      mostly positive

I did have a little hitch with the parking situation in that the rental company let another one of their tenants use the spot that I was suppose to use. However, they did get me another parking spot, so all ended well.

      Great for the price!

Left on 03/10/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Overall, the experience was good. The location was in perfect walking distance from anything we wanted and so close to the beach! The room itself was a little dated with a tiny TV but still clean and for the price, we didn't mind picking up after ourselves.

Great price but you get what you pay for

Left on 01/26/2013 for a stay in September 2012

It was a great price but you do get what you pay for. We arrived at the airport and wanted to visit the annual Okinawan festival before checking in. We were told that it would be fine and a key would be waiting for us. After a long day we just wanted to shower and rest but come to find there was no key.... We called the staff and after about 30-40 minutes we were able to get in. Typically it would be fine but it wasn't a great way to start a vacation especially when you're tired. WORST PART ABOUT THIS COMPLEX.... THE SMELL. It smelled like cigarette smoke. We tried to air out the place but it was an everlasting stench which was hard for us to deal with since we are non-smokers.
THE GOOD: GREAT location!!!! The staff was also really nice and tried to be accommodating.

      Aqua Palms 1020

Left on 11/09/2012 for a stay in November 2012

The room was great, had what we needed (A bed and a bathroom). There were a few downsides to this place, while we paid the cleaning fee for our reservation, we were told that we had to do the dishes and take out the trash ourselves or we would not get our security deposit back, what was the point of the cleaning fee?! Also, Gloria, a rep from Hawaiian Paradise Retreats, was extremely rude, unprofessional and difficult to work with. Actually, it was a hassle to get a hold of anyone that worked at Hawaiian Paradise. If booking through them, try to avoid Gloria at all costs. Overall, the room was great, but the staff was horrible. If the room was through another company I would go to them for my next trip, but because of my experience with them, I don't think I will be using their services again.

      Our first trip to Hawaii

Left on 11/06/2012 for a stay in September 2012

My wife and I travelled from Oslo, Norway to Hawaii for the first time and stayed in this apartment. We were lucky enough to have family pick us up at the airport and drive us to the property, so we didn't have to think about how we were going to get there. But after almost 30 hours of travelling it was like a slice of heaven being able to lay down in the big comfortable bed. Then waking up to the stunning views of the sea and towards Waikiki and Diamond Head in the morning was just a dream come true for us. To cut a long story short, our first trip to Hawaii was most definately memorable, and the apartment was everything we needed. The pictures didn't do the place justice.
I wish they would do something about the kitchen, as you have to wash the dishes in the bathroom.

Great location. Close to restaurants and beach. Condo had great pool which retained heat so water was warm. However, condo room had a heavy musky smell. Had to open balcony door for fresh air. Lots of decorative items had layers of dust. Staff did not replenish toilet paper or towels.

      No better location

Left on 08/09/2012 for a stay in August 2012

The location was great! Only 5 minutes walk to the beach and Waikiki restaurants and bars and on a major road that takes you a quick drive out of Waikiki, the Palms location cannot be beat. The staff was professional and the room very clean.

      Excellent price and location!

Left on 06/13/2012 for a stay in June 2012

To start off with we must say we reserved this accommodation using Vacation Rental by Owner. We have found accommodation before with this online service and found them to be very accurate. There were some things which were extremely accurate and other which surprised us. First the surprises. When we contacted the agency we dealt with multiple employees both by email and phone. Secondly, we were informed in writing that we would be met at the unit. This didn't happen and to further complicate this the keys we were given by the front desk didn't work. This doesn't sound like a big deal but when you have been traveling for 12 hours it is. It would have been helpful to have had an information sheet which pertained to room 1020 which could have included information on trash disposal, instruction on how to use the safe, how to get telephone messages and which reserved parking stall to use. The photos of the unit were accurate and this had advantages and disadvantages. Having a couch instead of a second bed was great. The unit had lots of rattan extras as shown in the photos and this made it less sterile but left little room to put our things - suitcases, flippers etc. Being on the 10th floor afforded us amazing views of the ocean, Diamond Head, Fork DeRussy Park and the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel. The overall location was great with two great restaurants for breakfast next door. The unit also faced west and Ala Moana Blvd which meant there was constant traffic noise if the sliding doors were open or shut. This was by far the biggest disadvantage. Even when the very efficient air conditioner was working you could still hear the traffic. If we had been a light sleeper, ear plugs would have been a must. Hopefully these comments will help to further improve the experience for others.

      Good Value with some shortcomings.

Left on 02/05/2012 for a stay in February 2012

Had trouble on arrival checking in and again later with no linen for sofa bed. However both were fixed promptly. Place was clean and the plumbing worked OK. Location was good but the big bonus for this place was the parking space provided. Overall a pleasant experience.

Aqua Palms 1020 was comfortable, convenient place. Had a pretty good view, but there was no sitting area on lanai. Also, parking was including with the stay, but did not find out until I called the property management and asked about it, after few days. I should asked prior to the stay, but it would have been nice if it were mentioned in the confirmation letter. Overall, the place was cozy, clean, and comfortable.

I think I confused rental photos as I was expecting a larger room(s) and a kitchen, BUT we made the best of it, and would definitely stay again. It was a wonderful time, the view was great and we were high enough up that the Tsunami was not an evacuation issue. Thanks very much.
