Mountain Beach Retreat Khao Kalok is a luxury well equipped modern complex with a Thai holiday ambiance, it sleeps a total of 19 including 3 camper beds for children in the villa and four cottages comprising three double + one twin bedroom in the L-shaped villa and two doubles + two twin bedrooms in the cottages.
All en-suite bedrooms look out over the pool and tropical gardens, they are spacious with built in wardrobe, air conditioning, ceiling fans, tea/Coffee making facilities and bar fridge.

Pak Nam Pran barely registers on most foreign tourists" radar, but many better-off Bangkokians have favourite beaches in this area, the nicest of which is the delightfully sophisticated Khao Kalok with its long and sandy beach and restaurants for more information take a look at Khao Kalok on the web.
From the beach Mr Moo hires Jet- skis, canoes, banana boats, ATV,s (quad bikes) motorbikes along with ATV tours of the local area, or take a ride on a elephant.

4 WD COMMANDO TOURS YOU DRIVE OR WITH DRIVER
Tour starts from Mountain Beach Retreat to the beach for driver training and then on the tour though the local mud flats ( lets hope its raining ) and up the mountains and onto Sam Roi Yot National park you will go though Thai villages see prawn farms , rock temples , and enjoy a boat trip on Sam Roi Yot water lakes ( about 1 hour ) and then we drive to Dolphin Bay for lunch which is included and after you have free time to look around before going along the beach and beach roads to the Mountain Beach Retreat.
The C Cats and Commandos are the only ones of there kind in Thailand and they are the property of the Mountain Beach so the tours are exclusive to our guests.

Going north towards the Everson Hotel there are many shack- like shore-front restaurants together with Mr Sings Beach Bar who always greets you with a big Thai smile. Here you can sit and enjoy an ice cold singer beer or if you prefer a cocktail drink together with a massage, manicure while looking over gulf of Thailand.
During the rainy season you're quite likely to see pink dolphins playing within sight of the shore.
In Pak Nam Pran there is a Thai market held three times a week the fruit, veg and seafood are very good along with being cheap.
South of Pak Nam is dolphin bay were you can hire a local fishing boat to take you over to monkey island its about 10 minutes by boat and well worth the trip.

28km south of Pak Nam is the Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park a major draw is the famously photogenic
Phraya Nakhon khiri cave ( its a must ).
Between Khoa kalok and Pak Nam Pran on the beach there is K B A Kiteboarding Shool with courses going from 1 day to 3 days for beginners.

We had a Wonderful Holiday with Extended Family (19) Ian and Theresa were absolutely Fantastic and couldn't do more to assist us with our stay. They organised Scooter/Buggy Hire, arranged trips out and even done some food shopping. Their recommendations on eating out were superb, and great value. The accomodation was Excellent, with very high specification including air Conditioning and ensuites in all rooms, fans in the large bar area, with TV and music system. Mountain Beach Retreat was beautiful and kept spotless, with cleaners daily. The Swimming pool is an excellent size and layout with thoughtful built in stools (ideal for drinks in the pool) Ian & Theresa can arrange day trips, and we recommend Hutsadin Elephant Foundation, Monkey Island, Hua Hin Night Market and they even organised a Dolphin Swim in Pattaya. Ian and Theresa's attention to detail goes above and beyond any normal expectations and were on call 24 hours a day. We would just like to say Thank you to Ian and Theresa for a warm welcome and a wonderful unforgettable 2 weeks. Vernon and Chrissy

Stayed at Mountain Retreat for two weeks in October, Six friends on golfing holiday.
Many thanks to Ian & Theresa for helping us with transport, scooters, phone cards, sport channels, food,massages, internet, just to name a few. The retreat was perfect for a group, half an hour from town centre, 5 min from beach bars & great eating locations. Scooters are a must & just phone Ian & Theresa if you stray of the one road to get home -) 15 min - one hour to 10 top notch golf courses. All in all i would recommend to anyone who wants to stay in a quite location with the option of beach & bars just up the road. The owners mentioned above will help with any service or problems that arise. Will see you again. Regards Rick miller

Lovely retreat, perfect secluded in a small village. Owners very friendly and kindly arranged pick up from bangkok and massages for us on the sat. Rooms all clean and beds very comfy, facilities awesome- amazing bar and kitchen and all well stocked with glasses and utensils! Was a fantastic weekend celebrating a good friends' birthday with lots of great people!

Our group of 10 adults had a super time at Mountain Beach Retreat. Ian and Teresa made sure everything was perfect for us, and were so helpful. When the bbq wasn't working properly, they very promptly brought us a new one! Everything from arranging transport from Bangkok, welcoming us with cold beers on our arrival, arranging in house massages, manicures and pedicures, ordering and picking up a birthday cake for a member of our party - they made this the perfect weekend for all of us.
The villa is lovely - the pool was perfect - the bar was great for socializing, the kitchen, bar and rooms were all fully equipped. We were already planning when we could come back next, before we had even left!!!Response from Charles C. - 05/12/2011

The Mountain Beach Retreat (MBR) is truly and well described on the Website but we (6 adult and 2 kids 4 and 6) would after our 3 weeks stay at MBR we like to highlight some of it´s features noticed:
- MBR is clean and very well equiped, at least as good as in an average family home.
- All 8 bedromms + the indoor kitchen and diningroom have induvidual entrances from outside which gives a good degree of privacy plus that "early birds" do not disturb others.
- The outdoor kitchen is great with it´s generous BBQ, 2 friges, TV etc. It become the only kitchen used plus our common meeting point. Perfect.
- The pool in the centre of the complex is well sized and was popular not only by the kids. Very good.
- The service, including having a rented car waiting on our arrival and picked up before depature, transfer T7R BKK etc. given by Theresa and Ian was first class.
- Hua Hin is only 35 km, Ban Buri abt. 10 km from MBR, both with Tesco supermarket, markets plus good shopping. Even closer are smaller Thai stores/shops plus a Tesco Express. The closets Thai shop is only 150 m from MBR.
- The location in a very nice in a very quiet ressidential district with only approx 30-40 private villas. Ony some 100 meters away from MBR are small Thai farmer homes. Every day their life stock is brought to graze passing MBR and we got friendly smiles from the farmer.
- The two closets beaches are very good, not crowded, free from "beach sales" and good for kids. Close or direct on the beatches are Thai restaurants, some also offering massage, all with resonable prices.
- Starting only abt. 1,5 km from MBR are many good Thai restaurants. Good Thai food and resonable prices.
- We had good use of the reted car and think a car or scooters are recommendable.
Summary: If you don´t like quietness, not crowded beaches, no beach sales, genuine Thai life and villages, you better do not stay at MBR. We have no negative remarks to be made.

After our (6 adult + 2 kids, 4 and 6) we concluded that MBR is even better than described on the Web because all it´s features can´t be covered in a short Web description or this short review. However the following should be highlighted:
- Access to all 8 bedromms, the indoor kitchen, sitting and dining room are individual from outside. This enable a good degree of privacy plus that the eventual "early birds" don´t disturb others.
- The outdoor kitchen is great with it´s very generous BBQ, two friges, TV, bar.
- The pool in the centre of the complex is well sized and was popular not only by the kids.
- All bedrooms are very good all with bathroom, A/C, minibar fridge, tea/cofee boiler and all facing the pool.
- MBR is very well equiped, nothing missing.
To get around to beaches, for shopping etc. a car is recommended.
Both Theresa and Ian gve us first class support and service during our stay.
MBR is located in a very quiet resedential district with only approx. 30-40 properties/villas.
Only some 100 meters from MBR are several small Thai farmers. Every day they passed by MBR walking their life stock to graze.
Good shooping, nightlife, restaurants, bars and markets are available not only in Hua Hin (36 km) but also in Ban Buri (10 km). In Ban Buri is a Tesco supermarket and closer to MBR you´ll find a Tesco Express (=small Tesco). There are also many small Thai stores/shops, bars not far (1,5 - 2 km) from MBR. Closets little shop is only 150-200 meters away. The kids liked the ice-cream scooter which stoped at the MBR´s gate every day.
The closets beaches are clean, calm and very shallow and very good for kids.
If you don´t like quietness, smell of the country side, quiet and not crowded beaches with no disturbances of beach sales, the genuine Thai village life you better do not stay at MBR.
We have NO negative remarks to be made and
recommend MBR both to our friends and others.

We (6 adults and 5 childeren) had our family reunion at the Mountain Beach retreat. It was absolutely perfect! Nothing is too much for the owners and hosts Ian and Teresa. They thought of everything to make us feel at home. Like a warm welcome, extra pool toys for the kids and groceries for the first days and many other things that made us really enjoy our holiday. They know al lot of people in the area and you name it and Ian can organise it. The house is luxurious and spacious and has everything you need for a perfect holiday. Large bedrooms (with very good beds for the tall guys), a cosy gazebo, a very well equipped kitchen in and outside. The bar area with the terrace is fantastic for reading, playing area, relaxing, eating, watching TV and so much more. The pool was the most favourite place of the kids. And every part of the house is spotless clean and the housekeeping and cleaning service is great! The house is in a real Thai village, with friendly people and away from the crowds. But not too far from the beach and the local bars and restaurants where you can eat very good Thai food or get a nice Thai massage. And so cheap. So in every way, staying in the villa is a retreat, a celebration and we thank Ian and Teresa for the wonderful time we had. We said we would come back. We are, as we booked the villa again for july 2011.
