laundry facilities.Room was cramped & resort staff were unhelpful considering we had to pay a daily resort fee.
Toilet was blocked & we had no toilet for a night & found it hard to find out who to contact.

We are sorry to receive this review for our unit, and will be happy to extend an additional discounted offer to the client if they ever wanted to stay in the building again. We manage several wonderful units with stellar reviews. There are however a few inaccuracies in the review.
In all correspondences with the client, we agreed to discount the rent paid to us by the $40 hotel reservation fee, which we did do upon booking the reservation. The resort fee was never waived.
After receiving similar reviews regarding cleaning, we have since hired a different cleaning company, which stocks all of our units with the appropriate amount of towels and sheets to accommodate the maximum number of guests allowed in the unit. We appreciate the reviews that helped us make the decision to do so.
Finally, all units now have fliers that address emergency contact information in case of issues with plumbing like noted above. This client did call our maintenance crew as indicated because the clog happened late at night. The issue was resolved the next morning.
We appreciate all reviews, good or bad, as they only help us serve you better.
