Diamond Head and sunset views are in front with the Hanauma Bay Reserve behind. Located nearby are gorgeous beaches, Hanuama Bay, Sandy's and Makapu'u. Close in proximity are Sea Life Park, Blowhole Lookout, 2 golf courses and the Makapu'u Hiking trail. The home we had rented months earlier for Christmas 2012 in Hawaii was sold and not available. As we already had plans to travel to Hawaii from various parts of North america I was worried about finding another place for a party of 6. I was incredibly fortunate to find Sandy's home in Honolulu. The home is in a higher end residential area on the east side on Diamond Head, about a 30 minute drive by hwy from the airport. Sandy has an incredible array of kitchen utensils, along with her high end kitchen and laundry appliances, with clear instructions available on how to use. The large deck with its panoramic view of Diamond Head and the open concept kitchen/dining room/family area allowed ample room for everyone to also have their "own space". All 3 bedrooms were a good size and comfortable. Two 4 piece baths were upstairs with a 2 piece bathroom off the kitchen. Grocery stores and other shopping were within a 3 minute drive. My husband and I enjoyed walking the neighborhood, and wished we had found earlier the small beach associated with the homes, it would be perfect for small kids (has a sandy area), teenagers, or just wanting to stay nearby and go for a swim. The lagoon park that is the other side of the mountain Sandy's home backs onto is lovely, the entrance cost is well worth it. It takes only 4 minutes to drive to. Driving to Waikiki took only 15 minutes by hwy. An FYI for Pearl Harbor, if you get there before 11 am in non busy times, the park keeps a number of free entrance tickets, something that is not well published on the websites for Pearl Harbor, we were lead to believe you had to pay a tour company.
We definitely enjoyed our stay at Sandy's house. It was a perfect set up for 6 adults,(would suggest young children would need to be cautioned to be careful with decorator items throughout the home). My husband especially liked being away from the crowds in Waikiki, and the easy access to the hwy for driving around Oahu. -

Only five minutes from beautiful Hanauma Bay with easy access to all of Oahu's gorgeous sites. Perfect arrangement for our family vacation - a world apart from Honolulu congestion...breakfast on the balcony watching parasailers before each day's activity...Hawaii Five-O filming in the neighborhood...ample room for five adults in our group...warm malasadas from Leonard's truck in a nearby shopping center...great sunsets. Sandy is a most hospitable host. Go and enjoy!

My two friends and I stayed for a week at this very lovely home and it was hard to leave. Being there was so peaceful and relaxing that we almost hated leaving each day to tour the island. The home is exquisitely decorated and has million dollar views from practically every room. Sitting on the balconies morning for breakfast and evening just relaxing and taking in the view was worth it all.
We all want to come back again to soak up the atmosphere.
