    Additional Location Information

The pretty town of Huelgoat is situated on the edge of 15-hectare lake and a forest of 600 hectares in the middle of the Parc Nationale D'Armorique, Brittany, France
This luxury villa sits within a private garden of ¾ acre and all bedrooms have stunning views towards the lake and town.

Huelgoat is well known for its spectacular scenery, woodland walks, rock formations and caves. Huelgoat is just 1 hour away from both the ferry port of Roscoff and the airport at Brest, making it easily accessible. The beautiful Brittany coast with its many sandy beaches is just 45 minutes away.

The area's rock formations include uniquely named sites. "Chaos" in the woods, the "Enchanted Forest", great boulders placed during the ice age, some the size of houses. "La Roche Tremblante" which translates as the trembling rock weighing over 120 tonnes and pivots 2 inches if you learn the secret from the locals. Another rock formation is called "La Champignon" which of course if shaped like a mushroom. A beautiful stone bridge over a weir where the water cascades and into the caves beyond.

For those who like a slower pace, then take the time to discover the rich and colourful history of the villa and surrounding areas. There are many things of interest to see and photograph.

There are many excellent facilities in the village both for provisioning and eating out during your self catering holiday. Within walking distance of the holiday villa, there are lakeside bars, restaurants, and a town square with traditional shops. For provisions there are 2 supermarkets, a Cinema to enjoy, along with an outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, bicycle hire, archery, fishing, boating and golf.

      Fantastic Holiday!

Left on 02/02/2011 for a stay in May 2007

We had a great family holiday in this beautiful historic spacious house/home with its super facilities. The accommodation was excellent, the owners have obviously wanted to create the feel of home from home. The was plenty of room for the family inside and out. The games/bar room proved to be very popular with us. The garden was a great area for the boys to play in and with meals al fresco with lovely surroundings in the warm weather, we didn't want to come home. The owners had supplied so much information on the area in the welcome pack, from beaches and places of interest to local markets and restaurants, it was hard to choose which ones to visit. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone who is looking to have a fantastic holiday with lots to do and see. So get booking and enjoy!.

Beautiful house set in beautiful surroundings. Very well equipped with things (e.g. Dvd s, games room) to keep the children occupied. The house was very clean and had plenty of room for everyone.
The only downside and off-putting thing was not the fault of the house - it was the weather. I think it rained every day bar 2 and coming from Ireland you would prefer not to see more rain!!

      Beautiful Brittany

Left on 01/17/2011 for a stay in August 2010

I travelled with my 16 year old son, my partner and his 3 children (11,10,7) my sister and her husband and their twin girls (11). Lakeview Villas was an ideal property with every facility available for a wonderful stay. The owners of Lakeview Villas gave a a huge amount of information about the area and things to do.
Huelgoat was a lovely town, with a fascinating history.
It was a very central location to visit the area. We found a lovely safe beach at Carantec. There was a swimming pool in a local town and plenty off markets to visit.
All in all it was a lovely holiday.
      Thank you very much.

      Outstanding!

Left on 01/12/2011 for a stay in December 2008

Well to find a house/home that accommodates three separate families with all their individual requirements is quite simply normally impossible. Until you find this one! Still cannot get over how well equipped the house was - for all ages - the children particularly enjoyed sleeping on the top floor which meant they were well away from the adults who too enjoyed the games room/bar!! The welcome pack was second to none and every time you thought you had found something that possibly wasn't in the house - there it was! Totally well thought out! As for the swanky shower - it proved great entertainment as the biggest kid (one of the dads) had great fun resetting the jets to give the next person an amazing shock when they turned the shower on! You could hear the screams from two floors down!!
The area was brilliant to get out and about and even though it was New Year there was loads to see and do. Particularly loved the supermarket in the village which sold amazing fresh prawns/langoustines! We had a super super time and cannot recommend this property more! Go for yourself and find out!

      Fantastic for families

Left on 01/12/2011 for a stay in August 2009

We had the pleasure of staying in this luxurious villa in august 2009. We were sharing the villa with some friends and their children. In total there were 4 adults and 5 children and there was still plenty of room. The villa itself is simply stunning both inside and out. From the bedroom you can see the nearby lake and surrounding village. There is lots for kids to do in the villa itself with a games room, television, dvd and in the large gardens - badminton, swings and football and ours were never bored for a second.

The villa is also well placed for the loval mini market and Heulgoat is only a short walk away. We made a habit of walking to the village boulangerie on a regular basis to buy fresh croissants and baguettes for an al fresco breakfast. There are also a number of good walking routes nearby which offer splendid views of the local scenery.

We had a fabulous holiday and would have loved to have stayed for 2 weeks rather than the single week we booked. We will definately visit again in the future. The children still ask me when we are going back to the "French House", so it has made a lasting impression on the kids also. Highly recommended.

      perfect family holiday

Left on 01/06/2011 for a stay in July 2009

Superb house in a fantastic location. 15 of us aged 1-80 had a brilliant family holiday here. The house was very well equipped and there was something to keep everyone entertained. The kids loved the bar area and the Fawlty Towers videos were a big hit. We all loved the garden which was in constant use for football, table tennis and the swings and slide. It was particularly nice to have food, drink and chocolate waiting for us on arrival. A very comfortable stay. Plenty of places of interest within an hour or so of the town. Hope to go back some day.

      A must stay in France

Left on 11/25/2010 for a stay in August 2009

Having never stayed in a villa in France, we decided to give it a go, as we planned on having a large family holiday and thought that hotels were out of the question. It was easy to choose Lakeview villas, you only have to see the pictures to see why we chose it, it simply looked fantastic. Of course it had crossed my mind "what if it really isn't as good as the pictures or the write up” but my mind was immediately put to rest the second we pulled into the driveway. We had two pensioners, 4 adults and four children staying at the villa. The feel of the house was luxurious and large enough to get away from one another when we wanted to. The children all stayed in the bedrooms on the 2nd floor which they loved, and all the adults felt that their room was the best in the house, all very different but equally as beautiful.
The kitchen was well equipped and the play room with a bar in was always full of children and adults. We spent much of the time in the garden thanks to the lovely weather, all playing badminton, which was just one of the many games to be found in the garage. So much room and privacy in the garden which was lovely.
The house is ideally located for a short walk into the main town, which is so pretty with plenty of fantastic restaurants, shops and a very picturesque lake.
We very much hope to visit the villa again soon, it has something for everyone, and nobody would be at all disappointed in the gem that is Lakeview villas.

Beautiful french villa perfect for families

Left on 09/29/2010 for a stay in May 2008

We totally enjoyed our stay at Lake View Villas. We went with our extended family ranging in age from 4 to 60 years (there were 11 of us in total). The villa is beautiful and was large and well equipped (I particularly loved the luxury shower in the top floor shower room with its massage jets and in built stereo) and it was very comfortable and homely. As promised, there were plenty of toys in the toyboxes to keep our children amused and the garden was ideal for us -peaceful, private and secure and with plenty of space for the children to play. There was a selection of garden toys in the garage including football, swingball and badminton which we used a lot - it kept the children entertained and meant we could relax and enjoy a glass of wine in the garden on an evening.

The setting of the villa was perfect for young families too, very quiet and peaceful and a short walk down the lane was the lake where there's a park for the children. The town of Hueloat was only a few minutes walk away and is set around a square with the traditional boulangerie, patisserie and cafes. We walked there every morning to buy fresh croissants and pain au chocolat for breakfast. There was also a market in the square which I would recommend going to - the food was delicious.

There are some lovely walks, scenery and caves to explore in the surrounding forest and plenty of beautiful beaches and towns to visit a short drive away. I would highly recommend visiting the town of Quimper with its medieval half timbered buildings, cathedral and fantastic shops and cafes.

We found plenty to do nearby to entertain the children on rainy days such as go-karting, swimming and bowling - there are information leaflets for many activities in the hall.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The villa was beautiful, the town was totally charming and the scenery and surrounding area was stunning. We will definately stay there again.

Fantastic large house and beautiful location

Left on 09/29/2010 for a stay in October 2009

Spent school half term at Lake View Villas with teenage children. Found it very clean, with modern utilities and well maintained original features (one of largest fire places ever seen!). The large garden was well used for lawn games, as was the games room. Lots to do and see, in and around Huelgoat -will definately revisit this house at some point. Superb holiday.

Incredible holiday that was cheaper than staying at home!

Left on 09/29/2010 for a stay in July 2010

Well, where to begin with this one?!
We'd been planning a big, extended-family holiday for ages but could never find anywhere spacious enough that was abroad, in the right location and within budget. Then we saw this place advertised...

We arrived at this stunning big house by the lake- and then we found that the owners had laid on a welcome pack, so there was no need for a stressy trip to the supermarket as soon as you arrive. Everything's taken care of.

The rest of it was just proper chilled. Stuff for the adults to do, a huge safe garden for the younger ones to tire themselves out. Oh, and the games room made sure the older kids (and some of the adults) weren't bored.

To write about it doesn't really do the place justice.
From our point of view, it was an amazing, stress-free holiday that didn't leave us broke for once!
