Lovely...could have been better if all that was promised was del

Left on 02/27/2013 for a stay in February 2013

Myself, Wife and Bro/Sister in law stayed at the house for 8 days in late February. Given the location of the house we decided to rent a vehicle at the airport with a satnav and this ultimately proved a godsend. After trying to put in the address of the house to no avail, we finally put in the β€œAway” Resort which the satnav accepted, this being approximately 2 km from the beach house. After a few wrong turnings near Bangkok we found ourselves en route to the beach house. I must say the standard of roads and driving in Thailand is excellent and they also drive on the left. We stopped on the way down at Cha am for supper and again at a 7-11 for basics as we were too late for the main Tesco store.
Do not be put off by the sandy track to the beach house as it is all perfectly safe. The location of the house itself is wonderful, overlooking the ocean which is approximately 50 meters away. We had texted ahead to Sue the owner, to let her know our arrival time and a quick bib on the horn brought her to the main gate.
The house is lovely, containing most of the basics, though is not what I would call luxurious. There were no β€œessentials” whatsoever ie. salt, pepper, cooking oil, foil, clingfilm, ketchup etc., so don’t forget these on your trip to the store. I was also disappointed not to find a blender having already bought sufficient alcohol to disable a well equipped army with cocktails. If you must have English mustard and brown sauce on your food, these were not available, likewise branston and picallilli. Also be aware that sugar ants are everywhere and anything you leave open like biscuits or cereal will be quickly inundated so keep in sealed lid containers. Mosquitoes were about at dawn and dusk though not hundreds of. A quick squirt of repellent is sufficient to keep them at bay.
The house design is a bit strange. There is no a/C in the main living area which can make it a bit uncomfortable. To access one of the bedrooms which contained two double beds, you have to go through the first bedroom. You can however go through the side doors then round to the front door quite easily so this is not a major problem. I would personally be a bit concerned with very young children around the pool area as there are sharp edges and also unguarded drops on one pool side and near the washing machine. This is probably the old fart side of me coming out that sees danger in everything
The first thing we was told when being met by the owner Sue was that Toyd the maid had won the lottery and therefore we did not have a cooking service, daily cleaning or laundry service. Further the jetski and waterskis listed as amenities on the house advertisement were in fact only available to hire at a cost of Β£45 per hour, in which case I guess golf and elephant trekking could also be amenities as well. The internet also did not work for almost half our stay. We also requested hiring the settee on wheels scooter for one day but this was also not working and also the Jacuzzi jets stopped working after 3 days.
Saying this, would I stay here again? I would have to say yes but transportation is a must. The weather was fantastic (31oC), with a sea breeze every day. (This starts about 11-12 every day and lasts till evening.) We visited many resorts along the coast and found some truly gorgeous areas. A trip to a National Park brought a close encounter with a wild elephant which came some 6” from our vehicle which I was unfortunate to miss as I had gone fishing myself. This was apparently a very rare occurrence as on telling Sue, she had been there herself many times and never seen one. I would also say the hiring of a vehicle was actually cost efficient as many tours give you the whole β€œpackage” and in consequence cost about Β£40 per head whereas our trip to Monkey Island was Β£13 as opposed to the Β£160 we would have had to pay.
The sea itself is very safe for bathing though not very clear and is shallow for a long way out and also with hardly any stones, the only occasional discomfort coming from seashells and in consequence I swam most days. I saw a few jellyfish but these were few and far between and as I swam into a few I don’t believe these were of the stinging variety.
We had a round of golf at the Eagle Milford Golf Course which included 2 buggies, 2 club hire plus caddies and round cost (2 playing) and this was about Β£120. It should be said the course is definitely not the best in the area, the bunkers being extremely poor, however the cost was nearly half of what other courses were charging and with the standard of my golf, was definitely good enough for me.
We ate at too many restaurants to mention and the quality on the whole was very good. The question is would I come back? I would say a yes though I would expect Sue to have addressed some of the issues I raised.
Also be prepared for a leaving bill for water and electricity when you depart though an adjustment was made on the water bill as a reported leak in the bathroom had been unfixed for the duration of our stay.

      Relaxing place, ideal frontbeach location

Left on 08/10/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Nice and comfortable house, large bedrooms and beautiful bathrooms.
Both owner (Sue) and housekeeper were helpful, we had booked two motorbikes that were at our disposal at the house, which was likeable.
The house is quite laid back so you need personal transportation.
Sue proposed us to give an English lesson to primary school children,
we loved sharing time with Banmai pupils, teaching them english, playing soccer and volley ball with them, thank you Sue for permtting us to live those moments!
Hope to see you next year, Stephanie, Didier and the kids

      Fantastic place!

Left on 04/16/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We stayed in Beachfronthouse for two weeks in March. It was the best holiday we have ever had, because it was so different from hotel holidays - no hundreds of people around, no crowded beaches, no busy hotel breakfasts. We could not believe our eyes - all beach as far as we could see was for us only! This is place where you can enjoy every moment of being together with your family and have real quality time.
Sue was very professional during booking process, organized transportation, car rental and so on. Always smiling Toyd was very helpful on whatever we needed and she was cooking delicious meals for us. Previous reviewers have already described all positive aspects of this place, so we can just once more confirm uniqueness of this Paradise spot on Earth.

      Wonderful vacation!

Left on 03/27/2012 for a stay in March 2012

This house was everything we were looking for! We live in a huge asian city and we were looking for privacy and quiet and it just doesn't get much better than this location! As with other reviews you should know that this place is far, far from almost anywhere! This is not a place to come to if you are looking for late nights and parties, this is a place to relax and enjoy the beauty of this amazing country! We had arranged for a airport pick-up but our flights were delayed and we were pushed to a later flight, this meant we didn't arrive till late at night. Knowing what I know now I would choose a morning flight or an overnight stay at an airport hotel. The first day was a little rough. Having arrived late we did not get to stop at the grocery on the way and the next day we felt very isolated and convinced we had made a horrible decision. The next day we rented scooters, and our vacation began. As with other reviewers transportation is a must! We rode around the coast and up through little towns and ate at all the local places. The food around is completely amazing. There were a few bumps along the way with a few things going on at the property and some mis-communication, but Sue and Toyd always went above and beyond to make it right and once we realized that they wanted to make sure we had a great time also it was great! We brought our two young children and they loved the open beaches and the small pool. Highly recommend this house and we can not wait to return!

Fantastic house in lovely peaceful location

Left on 01/31/2012 for a stay in January 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting our friend who had rented the house for a week. After a long journey it was lovely to be met by the housekeeper, Toyd. She kindly cooked for us, cleaned, did some shopping, arranged a motorbike to rent and even had it delivered to the house! The house is lovely and peaceful and we loved just walking out of the gates and into the sea for a swim. The owner was very responsive too. We look forward to returning and revisiting the lovely fishing village and restaurants just a short bike ride up the coast.

      Excellent Value

Left on 01/30/2012 for a stay in January 2012

Others have described the property well. For me the best feature was the peace and quiet, due to being located on a no-exit road. The view from the terrace out to sea was relaxing, and varied with the passing boats. Local eating options were excellent - even at a deluxe resort nearby the main meals were only Β£3 or so. Local roads are almost deserted so it is great fun exploring the area by motor scooter and seeing the huge fields of pineapples. The internet and TV service wasvery good, and TV included Star Sports, Espn, Golf Channel and others, as well as many news and documentary channels.

A fabulous relaxing holiday in a lovely house right on the beach

Left on 01/23/2012 for a stay in December 2011

We stayed at the beach house for nine days. We were warmly welcomed by the housekeeper who showed us around the house explaining how everything worked. The house was absolutely perfect for us as a family (our 20 month daughter was with us) as the living area was open plan with a great deck and small pool at the front. The two spacious bedrooms had lovely ensuite bathrooms and the kitchen was perfectly adequate for our needs on holiday. It was wonderful to have Khun Toyd (the housekeeper)look after us so well. She cooked for us every night and cleaned the house everyday and even did some shopping for us when we needed it. She also arranged for us to have a hire car and massages, which were absolutely fantastic! The location of the house was lovely, literally on the beach with a great view of the sea from the doors and windows at the front. You need a car to get around as the house is in a tiny, remote fishing village. The nearest supermarket (Tesco Lotus) is about 12km away but there are plenty of small stores by the roadside fairly nearby. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and if you just want to stroll, you can walk along the sandy beach or beachside track for quite some way. If you want a little more action, Hua Hin is only about 45mins away and the main village of Pranburi is only a few kms along the coast. We had a fabulous time at the beach house swimming in the pool or the sea, sunbathing, playing on the beach, exploring the surrounding area, eating delicious Thai food and generally relaxing. If you want to have a quiet, relaxing holiday on the beach, this is the place for you. We would certainly go back and stay at the beach house again as we had such a wonderful time.

Be careful when booking : surprises may arise !

Left on 12/11/2011 for a stay in December 2011

We wanted to book this house for 5 nights in august 2012 and agreed on the price with the owner (full week price, as cheaper than 5 nights).
When I mentionned we wanted to stay until 6PM on the last day (because of a late flight in Bangkok), the owner asked for 500 additional THB. I refused, explaining that we were already paying for a full week.
Though we had already agreed on payment method, the owner finally answered :"we regret the house is no longer available"... but availability tables on internet show the opposite.

      Fantastic Holiday for the family!

Left on 10/12/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We stayed in this house for 17 days in June/July 2011. The short story is we loved it, the longer story is you need to know what sort of holiday you are after...
If you want a resort with lots of people and your life organised for you, then maybe you should look again! But we loved the relative isolation of this house, the perfect beaches and the pool which is a lifesaver on the always hot days.
We arranged a pickup from our hotel in Bangkok through Sue and I often tell the story to our friends of how the freeway turned to highway, the highway turned to two way road, to single lane, and then to dirt track! By this stage we were wondering where we would end up!
Toyd the housekeeper greeted us and we settled in our temporary home. Still wondering if we had done the right thing? The house is perfect but where were we, we were asking?
Even though Sue had recommended it we hadn't ordered a car - which is essential! So we texted her and within 2 hours a car arrived - delivered to the door. We took many trips with our 2 year old to see the caves nearby, Monkey Island cruise, Hua Hin, Pranburi Texco, the many beaches and just soak up the local life.
Along the road at Khao Klok there are many stalls where you can buy food - whole BBQ chicken (yum) and some resorts if you are feeling like a more western style of service. There is a bar run by friends of Sue and Brian there too if you feel like a beer, chat and some International sport on TV. They also serve a roast etc. if you want too!
      Some things to consider:
This isn't a resort although the house and facilities are top class. You are on your own, which we loved, to do your own thing. There are many trips to do and I am sure Toyd and Sue can assist.
You need a car - that is definite. Again, Sue was great here and the car was very reasonably priced.
Internet was good and pretty reasonably priced - we booked for the entire time before we left.

Relaxing holiday in a great area

Left on 08/20/2011 for a stay in August 2011

We had a fantastic holiday in this gorgeous beach house with our 2 children aged 12 and 13. The beach really is on the doorstep and whilst we were there in august we had the whole 3 km of beach to ourselves ! The house is extremely comfortable and the outside pool and dining area are heaven.

The owner and the house maid (Toyd) really thought of everything to make our stay as relaxing as possible. Toyd organised massages and manicures, she cooked us fantastic meals and even prepared a home-made " aloe vera " potion for sunburn ! I really relaxed for the entire 2 weeks as Toyd cleaned the house , made the beds daily and even did the washing up and laundry. We really miss her !

The location is very quiet and a complete contrast from the commercialized beaches in Hua Hin. You do need a car but Pan Nam Pran is only a 5-minute drive and there are lots of good restaurants and a daily market. On the coastal road to Pak Nam Pran (just next to the Moroccan resort) is a fantastic restaurant called "Ton to”. Great food served next to the beach, really friendly service and so cheap !

I would recommend this property to couples or families (or newly-weds), who are seeking peace and quiet away from the touristy areas and looking for a relaxing base. There is loads to see and do in the area and the markets are numerous. Hua Hin just a 20 minute drive and lots of interesting places to visit (monkey temple, shrines high on the hills with great views, shops galore, night market, train station etc...).

We are sad that are holiday is over and would definitely return.
