This stone built cottage is situated on the edge of the village of Hulme End in the Peak District National Park and sleeps seven people in three bedrooms. West Cawlow Barn is a stone built cottage, created from a Grade II listed barn, is located on the edge of the village of Hulme End, near to Buxton in the Peak National Park. Boasting three bedrooms consisting of one family room with a double and single bedroom, another double and one twin room, this cottage can sleep up to seven people. The cottage also has two family bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen with dining area and a sitting room. To the outside of this cottage there is a large gar...den with furniture and BBQ, along with ample off road parking. West Cawlow Barn is in a stunning location and is perfect for families.

Amenities: Electric night storage heaters with electric panel heaters and gas fire in sitting room. Gas cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, automatic washer/dryer, dishwasher, TV, DVD, stereo etc. All fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Cot and highchair available. Ample off road parking. Large garden with swings for children, garden furniture and BBQ. Fishing by arrangement. Sorry, no pets. Non smokers preferred. Shop and pub 5 mins walk. Note: This owner collects a refundable £50 Good Housekeeping bond. Note: Short breaks at this property can only start on a Friday.

Region: The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.

Town: Situated in the picturesque Manifold Valley within The Peak District National Park is the pretty village of Hulme End. This little town offers a shop and pub which serves good food, though more specialised amenities can be found close by. The popular Manifold Trail runs alongside the village, whilst the nearby Tissington Trail offers a further variety of walking and cycling routes. Dovedale and the well-known village of Hartington are within easy driving distance and are both pleasant places to spend an afternoon. The whole area is a full of walking, cycling and horse riding opportunities whilst Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both within a 20 minute drive. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental.   We were made very welcome and the house and location were excellent, well equipped warm and comfortable. The weather was perfect too which was a bonus. Everything we had hoped for as a short holiday location.

  Overall this cottage represented good value for money, and I can recommend it on that account.
  
  On the good side, the furnishings were quite new and of reasonable quality, both in the living room and in the bedrooms.
  
  On the downside:
  - The diswasher was too small and too underpowered. It didn't get the crocks clean; many of the plates and glasses etc were just slightly dirty when we arrived; we washed a lot by hand - and left the kitchen a whole lot cleaner than when we arrived!
  - The showers were feeble
  - The bathrooms generally were cold - you had to turn on a fan heater to warm them up, which was noisy and took time to work; also towels just didn't get dry.
  - Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the attitude of the owners wasn't pleasant. There was no welcome pack - for instance, other cottages we have rented have provided a few teabags, sachets of sugar, etc to get you started. And although we left the kitchen spotless, they actually wrote to me to complain that we hadn't emptied the diswasher before leaving!!!
