Minneapolis, MNAmazing Views Relaxing and Beautiful.

We had an amazing time at Key Belize. The house was much larger than we expected and the balcony provided the best views of the ocean. Hopkins is a cute little town - you must eat at the Indian restaurant in town! We saw toucans while on a walk one day and would bike into town at night for dinner. The perfect place to spend a relaxing week on the beach with plenty of options for day excursions.

Terre HauteNice place . . . not luxurious . . . but comfortable

This 2 story home is on the beach. Its comfortable but not luxurious. We rented the entire house (Upper and lower floors can be rented separately). The upper floor has 3 bedrooms/2 baths. The master bedroom has a queen size bed the remaining bedrooms have 2 twin beds (we pushed ours together). The lower floor is a separate one bedroom apartment. It also has twin beds which my sister and her husband pushed together. For most of the week the beach was coverd in seaweed/dead leaves/some trash but the owners sent people to clean it when we asked (but the workers can best be described as slow). The water is beautiful and warm. You could walk out quite a distance in the water and swimming was fine. Restraunts are not really in walking distance but we rented golf carts and got along great. Neighbor who rents golf carts let us use his kayaks so we had fun kayaking in the ocean. Its a small town, good food, but the roads are very bad - like driving on a wash board.

There had been a large storm which deposited an unusually large amount of seagrass on the beaches of Hopkins. This does happen during the summer months when there is more rain. So the timing was unforunate for our guests. It should have been cleaned up faster however.

IndianaNice house - beach unusable
Left on 06/24/2011 for a stay in June 2011
The house was nice and clean and well furnished. We were not prepared for the bedrooms to be twin beds (except for the master), and my wife and I had to push the two twins beside each other so we could sleep next to each other. The town was charming and fun. We rented golf carts so we could get into town each day for resaurants or grocerries. Although we could have probably walked, the mile or so on the dusty gravel road would have been tiring in the hot sun. We ate at several very good restaurants and cooked at the house several times as well. There is an excellent small bakery in town run by Caitlin, who made wonderful daily foods.
Our big issue was that we did not get to use the beach at the house do to a large amount of debris washed up. Almost all of it was an accumulation of leaves. We asked for it to get cleaned up so we could swim at the house, but apparently it is not easy to get the labor help to complete the job. They did a hour or less of raking each day for 3-4 days, but that never really did make even a small dent in the debris. One would have had to cross about 15 feet wide and up to 3 feet deep of debris just to get to the water. Instead we drove into town each day and found an open stretch of beach at one of the resorts or restaurants that was keeping their beach clean daily. Kind of a hassle, but the sandy bottom beach was beautiful.
A clean beach access area would have out this rating one higher.Response from Dean Sanberg - 07/11/2011
