      Awesome views

Left on 03/20/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Stayed here for a week in March 2013. The pictures do not do the place justice, in any way. The setting was spectacular, with incredible views of the ocean, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and a wonderful night sky. The pool is tucked away and is only in the blazing sun for part of the day, which was a nice break. Marco was a great host and the VW Bug that comes with the place was fun to drive (our kids loved it).

Spent a day at Celeste Beach Club (there is a card that comes with the house that gives you access), a half-day canyoning down the Zimatan River (see my review of Oaxaca Expediciones), visiting the Copalita ruins (if you've seen other Mexican ruins, I'd give this a pass), and day trips to variious beaches. A wonderful week.

One caveat - the house is in a great location if you want to chill and relax. It's a 5 minute drive to Tegolunda and a 15 minute drive to town so if you're looking for nightlife, you might think about some place closer to the centre.

One tip - on weekend nights the owner of the property across the street fires up his pizza oven. We ate there twice and the pizza was top-notch. Look for the home-made "pizzas" sign.

Its What a Tropical Oceanfront Villa Should Be

Left on 01/04/2013 for a stay in November 2012

A friend referred this place to me so I went and checked itout online. What a place, the photos speak for themselves, but still do not do it justice. Bookd it for first week of November, I was told by the owner it was a great time of the year in Huatulco and it was! When I first opened the door to the villa, a big smile instantly grew on my face. My girl friend danced a little jig in excitement. We were greeted by an open air palapa roofed living room with a clear view to lushtropical landscape and the ocean below. We spent the first 30 minutes just exploring the unique property and discovering cool features and details. The design and layout is great. The materials and furnishings are all authentic and highquality. Every thing was in working order and very clean. It felt like I was the first guest to ever stay here, which was surprising considering my previous stays around Mexico. One of the best weeks of my life. Villa Paita made this my best Mexican vacation ever. We will definitely be back. With our dearest friends.

      Stunning view and great accommodations

Left on 01/01/2013 for a stay in December 2012

On our last journey to Villa Paita, the anticipation of walking through the door and seeing the view was the only thing on our minds. The view is simply stunning. For those of us that do not live near an ocean, it is surreal. Even after a week of seeing the view day in and day out, the expansive, unobstructed view of the Pacific takes my breath away.

The house perfectly fits the environment and is very comfortable. Marco is a wonderful host and will help you with any request. The house and setting are so comfortable, it is difficult to be motiviated to leave the property to explore the area. But, when you do, there are many places to see and activities to do. Access to Celeste was wonderful. We utilized both the gym and enjoyed cocktails in the upstairs lounge. We also arranged for Eco Spa to come to the house for a massage. Very relaxing.

Marco also helped us arrange both a fishing trip and a bay tour. The boat and crew were perfect for both trips. The bay tour is a fantastic way to experience the area as you can stop at different bays for snorkeling, hanging out on the beach as well as enjoying lunch at one of the beach restaurants.

Overall, we are hooked on Villa Paita. This is our place to relax, detach from everyday life, and be reacquainted with nature. A great way to reenergize and we highly recommend it.

Spectacular setting andfull use of a spa

Left on 11/05/2012 for a stay in October 2012

I doubt that there is a more breathtaking view anywhere in Huatulco. On top of that, you get full use of the spa and private bay 1 1/2 blocks away. Marco is most helpful and can arrange for reasonable well cooked meals from a local cook who makes everything from scratch. Be sure to try her chicken mole and Chile relleno. Only problem is that the environment is so relaxed and spectacular, it's hard to find the motivation to explore any of the other areas. There is not a more enjoyable way to visit Huatulco!

An absolutely beautiful and very private palapa that is the perf

Left on 10/30/2012 for a stay in January 2012

This is a very well maintained palapa style property on a point located above the Conejos bay. The backyard is very private and has over 100 feet of unobstructed pacific frontage where you can lie in a hammock and watch Frigate birds and Pelicans fly by at eye level (2-3 bars of wifi at the hammock for those who need to be connected). What’s cool and takes some getting used to is the property faces south on the Pacific so you have the sun rising and setting on the ocean in front of you. We took the less than 15 minute walk to the beach everyday for a morning swim. Even though there is a new condo complex up from the beach, we had it to ourselves everyday that we were there. The water is warm enough so you can stay in all day if you like. We enjoyed the very colorful local birdlife in the area and the local iguana population was entertaining as well.

Huatulco is a nicely landscaped city with divided roads. Driving is civilized and there are plenty of places relatively close by to see and explore. Just five minutes up the road from Conejos is the archeological Site with 200 acres of nice stone paths and a new museum. The paths, under large trees with butterflies and birds galore, meander around excavated Zapotec, Mixtec and aztec archeological sites. The view from the cliff of the river and coast make this park a great way to get some exercise and an idea of the lay of the land.
Dinning is quite varied with a couple good Italian restaurants. There is a supermarket nearby but we would recommend shopping in town at the smaller grocery stores.

Marco is an excellent host originally from the San Francisco Bay area. He built the Villa Paita himself. He will take good care of you and steer you towards the best restaurants and places to see and visit.

Our Bit of Paradise Every Year

Left on 10/28/2012 for a stay in February 2012

We’ve been coming to Villa Paita in February for many years now, and frankly, we keep returning for all the things that it doesn’t offer: huge hotel crowds, lounge Olympics at the crack of dawn, group activities (aka forced fun), food lines, crowded pools, and staff at your beck and call.
All you’ll hear here is the sound of the surf. And the only activity you’re forced into is moving from the bed to the lounge to the pool. It’s an amazingly peaceful place to get away from it all in the middle of paradise.
Marco is an excellent host, always available if you need advice or assistance, yet nowhere to be found when you want privacy. His recent 2nd story addition is a true luxury suite. It’s equipped with a luxury bath, comfortable king bed, ceiling fans, a/c, tv, wifi, and sound. The view from the upstairs patio is incredible, and there’s always a breeze.
Marco has extensive knowledge of the Huatulco area, and he’s always happy to make suggestions about dining, shopping, etc. And he’s great landlord: everything is always in good working order, and if it breaks, he’s on it.
So no more crowded hotels for us. Villa Paita is truly our paradise.

Accommodations that will finally exceed your expectations

Left on 10/19/2012 for a stay in March 2012

I have only one word to describe Villa Paita, and that word is... Wow ! My family and I never enjoyed a Mexican vacation as much as we did in Huatulco, and it was, first and foremost, because of our accommodations at Villa Paita. Of course much of that enjoyment was due to the extraordinary hospitality of the owner/builder/manager of the Villa, Mr. Gordon. His attention to detail in the construction and operation of the Villa is unbelievable. He even offers a VW Beetle with your reservation if you want it.

For starters, the Villa Paita Website is spectacular. But we all know Websites usually misrepresent the actual property. Well, not this time. The actual property is breathtaking, and totally exceeded our expectations. You can definitely trust what you see online. The Villa's location is cliff-side, three hundred feet above the surging Pacific in a secure, gated community. Our safety while in Huatulco was never an issue.

When you drive up to the Villa you have no idea what is just ahead. When you open the front door you see a lap pool extending into the living room, and straight ahead is the backyard and the most incredible view of the ocean and Huatulco's largest bay. You expect to see an enclosed room with windows and doors, but no. No wall, no windows, no doors; just a wide open view. The Villa is expertly appointed and the second level master suite is, in a word, sweet.

This will not be our last trip to Villa Paita. We were completely satisfied with our vacation decision. No complaints.

Beautiful, quiet, and very comfortable vacation home

Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We visited Villa Paita in March of 2012 with another couple. What a fabulous home. So unexpected! The fresh air open living area was incredible. Marco was very attentive and really focused on all of the details of our trip. The views are incredible and the property is very spacious. While at the house we enjoyed entertaining in the living area and yard. Swam in the awesome pool, relaxed with a book in the hammock, and took lots and lots of pictures!
We drove all over the place in the VW bug that comes with the property. What fun we had! Marco can hook you up with great adventures too. We spent a day with his friend, who took us on his boat from one snorkeling area to another and from secluded beach to secluded beach! We were the only four people on the beach or snorkeling in most places.
If you want a fabulous vacation away from the resort, but in a vacation home with so much to offer, this is your place! Marco will take excellent care of you!

      Words cannot describe...

Left on 10/07/2012 for a stay in December 2011

The serenity and beauty here at Villa Paita is almost unimaginable and hardly describable. The views, the sea breeze, the melodic ocean waves lapping at the rocks below take you to a tranquil paradise that is solely yours. The house itself is quaint and more than adequate. Everything you would need is at your disposal. The finishes and decor reflect the beautiful culture, and the amenities (TV, sound system, baths) are ultra modern in comparison.
The private yard is large and beautifully landscaped. For hours we lay outside sunbathing hearing nothing but the ocean below, the same crashing waves that then lull you to sleep at night. We spent most of our days swimming endlessly in the private pool or laying in the cliff side hammock enjoying the sea breeze and the amazing view of the pacific that begins where the yard ends and goes on endlessly as you turn your head from shoulder to shoulder.
When we needed entertainment we would venture to town in the VW. It was great having a car at our disposal. The VW was fun to drive and takes you back to those days when we were young and life was good. Villa Paita is barely a ten minute drive from downtown Huatulco and in a gated community that has 24 hr security. This made us feel safe and looked after ;-)
When we had any questions or needs, Marco was always at our disposal. He is a bevy of information when it comes to the local restaurants, activities, towns people and local happenings. He also made renting Villa Paita easy, competent and secure.
We loved our stay and will definitely be again!

Left on 10/06/2012 for a stay in March 2011

My wife and I have visited Huatulco six times and stayed at Villa Paita the last four times and have reservations again for this Christmas week. While Residencial Conejos is not within walking distance to Santa Cruz or La Crucecita, it is a short taxi or VW bug (included with the villa) ride to either, and most of the beaches. Upon walking through the front door, you have one of the greatest vistas I have ever seen. The open-air palapa which looks out over the green lawn with the blue Pacific in the background. The villa is located on a cul-de-sac and truly feels like your own little sanctuary. The plunge pool, the views from atop the cliff, and the recently added upstairs bedroom could chill out even the most wound up person. The owner, Marco Gordon is also really helpful regarding new restaurant recs or just answering questions about the area. Can't wait till December.

      Love Villa Paita!

Left on 09/29/2012 for a stay in November 2011

Villa Paita is truly my paradise. My husband and I have been vacationing there annually for many years. For us, our trip there guarantees relaxation. Marco, the owner, lives in Huatulco and being from California, speaks English and Spanish perfectly. He is a wonderful host and should you need anything, he is always accommodating.
The view from the villa is unobstructed gorgeous ocean. There is a large lawn with very nice landscaping overlooking the Pacific. The distantly calming sound of the surf is heavenly and romantic. The living areas are mostly open air with the exception of the bedrooms and bathrooms. There is a lovely stereo system for music throughout the villa as well as satellite TV and Wi Fi. The bedrooms are air conditioned and the beds (although I have not slept in all of them)are comfortable.
The pool, which is nicely sized for laps or a cool dip, is partially shaded and surrounded by beautiful palms and local plants. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals and there is a barbeque grill out on the point. The upstairs bedroom has windows on two sides which open out the gorgeous view. It is equipped with a bar area, mini fridge and flat screen TV. The upstairs bathroom has a roomy shower and modern décor.
The villa is located in a high-end gated community which is home to many large, beautiful residences.
Villa Paita is our perfect place to decompress. We go into town daily to shop, enjoy a meal out and stroll through La Crucetia, the downtown square. There is a nice golf course in town and exploring areas like Santa Cruz, Chahue, Playa Entegra are also fun. Marco will tell you all the best dining spots and can suggest things to do for many different interests.
We welcome a break from our fast-paced lives and Villa Paita offers the solace and comfort we adore. I recommend the villa for a romantic, relaxing getaway.
